Overview
The ARRMA Shock Springs 130mm 2.01N/mm (11.48lb/in) are precision-engineered suspension components designed to give you complete control over your RC vehicle's handling characteristics. Whether you're running an ARRMA 1/5 scale Kraton or Outcast brushless speed truck, these replacement shock springs allow you to fine-tune your setup in seconds, making them an essential part of any serious RC enthusiast's spares collection. These high-quality springs are manufactured from spring steel and engineered to deliver consistent performance lap after lap, ensuring your RC car maintains optimal suspension geometry whether you're bashing on rough terrain or pushing for competitive times.
If you're serious about getting the best out of your RC truck, suspension tuning is one of the most effective ways to improve handling, cornering speed and overall stability. The ability to swap shock springs quickly means you can experiment with different setups, adapt to changing track conditions, or simply replace worn components without expensive downtime. Available here at RC Model Shop, these genuine ARRMA shock springs are the perfect choice for anyone looking to maintain or upgrade their 1/5 scale RC truck. Whether you're a seasoned RC competitor or a dedicated weekend basher, having spare shock springs on hand ensures you're always ready to get back on the track or field.
These springs come as a pair, giving you everything you need to service one axle or experiment with progressive spring rates by mixing and matching with different firmness options available in the ARRMA range. The 130mm length and 2.01N/mm spring rate make them specifically suited to ARRMA's premium 1/5 scale trucks, delivering the precise handling response these vehicles are designed for.
Key Features
- Precision manufactured spring steel construction — Each spring is manufactured from quality spring steel that has been precisely engineered to deliver exact spring rates, ensuring your vehicle responds predictably to suspension inputs and maintains consistent handling characteristics throughout its lifespan.
- 2.01N/mm spring rate (11.48lb/in) — This medium spring rate provides an excellent balance between responsiveness and compliance, making it suitable for both track use and general bashing, though you can experiment with softer or stiffer alternatives depending on your terrain and driving style.
- 130mm length specification — The 130mm dimension is specifically engineered for ARRMA's 1/5 scale suspension geometry, ensuring proper axle alignment, correct suspension travel and optimal weight distribution when fitted correctly.
- Long-lasting durability — Spring steel construction resists fatigue and maintains its spring rate characteristics even after extended use, meaning you won't experience the gradual softening that can occur with inferior materials, ensuring predictable handling over time.
- Quick and easy tuning — Suspension tuning doesn't require special tools or technical expertise; simply unbolt your old springs and fit the new ones to instantly change your vehicle's handling response, making this an ideal upgrade path for RC enthusiasts wanting to improve their setup.
- 32mm outer diameter — The outer diameter is precisely sized to fit ARRMA's shock absorber assembly, ensuring a secure fit and proper functioning of the damping system without requiring any modifications or adaptation.
- Pair of springs included — You receive two springs in this pack, allowing you to service one complete axle or replace both front or rear springs depending on your setup requirements and tuning goals.
Technical Performance
These ARRMA shock springs represent the genuine OEM replacement parts for 1/5 scale ARRMA trucks, engineered to the exacting specifications required by high-performance brushless RC vehicles. At 130mm in length with a spring rate of 2.01N/mm (equivalent to 11.48lb/in), these springs are calibrated to work seamlessly with ARRMA's purpose-built 1/5 scale suspension system. The 32mm outer diameter integrates perfectly with ARRMA's shock absorber assembly, which typically features threaded bodies and adjustable ride height options. Spring steel offers superior consistency compared to other materials, maintaining its rate characteristics even after hundreds of compression cycles, which is essential when you're running a brushless 8S LiPo-powered truck generating significant suspension loads. The spring rate of 2.01N/mm is considered a medium stiffness, making it versatile enough for various driving conditions—from high-speed bashing on rocky terrain to more technical driving on indoor carpet surfaces. When used as OEM replacements, they maintain the factory handling characteristics ARRMA engineered for models such as the Kraton 8S and Outcast 8S trucks. If you want to adjust your vehicle's handling, ARRMA offers both softer and stiffer spring options that can be mixed and matched for progressive spring setups, allowing experienced RC drivers to optimise weight transfer and suspension response to suit their personal driving style and local track conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Will these shock springs fit my ARRMA RC truck? — These springs are specified for ARRMA 1/5 scale models including the Kraton 8S 4X4 RTR, Kraton 8S EXB 4X4 Roller, Kraton 8S EXB AVC 4X4 RTR, Outcast 8S AVC 4X4 RTR and Outcast 8S EXB 4X4 Roller models. Check your vehicle's specification sheet or contact our team to confirm compatibility with your specific model variant.
- What is spring rate and why does it matter for RC cars? — Spring rate measures how much force is required to compress a spring by a fixed distance, measured in N/mm (Newtons per millimetre) or lb/in (pounds per inch). A 2.01N/mm spring rate means you need 2.01 Newtons of force to compress the spring 1mm. Stiffer springs (higher numbers) reduce body roll, improve cornering speed and suit heavier vehicles or rough terrain, whilst softer springs (lower numbers) improve traction, ride comfort and work better on smoother surfaces. The 2.01N/mm rate here is considered medium, making it suitable for general-purpose use on most surfaces.
- How often should I replace my shock springs? — With proper maintenance, quality spring steel springs like these can last hundreds of hours of use. However, if you notice your vehicle's ride height is noticeably lower than before, or if the vehicle feels less responsive in corners, it may indicate spring fatigue. Springs don't typically need replacement unless damaged, but many competitive drivers keep spares on hand to maintain consistent setups across multiple vehicles or to experiment with different spring rates.
- Can I mix different spring rates on the same vehicle? — Yes, many experienced RC drivers use progressive spring setups, fitting softer springs on one end and stiffer springs on the other to fine-tune weight transfer characteristics. However, start with matched pairs as per the manufacturer's recommendation, then experiment with alternatives once you understand how your specific vehicle responds to suspension changes.
- What's the difference between these springs and aftermarket alternatives? — These are genuine ARRMA original equipment manufacturer (OEM) springs, engineered specifically for ARRMA's suspension geometry and damping characteristics. OEM springs provide reliable, predictable performance that matches the vehicle's original design. Aftermarket springs vary widely in quality and consistency; some offer performance benefits for specific applications, but ARRMA's genuine springs guarantee compatibility and the handling characteristics your truck was designed for.
- Do I need any special tools to fit these springs? — Fitting shock springs typically requires only basic RC tools: a spring compression tool (or a small vise), which allows you to compress the spring safely whilst you remove the spring retainers. Alternatively, some drivers secure the shock in a vice, compress the spring carefully by hand pressure or with a spanner, then remove the clip or fastener. Always follow ARRMA's assembly guide and work carefully, as springs are under tension and can cause injury if released uncontrolled.
