Overview
The ARRMA Shock Springs 120mm 2.41N/mm (13.76lb/in) are precision-engineered suspension components designed to fine-tune the handling characteristics of your RC car in seconds. Whether you're running a 1/5 scale RC monster truck like the KRATON 8S or the OUTCAST 8S, these high-quality shock springs are essential replacements for maintaining optimal suspension performance. As a UK RC hobbyist, you'll appreciate how easy it is to adjust your vehicle's ride height, stiffness and overall handling simply by swapping to a different spring rate.
These springs are manufactured from premium spring steel, ensuring consistent performance and exceptional durability through countless bashing sessions, whether you're tearing up terrain in your garden, at your local RC track, or competing in organised events across the UK. The 120mm length and 2.41N/mm spring rate make these ideal for larger-scale RC vehicles that demand robust suspension geometry. With a customer rating of 4.1 out of 5, these ARRMA shock springs have proven themselves as reliable, effective tuning components that serious RC enthusiasts trust.
If you're serious about getting the best handling from your brushless RC truck or want to explore how suspension tuning affects performance, upgrading or replacing your shock springs is one of the most impactful modifications you can make. The ARRMA Shock Springs deliver professional-grade engineering at an accessible price point, making them perfect for anyone from dedicated weekend bashers to competitive RC drivers looking to dial in their setup.
Key Features
- Precision manufactured spring steel construction — Each spring is manufactured to exacting standards from high-grade spring steel, which guarantees consistent spring rates and reliable performance across hundreds of use cycles, meaning your suspension geometry remains predictable and your handling remains repeatable.
- 120mm length specification — The 120mm length is specifically designed to fit 1/5 scale ARRMA models and other large-scale RC vehicles, ensuring proper suspension travel and maintaining the correct ride height geometry for optimal handling characteristics.
- 2.41N/mm spring rate (13.76lb/in) — This medium spring rate is engineered to provide a balance between comfort over rough terrain and responsive handling during cornering, making it suitable for mixed-use RC driving from casual backyard running to more aggressive track driving.
- 32mm outer diameter — The robust 32mm outer diameter provides ample structural support and durability, resisting deformation under the heavy loads experienced by large-scale RC vehicles during high-speed running and aggressive bashing.
- Sold as a pair — You receive two shock springs in each package, allowing you to replace both front or both rear springs, or to have spare springs on hand for quick changes at the track without needing to purchase multiple packages.
- Quick tuning capability — By simply swapping these springs for softer or stiffer alternatives, you can dramatically alter your vehicle's handling characteristics in seconds without requiring any tools or complex procedures, making suspension tuning accessible to all skill levels.
Technical Performance
The ARRMA Shock Springs represent the kind of engineering excellence you expect from ARRMA, one of the most recognised and respected RC manufacturers in the world. Constructed from premium spring steel, these components are precision-engineered to maintain consistent spring rates throughout their service life, which is critical for maintaining predictable handling characteristics during competitive driving or spirited recreational use. The 2.41N/mm (13.76lb/in) spring rate strikes an excellent balance for 1/5 scale RC vehicles, providing sufficient compliance to absorb bumps and rough terrain whilst maintaining responsive handling for cornering and directional changes. At 120mm in length with a 32mm outer diameter, these springs are engineered to handle the considerable loads generated by brushless motors pushing large-scale RC trucks to high speeds. The engineering ensures that whether you're running a KRATON 8S with its 8S LiPo power or an OUTCAST 8S EXB with advanced brushless electronics, your suspension will maintain consistent geometry and predictable behaviour. Spring rate tuning is one of the most effective ways to dial in your RC vehicle's handling, influencing how the chassis corners, how it absorbs impacts, and how the weight transfers during acceleration and braking—making these replacement springs a crucial tuning tool for any serious RC enthusiast in the UK.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What ARRMA models are these shock springs compatible with? — These 120mm shock springs are designed to fit multiple ARRMA 1/5 scale models including the KRATON 8S 4X4 RTR, KRATON 8S EXB 4X4 Roller, KRATON 8S EXB AVC 4X4 RTR, and the OUTCAST 8S EXB AVC 4X4 RTR. They may also fit other large-scale ARRMA vehicles with the same suspension geometry, but it's always worth confirming fitment with the manufacturer's specification sheets before purchase.
- How do shock springs affect RC car handling? — Spring rate directly influences how your RC vehicle's suspension responds to impacts and cornering forces. A stiffer spring rate (higher N/mm rating) will make your vehicle sit higher and handle sharper but may feel harsh on bumpy terrain. A softer spring rate will provide more compliance and comfort but may cause the vehicle to sit lower. The 2.41N/mm rating of these springs is medium-stiffness, suitable for mixed-use driving from casual bashing to track work.
- Why would I need replacement shock springs? — Springs can wear, lose their temper (become softer over time), or break under extreme use. Additionally, as an RC enthusiast in the UK, you might purchase different spring rates to tune your vehicle's handling for different terrains, track layouts, or weather conditions. Having spare springs allows rapid tuning adjustments without delays.
- What is the difference between 2.41N/mm and other spring rates? — The N/mm (Newtons per millimetre) rating indicates how much force is required to compress the spring by one millimetre. A lower rating (e.g. 1.8N/mm) is softer and provides more suspension travel and comfort. A higher rating (e.g. 3.2N/mm) is stiffer and provides less travel but sharper handling. At 2.41N/mm, these springs sit in the medium range, making them versatile for various driving conditions.
- Can I use these springs on other RC brands? — These springs are specifically designed for ARRMA 1/5 scale vehicles. Different manufacturers use different suspension geometries and spring mounting systems, so compatibility with other brands like Traxxas, Losi, or FTX cannot be guaranteed. Always check fitment specifications before purchasing for different brands.
- How long do shock springs last? — With proper maintenance and reasonable use, quality spring steel shock springs can last hundreds of running hours. However, aggressive bashing, repeated impacts, and extreme temperatures can cause fatigue. Regular inspection ensures you spot any loss of spring rate or visible damage before suspension geometry becomes unpredictable.
