Overview

The ARRMA Shock Springs 120mm 2.54N-mm (14.50lb/in) are precision-engineered suspension components designed to help you fine-tune your RC car's handling characteristics in seconds. Whether you're running an ARRMA Kraton 8S, Outcast 8S, or other compatible 1/5 scale brushless RC truck, these replacement shock springs are essential consumables for maintaining optimal suspension performance. As a serious RC enthusiast in the UK, having a selection of different spring rates on hand allows you to adapt your vehicle to different terrain, weather conditions, and driving styles without expensive downtime or complex modifications.

These high-quality shock springs are manufactured from spring steel using precision engineering processes, ensuring consistent performance and long-lasting durability through countless bashing sessions, track days, or competitive runs. The 120mm length and 2.54N-mm spring rate (equivalent to 14.50lb/in) makes these springs ideal for tuning mid-range suspension stiffness on large-scale RC monster trucks and stunt vehicles. If you own a ready to run RTR RC truck or are building a competition-grade 1/5 scale RC vehicle, keeping spare shock springs in your pit box is simply good practice. The ability to swap springs quickly and adjust your vehicle's ride height, suspension geometry, and handling balance is what separates casual bashers from serious RC car UK enthusiasts who want maximum performance and control.

Each pack contains two shock springs, allowing you to replace both front or both rear springs in a single purchase, or to keep a spare set for your next maintenance session. As an authorised ARRMA retailer, RC Model Shop stocks genuine OEM suspension components like these springs to ensure your RC car performs exactly as the manufacturer intended.

Key Features

  • Precision Manufactured Spring Steel Construction — These shock springs are manufactured from high-quality spring steel using precision engineering techniques, which ensures consistent performance across the entire spring's lifespan and prevents the spring rate from degrading prematurely even under intensive use or in challenging weather conditions.
  • Fixed 120mm Length — The 120mm length is specifically engineered for compatibility with ARRMA's 1/5 scale truck range, ensuring perfect fit and function without the need for modification or adaptation to your suspension geometry.
  • 2.54N-mm Spring Rate (14.50lb/in) — This mid-range spring rate provides a balanced compromise between responsive handling and comfortable ride quality, making these springs suitable for general-purpose RC bashing, track work, and off-road driving without the extremes of either very soft or very stiff suspension setup.
  • Simple Plug-and-Play Installation — Swapping shock springs is one of the quickest and easiest RC car maintenance tasks, requiring minimal tools and taking only seconds per corner, allowing you to experiment with suspension tuning and find the optimal setup for your driving style and local terrain.
  • Pack of Two Springs — Each purchase includes two springs, providing enough to replace springs on one axle (front or rear) or to keep a backup set in your spares box for competition days when quick repairs may be needed.
  • Compatible with Multiple ARRMA Models — These springs are listed as standard parts for the ARRMA Kraton 8S 4x4 RTR, Kraton 8S EXB, Kraton 8S EXB AVC, and Outcast 8S EXB AVC, making them a versatile choice if you own more than one brushless RC truck in your collection.

Technical Performance

The ARRMA Shock Springs represent the manufacturer's approach to durable, high-performance suspension tuning for 1/5 scale RC trucks. Manufactured from spring steel through precision processes, these springs deliver consistent load characteristics and long-term reliability in demanding conditions. The 120mm length and 2.54N-mm (14.50lb/in) spring rate place these springs in the mid-range stiffness category for ARRMA's 8S brushless truck platform. This spring rate is particularly well-suited for drivers who want responsive handling without sacrificing ride comfort, and it serves as an excellent baseline setup for most terrain types. The springs are engineered to work seamlessly with ARRMA's double-wishbone suspension geometry on their large-scale RC trucks, maintaining proper suspension travel and preventing binding or bottoming out during aggressive driving. Whether you're running over rocks, sand, grass, concrete, or track surfaces, these springs provide predictable damping characteristics that work in harmony with your vehicle's shock absorbers. Precision manufacturing tolerances ensure that both springs in the pack have identical performance characteristics, preventing handling inconsistencies or pulling to one side during acceleration, cornering, or braking. As wear items on any RC vehicle, shock springs should be inspected regularly and replaced when they lose their original tension or begin to show permanent deformation, both of which are inevitable over thousands of driven kilometers.

What's in the Box

  • 2 x Shock Spring, 120mm length, 2.54N-mm (14.50lb/in) spring rate

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which ARRMA RC trucks use these 120mm shock springs? — These springs are standard parts for the ARRMA 1/5 Kraton 8S 4x4 RTR, Kraton 8S EXB, Kraton 8S EXB AVC, and Outcast 8S EXB AVC brushless RC trucks. If you own one of these models, you can use these springs as direct replacements or optional performance upgrades to fine-tune your suspension setup.
  • How often should I replace my RC shock springs? — Shock springs are wear items that gradually lose their original tension through normal use. Most RC enthusiasts replace springs every 1-2 seasons of regular bashing or after several thousand kilometres of driving, or sooner if you notice excessive spring compression, ride height changes, or handling inconsistencies. Many competition drivers keep multiple spring rates in their spares collection and swap them regularly to experiment with setup.
  • What is the difference between spring rate measurements N-mm and lb/in? — These are two different ways of expressing the same property. The ARRMA specification lists both: 2.54N-mm is the metric spring rate (newtons per millimetre of compression), while 14.50lb/in is the imperial equivalent (pounds per inch of compression). They measure how much force is required to compress the spring by one unit of distance.
  • Can I use softer or stiffer springs with my ARRMA truck? — Yes, ARRMA offers a range of shock spring rates to suit different driving conditions, weights, and preferences. Softer springs (lower N-mm rating) provide a smoother ride and more suspension travel on bumpy terrain, whilst stiffer springs (higher N-mm rating) offer better responsiveness and weight transfer on smooth tracks. Many UK RC enthusiasts keep several spring rates available to tune their vehicle for different locations.
  • How do I install new shock springs on my ARRMA RC truck? — Shock spring replacement is straightforward: remove the shock assembly from the vehicle mounting, carefully compress the spring using the shock body (or a spring compressor tool for safety), slide out the old spring, insert the new spring, and reinstall the shock. Most springs can be changed in under one minute per corner with basic RC tools.
  • Are these genuine ARRMA springs or aftermarket replacements? — These are official ARRMA OEM (original equipment manufacturer) parts, which means they are manufactured to ARRMA's exact specifications and designed specifically for their vehicle platforms. This ensures perfect compatibility and performance as intended by the manufacturer.
