The ARRMA 50T Slipper Set 0.8 Mod is a precision-engineered drivetrain component designed for serious RC enthusiasts who demand reliability and performance from their vehicles. This complete slipper clutch assembly arrives pre-built and ready to install, making it an ideal choice for RC car UK owners looking to upgrade or replace worn drivetrain components. Whether you're a dedicated basher, a weekend racer, or someone rebuilding their RC model truck, this slipper set delivers the quality and performance you need to keep your vehicle running at its best.

Slipper clutches are essential components in any serious RC car setup, particularly for brushless RC vehicles where power delivery can be intense. The slipper mechanism allows the spur gear to slip under extreme load, protecting your transmission from catastrophic damage and extending the lifespan of your entire drivetrain. This ARRMA slipper set combines durable engineering with user-friendly installation, making it accessible to both experienced hobbyists and those new to RC car maintenance and upgrades.

Built to the exacting standards ARRMA is renowned for, this 50T slipper set with 0.8 module gearing provides the perfect balance of power handling capability and reliability. The pre-assembled design means you won't spend hours tinkering with complex mechanics—simply install it into your compatible ARRMA Infraction model and enjoy improved drivetrain protection and performance.

Key Features

  • Precision Manufactured Aluminium Slipper Hub — The slipper hub is precision-engineered from aluminium, a material chosen for its excellent strength-to-weight ratio and durability. This component takes the drive from your motor directly to the rear transmission, meaning it must be able to handle extreme forces without bending or failing. The precision manufacturing ensures perfect tolerances, which translates to smooth power delivery and reliable operation in all driving conditions.
  • Durable Composite 50 Tooth Spur Gear — The 50-tooth composite spur gear is engineered to handle reliable power delivery without excessive wear. Composite materials offer an excellent balance between strength and flexibility, allowing the gear to absorb impacts better than brittle metal alternatives. The 50-tooth configuration provides a specific gear ratio suited to ARRMA Infraction vehicles, ensuring optimal performance and acceleration characteristics.
  • 0.8 Module Specification — The 0.8 module rating refers to the pitch or size of the gear teeth. This standardised specification ensures compatibility with ARRMA Infraction differential cases and other components in the drivetrain. The 0.8 module is a popular specification in the RC hobby, meaning replacement gears and compatible parts are widely available from RC retailers across the UK and beyond.
  • Castellated Slipper Pad Design — The castellated (notched) design of the slipper pad ensures positive location into the spur gear. Rather than relying on friction alone to keep the pad in place, the castellated design locks the pad into specific positions on the gear teeth. This engineering detail prevents slippage and ensures your slipper setting remains consistent throughout your run, giving you predictable handling and reliable performance.
  • Red Anodised Aluminium Slipper Shaft — The main slipper shaft is constructed from red anodised aluminium, combining lightweight properties with excellent corrosion resistance. The anodised finish protects the shaft from oxidation and gives it an attractive appearance. More importantly, the strength of aluminium ensures the shaft won't flex or bend under the extreme torque produced by brushless RC motors, maintaining precise alignment with your transmission components.
  • Molded Composite Spring Tension Nut — The slipper tension is controlled by a composite nut that sets how easily the gears slip under load. This nut is moulded composite rather than metal, which reduces weight whilst maintaining durability. The tension adjustment allows you to fine-tune your slipper setting to match your driving style and terrain, making this component versatile for both racing and casual bashing.
  • Pre-Built and Pre-Set Assembly — Perhaps the most valuable feature for busy RC enthusiasts is that this slipper set arrives fully assembled and set to factory specifications. This means no complex assembly is required, and the slipper tension is already optimised for ARRMA Infraction vehicles. Simply remove your old slipper clutch, drop in this pre-set assembly, and you're ready to hit the track or bash course.

Technical Performance

The ARRMA 50T Slipper Set 0.8 Mod represents a significant engineering achievement in drivetrain protection and power delivery for 1/8 scale RC models. The combination of a precision aluminium slipper hub and durable composite 50-tooth spur gear creates a drivetrain component capable of handling the extreme torque and acceleration forces produced by modern brushless RC motors. The 0.8 module specification is specifically engineered to integrate seamlessly with ARRMA Infraction 4x4 vehicles, which are known for their powerful 3S brushless powertrains. This slipper set is designed to slip at a controlled threshold under extreme load, preventing transmission damage that might otherwise occur when your RC vehicle hits large jumps, hard landings, or gets stuck against obstacles. The red anodised aluminium shaft provides excellent rigidity whilst remaining lightweight, ensuring no unwanted flex during high-torque situations. The castellated slipper pad design guarantees repeatable engagement and consistent slipping characteristics throughout numerous bashing sessions or race runs. The pre-assembled and pre-set configuration means the slipper tension is optimised directly from the box, though experienced users can fine-tune the tension nut if they wish to adjust the slip threshold for their specific driving conditions. This component is essential for anyone running a brushless RC vehicle at competitive levels or subjecting their model to rough terrain and aggressive driving styles.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a slipper clutch and why do I need one in my RC car? — A slipper clutch is a safety mechanism that allows your spur gear to slip under extreme load, protecting your transmission from damage. When your RC vehicle experiences sudden impacts, hits large jumps, or gets stuck, the motor continues to spin while the wheels slow down. Without a slipper clutch, this mismatch in speed would translate to extreme forces on your transmission components, potentially causing gears to break and expensive damage to occur. The slipper mechanism engages smoothly under normal driving but slips at a preset threshold when forces exceed safe limits, absorbing the shock and protecting your entire drivetrain. For brushless RC vehicles, which produce significant power, a quality slipper clutch is not optional—it's essential for reliability.
  • Is this slipper set compatible with my ARRMA Infraction? — Yes, the ARRMA 50T Slipper Set 0.8 Mod is specifically designed for ARRMA Infraction 4x4 1/8 scale vehicles. It is compatible with both the Gold Resto-Mod Truck RTR (C-ARA4315V3T1) and the Teal Resto-Mod Truck RTR (C-ARA4315V3T2) variants. If you own either of these ARRMA Infraction models and are looking to upgrade or replace your slipper clutch, this is the exact component you need. Always verify your vehicle model number before purchasing replacement parts to ensure compatibility.
  • Do I need any special tools to install this slipper set? — The ARRMA 50T Slipper Set arrives fully assembled and pre-set, meaning installation is straightforward and requires only basic RC maintenance tools. You'll need a hex driver or screwdriver to remove your existing slipper clutch and install the new assembly, but no specialist equipment or calibration tools are required. The pre-set tension means you can use it immediately out of the box, though experienced users can adjust the tension nut with the appropriate hex driver if desired. For beginners to RC maintenance, this pre-assembled approach makes upgrading your drivetrain accessible and stress-free.
  • What is the 0.8 module specification? — Module is a measurement standard for gear teeth pitch, referring to the distance between tooth centres on a gear. The 0.8 module specification is a widely used standard in RC hobby vehicles, particularly in 1/8 and 1/10 scale models. This standardisation ensures that 0.8 module spur gears are compatible with 0.8 module pinions and differential cases across multiple RC brands and models. If you're uncertain whether your current vehicle uses 0.8 module gears, check your vehicle's manual or contact RC Model Shop for guidance.
  • Can I adjust the slipper tension myself? — Yes, the molded composite tension nut included in this assembly allows for fine-tuning of slipper engagement. By adjusting this nut, you can alter the threshold at which the gears slip under load. Tighter tension means the slipper engages sooner and protects against damage more aggressively but may reduce acceleration response. Looser tension provides more direct power delivery but offers less protection. The factory pre-set is optimised for general ARRMA Infraction use, but experienced enthusiasts can experiment with different settings to match their driving style and terrain. Most adjustments can be made with a simple hex driver without removing the assembly from your vehicle.
  • How often should I replace my slipper clutch? — The lifespan of a slipper clutch depends on your driving intensity, the terrain you use, and how well you maintain the component. The durable composite spur gear in this ARRMA set is designed for extended life under normal to aggressive use. However, if you regularly bash your RC vehicle hard, bash in sandy or muddy conditions, or drive competitively, you may need replacement gears more frequently than casual drivers. Inspect your slipper clutch periodically for wear, cracks, or gear tooth damage. If your vehicle starts to lose acceleration response or you notice grinding sounds, it's time to replace the spur gear.
  • Is this slipper set suitable for racing? — Absolutely. The ARRMA 50T Slipper Set is engineered to exacting standards suitable for both casual weekend bashing and competitive racing. The precision-manufactured aluminium hub and durable composite spur gear provide the reliability and consistency that racers demand. The pre-set tension is optimised for ARRMA Infraction race setups, and the castellated pad design ensures repeatable engagement throughout multiple race runs. Many RC racers across the UK choose ARRMA components specifically for their reliability and performance in competitive environments.
