Overview

The ARRMA 26T 0.8Mod 1/8 inch Bore CNC Steel Pinion Gear (Z-ARA311088) is a precision-engineered replacement component designed for high-performance RC cars and buggies. This genuine ARRMA part is manufactured to exacting standards using CNC machining and hardened steel, ensuring durability and reliability during intense racing and bashing sessions. Whether you're upgrading your RC car UK setup, maintaining your existing vehicle, or fine-tuning your transmission for optimal performance, this pinion gear delivers the quality and precision that serious RC enthusiasts demand.

Built to withstand the rigorous demands of 1/8 scale RC vehicles, this steel pinion gear is an essential component for anyone looking to maintain peak performance or experiment with different gear ratios. The CNC steel construction provides superior wear resistance compared to standard materials, making it ideal for both competitive racing and casual weekend bashers. This is a direct replacement part that integrates seamlessly with compatible ARRMA 1/8 scale models and RC vehicles that utilise 0.8 modulus gearing systems.

As an experienced RC enthusiast or newcomer to the hobby, you'll appreciate the robust engineering and authentic ARRMA quality that goes into every component. From ready to run RC vehicles to custom-built competition machines, having genuine replacement parts like this 26-tooth pinion gear on hand ensures you can keep your RC car running at its best. This is not a budget alternative—it's a professional-grade part that reflects ARRMA's commitment to excellence in RC engineering.

Key Features

  • CNC Steel Construction — The pinion gear is manufactured using CNC (computer numerical control) machining from hardened steel, which provides exceptional durability, precise tooth profiles, and superior wear resistance compared to plastic or softer metal alternatives, ensuring longer service life and consistent performance.
  • 26 Teeth Configuration — With 26 teeth (commonly referenced as 26T), this pinion gear offers a balanced gear ratio suitable for 1/8 scale RC vehicles, providing the right balance between acceleration and top speed for both racing and recreational driving.
  • 0.8 Modulus Pitch — The 0.8 modulus specification ensures compatibility with matching spur gears and drivetrain components designed to 0.8Mod standards, guaranteeing smooth meshing, efficient power transfer, and minimal backlash in your RC car's transmission system.
  • 1/8 Inch Bore — The 3.2mm (1/8 inch) bore diameter provides a secure fit on standard 1/8 scale RC motor shafts, ensuring positive drive engagement and preventing slippage during acceleration, cornering, and high-torque situations.
  • Genuine ARRMA Component — As an official ARRMA part (model number Z-ARA311088), this gear meets the manufacturer's exacting quality standards and is engineered to work perfectly with ARRMA 1/8 scale RC vehicles, giving you confidence in compatibility and performance.
  • Precision Tooth Profile — The CNC-machined tooth geometry ensures optimal contact with your spur gear, reducing noise, vibration, and premature wear while maximising power transmission efficiency across the entire RPM range.

Technical Performance

This ARRMA 26T 0.8Mod pinion gear represents precision engineering at its finest. The CNC steel construction delivers hardened, wear-resistant teeth that maintain their profile and performance characteristics even under the extreme stresses of competitive racing or aggressive bashing. The 0.8 modulus specification is a standard pitch used across many 1/8 scale RC platforms, making this gear a versatile upgrade option for various ARRMA models and compatible vehicles. The 3.2mm bore is precisely machined to provide a secure, vibration-free fit on standard 1/8 scale motor shafts, eliminating the slippage and inconsistency associated with poorly-fitting gears. The 26-tooth count strikes an ideal balance for 1/8 scale driving: it provides enough reduction for responsive acceleration and torque whilst maintaining adequate top-speed capability for both track racing and off-road bashing. When properly meshed with a matching spur gear, this pinion delivers smooth, efficient power transfer with minimal mechanical loss, allowing you to extract maximum performance from your brushless motor and ESC combination. The hardened steel material resists the deformation and tooth stripping that can occur with softer metals or plastic gears, making this component a long-term investment in your RC car's reliability.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a pinion gear and why do I need to replace it? — A pinion gear is the small motor-driven gear that meshes with your RC car's larger spur gear to transfer power from the motor to the wheels. Pinion gears wear over time, especially during intense racing or bashing, and replacing a worn gear restores smooth power delivery and prevents damage to the spur gear. Having spare pinion gears in different tooth counts also allows you to adjust your vehicle's gear ratio for different track conditions or driving styles.
  • Will this gear fit my ARRMA RC car? — This 0.8Mod 1/8 inch bore pinion gear is designed for ARRMA 1/8 scale vehicles that use 0.8 modulus gearing. Compatibility depends on your specific model, so check your ARRMA vehicle's documentation or contact RC Model Shop to confirm that your model accepts this gear specification. The 3.2mm bore fits standard 1/8 scale motor shafts.
  • What is the difference between 0.8Mod and other modulus sizes? — Modulus refers to the pitch size of the gear teeth; 0.8Mod gears have smaller, more densely-packed teeth compared to 1.0Mod or larger pitches. The 0.8Mod specification is standard for many 1/8 scale RC vehicles and ensures precise meshing with matching spur gears. Using the wrong modulus (e.g., 0.8Mod pinion with a 1.0Mod spur) will result in poor meshing, excessive noise, and accelerated wear.
  • How often should I replace my pinion gear? — Pinion gear lifespan depends on your driving style, track conditions, and maintenance habits. Competitive racers might replace pinions every few events, whilst casual bashers might go several seasons. Signs that replacement is needed include grinding or whining noises from the gearbox, loss of power delivery, or visible damage to the teeth. Keeping spare gears on hand is essential for any serious RC enthusiast.
  • Can I adjust my RC car's performance by changing the pinion gear tooth count? — Absolutely. A higher tooth count (e.g., 28T instead of 26T) increases the gear ratio, resulting in faster acceleration but lower top speed. A lower tooth count (e.g., 24T) gives less acceleration but higher top speed. Different tracks and driving styles benefit from different ratios, so many competitors carry several pinion gears to optimise their setup.
  • Is this gear suitable for beginners? — Yes, this is a genuine replacement part suitable for any RC enthusiast, from beginners maintaining their first ready to run RC vehicle to experienced competitors fine-tuning their race setup. It's not a complex upgrade—simply a straightforward parts replacement that restores or optimises your vehicle's performance.
