Overview
The ARRMA 24T 0.8Mod 1/8 inch Bore CNC Steel Pinion Gear is an essential transmission component for RC enthusiasts looking to fine-tune their vehicle's performance. Whether you're running an ARRMA Infraction 4x4 or another compatible 1/8 scale RC model, this precision-engineered pinion gear allows you to adjust your gear ratio for optimised acceleration, top speed, and overall drivetrain efficiency. Built from hardened steel and manufactured to exacting CNC standards, this is the kind of upgrade that serious RC car UK hobbyists and competitors rely on to extract maximum performance from their machines.
Pinion gears are one of the most important tuning tools in RC motorsport. By changing your pinion tooth count, you can alter how your motor and spur gear interact, directly affecting how your vehicle accelerates and reaches its top speed. This 24-tooth option is popular across multiple ARRMA platforms and represents a mid-range gearing choice that balances responsiveness with top-end speed. For bashers, racers, and anyone serious about getting the best from their ready to run RC car or competition build, having spare pinion gears in different tooth counts is standard practice.
Supplied complete with an M4 x 4mm set screw and laser-etched tooth identification markings, this gear is ready to install straight out of the box. The precision threaded set-screw hole ensures secure, reliable mounting to your motor shaft, whilst the wide tooth profile delivers smooth, efficient power transmission without noise or vibration issues that can plague inferior gears.
Key Features
- CNC Machined Steel Construction — This pinion gear is manufactured from hardened steel using precision CNC machining, which means every tooth is cut to exact specifications for perfect engagement with your spur gear, ensuring reliable performance lap after lap without premature wear or stripping.
- 24-Tooth Configuration — The 24-tooth count provides a balanced mid-range gearing option that is particularly effective for general-purpose RC driving, allowing you to fine-tune your vehicle's acceleration and top speed characteristics to suit your driving style and track conditions.
- 0.8 Module Pitch — The 0.8 module pitch ensures compatibility with ARRMA's standard transmission architecture and other vehicles using matching spur gears, guaranteeing seamless integration and optimal power transfer across your drivetrain.
- 1/8 Inch Motor Shaft Bore — Specifically designed to fit 1/8 inch (3.175mm) motor shafts, this gear works perfectly with ARRMA's brushless and brushed motor offerings found in their 1/8 scale vehicle range and compatible systems from other manufacturers.
- Wide Tooth Profile — The wider tooth design distributes load more effectively across the gear mesh, reducing stress on individual teeth and delivering noticeably smoother, quieter operation even under full throttle in extreme RC conditions.
- Laser-Etched Identification — Each gear is laser-marked with its tooth count for instant visual identification, making it easy to organise your spare gears collection and ensure you're fitting the correct ratio during setup and tuning sessions.
- Precision Threaded Set-Screw Hole — The M4 threaded hole is machined to precise tolerances, allowing for secure, repeatable fastening of your motor shaft without risk of stripping or loosening during high-speed runs or impacts.
- Included M4 x 4mm Set Screw — A quality set screw is included in the box, so you have everything needed for immediate installation without hunting for compatible fasteners from other suppliers.
Technical Performance
The ARRMA 24T 0.8Mod pinion gear represents the pinnacle of precision manufacturing for RC drivetrain components. Manufactured from hardened steel through CNC machining, every tooth is cut to exacting specifications that guarantee perfect mesh engagement with compatible spur gears, eliminating the slop and inefficiency that develops in lower-quality alternatives. The wide tooth profile is a critical engineering feature — it distributes rotational forces across a larger contact area, which significantly reduces the stress concentration on individual teeth that leads to premature stripping and failure. This is particularly important in high-performance applications where you're feeding high torque outputs from brushless motors or sustained power from brushed systems into your transmission. The 24-tooth specification positions this gear as a versatile mid-range option suitable for both speed-focused setups and acceleration-biased configurations depending on your spur gear selection. At 0.8 module pitch with a 1/8 inch bore, this gear integrates seamlessly with ARRMA's transmission ecosystem and maintains the high engineering standards that ARRMA is renowned for in the RC hobby. Whether you're bashing casually on grass and dirt tracks or competing in organised racing events across the UK, this pinion gear delivers the reliability and performance that serious enthusiasts expect.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a pinion gear and why would I need to change it? — A pinion gear is the small gear that mounts directly onto your motor shaft and meshes with the larger spur gear attached to your vehicle's transmission. By changing pinion tooth count, you alter your vehicle's final drive ratio: more teeth give you quicker acceleration but lower top speed, whilst fewer teeth deliver higher top speed but slower acceleration. This 24-tooth option is a balanced mid-range choice.
- Which ARRMA vehicles is this gear compatible with? — This pinion gear is specifically listed as a standard part for the ARRMA Infraction 4x4 RTR in 1/8 scale. However, it will fit any RC vehicle that uses a 1/8 inch (3.175mm) motor shaft bore with 0.8 module pitch spur gears, which covers many ARRMA models and compatible systems from other manufacturers.
- What is the difference between 0.8 module and other module sizes? — Module pitch determines tooth spacing and size. 0.8 module is ARRMA's standard for their 1/8 scale transmissions. Using a different module pitch would result in poor mesh engagement and drivetrain damage. Always match your pinion gear module to your spur gear module.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Whilst pinion gear installation is straightforward and ideal for DIY enthusiasts, beginners should understand that gear ratio tuning is an intermediate skill. Changing your pinion teeth will noticeably alter your vehicle's handling and performance characteristics, so it's best approached once you're familiar with your RC car's baseline setup.
- How do I install this pinion gear? — The pinion gear slides onto your motor shaft and is secured using the included M4 x 4mm set screw tightened into the precision-threaded hole. Ensure the set screw is tight enough to prevent slipping but not so tight that it strips the bore or damages the shaft.
- What's the advantage of CNC machining over stamped gears? — CNC-machined gears have perfectly cut teeth with consistent spacing and profile, delivering reliable mesh engagement, smooth operation, and longevity. Stamped or cast gears often have inconsistencies that cause noise, vibration, and premature tooth wear, which is why serious RC enthusiasts choose precision CNC gears.
- Can I use this gear with brushed and brushless motors? — Yes, this pinion gear is purely a mechanical component that works with any motor type. Compatibility is determined by motor shaft diameter (1/8 inch required) and the module pitch of your spur gear, not the motor's electrical characteristics.
