Overview

The ARRMA 19T 0.8Mod 1/8 inch Bore CNC Steel Pinion Gear is an essential transmission component for serious RC enthusiasts looking to fine-tune and optimise their vehicle's performance. Whether you're running an ARRMA 1/8 scale RC buggy, truggy, or other compatible models, this precision-engineered pinion gear represents the level of quality and durability you'd expect from one of the world's leading RC manufacturers. With a customer rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars, this component has proven itself in the hands of RC drivers across the UK and beyond.

This tough steel pinion gear is the perfect part for tuning the gear ratio of your vehicle to match your specific driving conditions, whether you're tackling high-speed circuits, technical terrain, or pushing your RC car to its limits. The 19-tooth configuration offers a balanced approach to power delivery and top speed, making it a popular choice for drivers who want to adjust their existing setup without committing to a complete transmission overhaul. If you're serious about getting the best performance from your ready to run RC or kit-based model, having quality replacement and upgrade pinion gears on hand is essential.

As an authorised ARRMA dealer, RC Model Shop stocks genuine OEM parts like this pinion gear, ensuring you receive authentic components that have been specifically engineered to work seamlessly with your ARRMA RC vehicle. The gear is laser etched with the tooth count for easy identification, and every unit comes with the M4 x 4mm set screw needed for installation.

Key Features

  • CNC Precision Machined — Every tooth is cut with computer numerical control machining to deliver exact specifications and consistent mesh with your spur gear, ensuring smooth power delivery with minimal noise and vibration during operation.
  • Strong and Durable Steel Construction — The hardened steel material provides exceptional strength and longevity, capable of withstanding extreme RC racing conditions, high torque loads, and repeated impacts that would destroy inferior plastic or softer metal gears.
  • Wide Tooth Profile — The wider tooth design distributes pressure more evenly across the gear mesh, reducing stress concentration points and enabling smooth, reliable operation even under high acceleration and braking forces.
  • 1/8 Inch Bore Compatibility — With a precisely manufactured 3.175mm (1/8 inch) bore diameter, this pinion gear fits standard 1/8 scale ARRMA motor shafts, making it compatible with a wide range of ARRMA models including the INFRACTION 4X4, TYPHON MEGA 665 4X4, and many others.
  • Precision Threaded Set-Screw Hole — The M4 threaded hole is manufactured with exacting tolerances, ensuring that the included set screw seats firmly without stripping or slipping during use, maintaining your gear in perfect alignment.
  • Laser Etched Identification — The tooth count is clearly marked on the gear with a permanent laser etch, making it instantly recognisable in your parts box and preventing mix-ups when swapping between different gear ratios.
  • Included M4 x 4mm Set Screw — Every package includes the correctly sized set screw needed for installation, so you have everything required to get your RC car back on the track without waiting for additional parts to arrive.

Technical Performance

This 19-tooth pinion gear is engineered to the 0.8 Module specification, which defines the tooth profile and pitch diameter in relation to the number of teeth. The module system is the international standard for gear design, and the 0.8 Module sizing ensures precise compatibility with ARRMA's spur gears and drivetrain components. The CNC machining process produces gears with exceptional precision, with teeth cut to exact specifications that minimise backlash and maximise the efficiency of power transfer from your motor to the wheels. In practical terms, this means you'll experience more responsive handling, better acceleration control, and reduced drivetrain noise compared to lower-quality aftermarket alternatives or worn OEM gears. The wide tooth profile is particularly important for 1/8 scale racing where high torque loads are common; the increased contact area between the pinion and spur gear allows for smoother meshing and distributes stress more evenly across the tooth surfaces. The hardened steel material used throughout ensures that the gear can handle repeated high-power starts, sharp acceleration, and the occasional impact without chipping or deforming. For UK-based RC racers and bashers running 1/8 scale models, this pinion gear represents a genuine upgrade over standard plastic alternatives and a critical maintenance item for keeping your vehicle running at peak efficiency. The 19-tooth count provides a good balance between top speed and acceleration; moving to a lower tooth count would increase top speed but reduce low-end torque, whilst a higher tooth count would do the opposite, making the 19T a popular middle ground for many different driving styles and track conditions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What ARRMA models does this 19T pinion gear fit? — According to ARRMA's official fitment information, this gear is listed as compatible with numerous ARRMA models including the 1/10 FURY 2WD RTR and RTA kits, the 1/10 GORGON 2WD RTA Kit and RTR variants, the 1/10 GRANITE MEGA 665 4X4 RTR, the 1/10 VORTEKS 2WD RTR, the 1/8 INFRACTION 4X4 RTR, and the 1/8 TYPHON MEGA 665 4X4 RTR Brushed Buggy. Check your vehicle's manual or contact us to confirm compatibility with your specific model before ordering.
  • Is this a genuine ARRMA part or an aftermarket alternative? — This is an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) part from ARRMA, model number ARA311081 (Z-ARA311081 in UK retail), meaning it is the authentic component designed by ARRMA engineers for their vehicles. ARRMA parts are recognised worldwide for quality and durability, and purchasing genuine OEM components ensures compatibility and reliability.
  • What is the difference between the 19T and other tooth counts like 16T, 18T, or 20T? — The tooth count directly affects your vehicle's gear ratio and performance characteristics. A lower tooth count like 16T or 18T will increase your top speed but reduce low-end acceleration and torque. The 19T sits in the middle, offering a balanced approach. A higher count like 20T would decrease top speed but improve acceleration. Choose based on your track or terrain; tighter technical courses often prefer slightly higher counts for better acceleration control, whilst open fast tracks might benefit from lower counts. The 0.8 Module specification remains the same across these variants, ensuring they all mesh correctly with standard ARRMA spur gears.
  • Will this pinion gear improve my RC car's performance? — If you're replacing a worn OEM gear, yes—a fresh CNC-machined pinion gear will restore smooth operation, reduce noise, and improve power delivery efficiency. If you're changing from a different tooth count to the 19T, the performance change will depend on what you had before. The CNC precision ensures minimal backlash and maximum efficiency, so this will always be a better choice than plastic gears or poorly machined alternatives.
  • How difficult is it to install this pinion gear? — Installation is straightforward and suitable for intermediate RC builders. You'll need to remove your motor from the vehicle, slide the pinion gear onto the motor shaft, align it properly with your spur gear, and tighten the included M4 x 4mm set screw firmly. Most users can complete this in 10-15 minutes. If you're unfamiliar with drivetrain work, our team at RC Model Shop can advise you on the process or check if your local store can assist with installation.
  • What is the bore diameter and why does it matter? — The bore diameter is 1/8 inch (3.175mm), which is the hole size that slides onto your motor shaft. This precise specification is critical because an incorrect bore diameter won't fit your motor or will slide around loosely, causing misalignment and poor meshing with your spur gear. Always verify that any pinion gear you purchase has the correct 1/8 inch bore for your specific ARRMA model.
  • Is this gear suitable for both racing and bashing? — Yes, absolutely. The hardened steel construction and wide tooth profile make this gear equally at home in competitive racing situations where precision and reliability are essential, or in casual bashing scenarios where durability and resistance to impact are priorities. Many UK RC enthusiasts use identical gears for both applications.
  • Do I need any tools to install this pinion gear? — You'll need basic RC tools: a small allen key or hex driver that fits your motor shaft's set screw, and ideally a small screwdriver to help position the gear correctly during installation. A gear mesh gauge or feeler gauge is useful for setting the correct distance between the pinion and spur gears, though experienced drivers can often judge this by feel.
