Overview
The ARRMA 15T 0.8Mod 1/8" Bore CNC Steel Pinion Gear is an essential replacement part for RC enthusiasts who demand reliability and precision in their high-performance machines. Whether you're running an ARRMA 1/8 scale buggy, truck, or truggy, this pinion gear represents the perfect balance of durability and smooth operation. As a dedicated RC car UK retailer, we understand that transmission components take a real beating during intense driving sessions, which is why having quality replacement gears in your RC tool box is absolutely crucial for keeping your model performing at its peak.
This tough steel 15-tooth pinion gear is precision-manufactured using CNC machining to deliver the exact tooth profile that ensures smooth engagement with your spur gear. The 0.8 module specification makes this gear compatible with ARRMA's 1/8 scale drivetrain systems, and the 1/8" (3.175mm) bore diameter is designed to fit standard 1/8 scale motor shafts perfectly. Whether you're a weekend basher exploring the world of RC for the first time or an experienced competitor pushing your machine to the limit, having the correct pinion gear specification is fundamental to achieving optimal performance and longevity from your RC vehicle.
Unlike generic or poorly manufactured pinion gears, this ARRMA original part is engineered with the exact tolerances required for your specific model. The laser etching showing the tooth count makes identification straightforward when you're working on your RC car, and the included M4 x 4mm set screw ensures secure mounting to your motor shaft without slipping or movement during aggressive acceleration and cornering.
Key Features
- Strong and durable steel construction — The gear is manufactured from high-quality steel that resists wear and damage even during extreme RC conditions, ensuring your pinion gear maintains its tooth profile and performance characteristics over many hours of use.
- Precision CNC machined teeth — Every tooth is cut using computer numerical control machinery to deliver exact specifications, which means smooth, quiet operation and minimal backlash between the pinion and spur gear for improved power transfer and handling.
- Wide tooth profile design — The tooth geometry is engineered to distribute loads across a larger surface area, reducing stress concentrations and extending the working life of both the pinion gear and the spur gear it meshes with.
- Compatible with 1/8" motor shaft diameter — The 3.175mm bore is precisely sized for standard 1/8 scale brushless and brushed motors used in ARRMA 1/8 scale models, ensuring a secure fit without wobble or runout.
- Laser etched tooth count identification — The "15T" designation is permanently marked on the gear surface, making it impossible to mix up with other tooth counts in your spare parts collection.
- Precision manufactured threaded set-screw hole — The M4 threaded hole is machined to exact specifications, allowing the included set screw to grip your motor shaft firmly and securely without slipping, even under full throttle acceleration.
- Includes M4 x 4mm set screw — A quality set screw is supplied with the gear, ready to install immediately without the need to source additional fasteners.
Technical Performance
This 15-tooth 0.8 module pinion gear represents a critical component in your ARRMA 1/8 scale RC drivetrain. The 0.8 module specification indicates the gear pitch, which determines how the pinion meshes with your spur gear and ultimately affects your vehicle's acceleration, top speed, and motor load characteristics. In brushless RC car UK applications, selecting the correct pinion tooth count is essential for balancing performance with motor efficiency and battery runtime. The steel construction provides superior durability compared to plastic or aluminium alternatives, resisting the extreme forces generated by powerful brushless motors and aggressive driving styles. The CNC precision machining ensures that every tooth has consistent geometry, which is critical for smooth power delivery and reduced vibration during high-speed running. The wide tooth profile design spreads the load across multiple teeth simultaneously, dramatically reducing the stress on any single tooth and extending gear life. For 1/8 scale RC buggies, trucks, and truggys powered by brushless motors, this pinion gear delivers reliable performance lap after lap, whether you're racing on tight indoor carpet tracks or bashing across rough outdoor terrain. The precision set-screw hole ensures that your motor shaft remains firmly connected to the gear without any movement, which is absolutely essential for maintaining proper gear mesh and preventing loss of power transmission during acceleration and braking.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is the 0.8 module specification and why does it matter for my RC car? — The 0.8 module is a measurement that describes the gear pitch or tooth size. It determines how the pinion gear meshes with your spur gear and affects the overall gear ratio, which directly influences acceleration, top speed, and motor load. Using the correct module is essential for proper gear engagement and smooth operation.
- How do I know if this 15T pinion gear is the right tooth count for my ARRMA model? — The 15-tooth specification is designed for specific ARRMA 1/8 scale models where this tooth count is either the factory standard or a popular upgrade option. We recommend checking your vehicle's manual or contacting our expert team at RC Model Shop to confirm compatibility with your specific model before ordering.
- What is the difference between the 1/8" bore and other bore sizes available? — The 1/8" (3.175mm) bore diameter is specifically sized to fit standard 1/8 scale brushless and brushed motor shafts used in ARRMA 1/8 vehicles. Using the wrong bore size will result in either a loose fit that causes slipping or a tight fit that won't install properly, so accurate sizing is critical.
- Why is CNC machining important for pinion gears? — CNC machining ensures that every tooth is cut to exact specifications with consistent geometry and tolerances. This precision results in smooth, quiet operation with minimal backlash and vibration, superior performance compared to injection-moulded or manually cut gears, and extended gear life due to even load distribution.
- Can I use this pinion gear as a direct replacement for my existing one? — Yes, if your ARRMA 1/8 scale model originally came equipped with a 15-tooth 0.8 module pinion gear with a 1/8" bore, this is a direct replacement. However, if you're upgrading from a different tooth count, that will change your vehicle's performance characteristics, so consult your manual or our team first.
- How do I install the set screw to secure the pinion gear to my motor shaft? — The included M4 x 4mm set screw threads into the precision-machined hole on the gear. Slide the gear onto your motor shaft, align it properly, and then tighten the set screw firmly using an appropriate hex key. The screw should be tight enough to prevent any slipping or rotation but not so tight that it damages the shaft.
- What's the difference between steel and plastic pinion gears? — Steel pinion gears like this one offer superior durability and resistance to wear compared to plastic alternatives. Steel gears can handle higher motor torque and more aggressive driving without stripping teeth, making them the preferred choice for serious RC enthusiasts and competitive racers.
