Frequently Asked Questions
- What ARRMA models are these shock springs compatible with? — These springs are designed to fit ARRMA vehicles including the 1/7 MOJAVE 6S 4X4 RTR Brushless Desert Truck and related ARRMA models with compatible shock absorber assemblies. Always verify your specific model number against the compatibility list before purchasing to ensure perfect fitment.
- How do shock springs affect my RC car's handling? — Shock springs are fundamental to your vehicle's suspension setup, directly influencing how quickly your chassis rises and falls when encountering bumps and terrain variations. A softer spring (lower N/mm rating) allows more suspension travel and smoother ride characteristics, whilst a stiffer spring (higher N/mm rating) provides more responsive handling and quicker weight transfer during aggressive cornering. The 1.5N/mm rating of these springs provides a balanced setup suitable for diverse track conditions.
- When should I replace my shock springs? — Shock springs should be inspected regularly for signs of fatigue, permanent deformation, or loss of spring rate. If your vehicle feels less responsive, sits lower than previously, or doesn't recover quickly from bumps, it may be time to replace your springs. Even without visible damage, springs can gradually lose effectiveness through normal use, making replacement part of regular RC maintenance.
- Can I use these springs with different shock absorbers? — These springs are specifically engineered for ARRMA shock absorber assemblies. Whilst the physical dimensions may appear similar to other brands, using them with incompatible shock absorbers could result in improper suspension geometry, compromised handling, and potential safety issues. Always use springs rated for your specific shock absorber design.
- What is the difference between 1.5N/mm and other spring rates? — Spring rate is measured in force per unit of compression. The 1.5N/mm rate means that each millimetre of compression requires 1.5 Newtons of force. Lower ratings (softer springs) compress more easily but may result in excessive chassis squat; higher ratings (stiffer springs) resist compression but can create a harsher ride. The 1.5N/mm rating of these ARRMA springs represents a well-balanced choice for general-purpose RC driving across varied conditions.
- Do I need to buy these springs in pairs? — These springs are sold as a pair, providing two individual springs. Depending on your suspension setup, you might use both for a complete front or rear suspension upgrade, or maintain one set for spares. Most RC builders keep multiple spring rates on hand to quickly adapt their setup to different driving conditions and track environments.
