Overview
The ARRMA 19T Mod1 Safe-D8 Pinion Gear Z-ARA311039 is a high-quality replacement pinion gear designed specifically for ARRMA RC vehicles. Whether you're a dedicated RC car enthusiast in the UK, a weekend basher, or someone building their first brushless RC setup, this pinion gear is an essential component for optimising your vehicle's performance and drivetrain compatibility. ARRMA is renowned for engineering robust RC cars that deliver exceptional reliability and performance, and their genuine replacement parts uphold that same standard of quality and precision.
Pinion gears are critical drivetrain components that directly influence how your RC car's motor power is transmitted to the spur gear and wheels. The 19-tooth configuration on this Mod1 pitch gear provides an ideal balance for most ARRMA vehicles, making it a popular choice for drivers looking to maintain factory specifications or fine-tune their gearing ratios. This is not a novelty item—it's a genuine ARRMA part engineered to exact tolerances, ensuring smooth meshing, minimal wear, and reliable performance lap after lap or bash session after bash session.
If you own an ARRMA RC buggy, truck, or short course vehicle and need to replace a worn or damaged pinion gear, or if you're upgrading your setup with a different gearing ratio, the Z-ARA311039 is the authentic choice. Buying genuine OEM parts from authorised UK retailers like RC Model Shop ensures you receive a product that meets ARRMA's exacting standards and comes with the confidence of a reputable supplier.
Key Features
- 19-Tooth Pinion Design — The 19-tooth configuration is a proven gearing choice for ARRMA vehicles, offering responsive acceleration and balanced top-end performance across a wide range of driving conditions and motor setups.
- Mod 1 Pitch Standard — This pinion gear uses the Mod 1 (Module 1) pitch specification, which is the industry-standard tooth profile for RC car drivetrain components, ensuring perfect meshing compatibility with your ARRMA spur gear and reliable power delivery.
- Safe-D8 Bore Specification — The Safe-D8 bore design provides a secure, keyed connection to your motor shaft, preventing slippage and ensuring consistent engagement without the pinion gear spinning or losing sync during aggressive driving or high-torque situations.
- Genuine ARRMA Component — This is an authentic OEM part manufactured to ARRMA's exact specifications, guaranteeing quality, durability, and perfect compatibility with your ARRMA vehicle without any fitment issues or guesswork.
- Precision-Machined Construction — The gear teeth are precision-cut to tight tolerances, ensuring smooth engagement with your spur gear, minimal backlash, reduced noise, and extended drivetrain longevity.
Technical Performance
The ARRMA 19T Mod1 Safe-D8 Pinion Gear is engineered with the precision and durability expected from genuine ARRMA replacement components. Machined from high-quality materials and finished to exact specifications, this pinion gear delivers reliable performance in the demanding world of RC car driving. The Mod 1 pitch is the universal standard for RC vehicles, meaning this gear meshes perfectly with ARRMA's matching spur gears without any compatibility concerns. The Safe-D8 bore feature is a significant advantage for drivers who experience pinion slippage or inconsistent power delivery—the keyed design locks the gear firmly onto your motor shaft, eliminating the frustration of a spinning pinion and ensuring every bit of motor torque is transferred directly to the drivetrain. Whether you're running a brushless motor system with a modern ESC, bashing at high speeds, or competing in organised RC racing events, this pinion gear provides the reliability and precision you need. The 19-tooth size is versatile, suiting a wide range of motor speeds and power levels commonly used in 1/10-scale ARRMA vehicles, from moderate fun-driving setups to high-performance competitive configurations. When combined with the correct spur gear ratio, this pinion enables tuning of your vehicle's acceleration and top speed characteristics, making it an essential upgrade or replacement component for any ARRMA owner.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What does the 19T specification mean on this pinion gear? — The 19T refers to the number of teeth on the gear. A 19-tooth pinion is a mid-range size that works well with a wide variety of motor KV ratings and spur gear combinations, making it a popular choice for general-purpose RC driving, bashing, and racing across ARRMA's vehicle range.
- What is Mod 1 pitch and why does it matter? — Mod 1 (Module 1) is the industry-standard tooth profile for RC car gears. It describes the size and shape of the gear teeth, ensuring compatibility with other Mod 1 components. All ARRMA gears use Mod 1 pitch, so this pinion will mesh perfectly with your vehicle's spur gear without any compatibility problems.
- What is a Safe-D8 bore and what are the benefits? — The Safe-D8 bore is a keyed connection point where the pinion gear attaches to your motor shaft. Unlike a simple friction-fit pinion, the Safe-D8 design includes a mechanical key or spline that locks the gear in place, preventing it from spinning independently on the shaft. This ensures reliable power delivery, eliminates slippage during aggressive acceleration, and improves overall drivetrain consistency.
- Is this a genuine ARRMA part? — Yes, the Z-ARA311039 is an official OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) part from ARRMA. When you purchase from RC Model Shop, an authorised ARRMA retailer, you receive a genuine component backed by ARRMA's quality standards and warranty support.
- How do I know if I need to replace my pinion gear? — Common signs of pinion wear include visible tooth damage, slippage of the gear on the motor shaft, unusual noise from the drivetrain, or loss of acceleration response. If your vehicle is new or you're upgrading your gearing for performance tuning, you may also need a different tooth count—in which case this 19T option is worth considering.
- What gearing combinations work with a 19-tooth pinion? — The overall gear ratio depends on both your pinion tooth count and your spur gear tooth count. A 19T pinion pairs with various spur sizes to create different final drive ratios. For specific gearing recommendations, consult your ARRMA vehicle manual or speak to the experts at RC Model Shop.
- Can I use this pinion on any ARRMA vehicle? — The Z-ARA311039 is designed for ARRMA vehicles that use Mod 1 pitch gears with Safe-D8 bore motor shafts. Check your vehicle's specifications or manual to confirm compatibility. Not all ARRMA vehicles use the same motor bore design, so verification is important before purchase.
- What tools do I need to install this pinion gear? — You will need a pinion gear puller tool (a small mechanical tool that safely extracts the old gear from your motor shaft) and potentially a small wrench or hex key to secure the new gear. Never force a pinion gear onto or off a motor shaft, as this can damage the shaft or gear teeth.
