Overview

The ARRMA 23T 0.8Mod Safe-D5 Pinion Gear (Z-ARA311006) is an essential replacement component for serious RC enthusiasts and competitors who demand reliability and precision from their electric RC car setups. This tough steel pinion gear is engineered to deliver consistent performance in extreme RC conditions, making it the perfect addition to your RC tool box. Whether you're running a high-performance 1/10 scale RC car or need a reliable spare for competitive racing, this precision-manufactured pinion gear ensures smooth power delivery and dependable operation every time you hit the track or bash ground.

Designed specifically for ARRMA vehicles and compatible RC platforms with 5mm motor shafts, the 23T configuration offers an excellent balance of acceleration and top-end performance. RC enthusiasts across the UK rely on genuine ARRMA spare parts to maintain their vehicles at peak performance, and this pinion gear is no exception. The Safe-D5 bore design is a game-changer for RC car owners, as it provides critical safety features that prevent costly damage and lost drives during intense racing sessions.

This is a genuine ARRMA OEM component that matches factory specifications precisely, ensuring perfect compatibility and seamless integration with your existing RC setup. Whether you're replacing a worn pinion or building up a spare driveline for competition, the ARRMA 23T 0.8Mod Safe-D5 Pinion Gear delivers the precision and durability that serious RC car enthusiasts demand.

Key Features

  • Strong and durable steel construction — Manufactured from hardened steel for long-lasting performance in extreme RC conditions, this pinion gear resists wear and maintains its tooth profile integrity even under high-torque racing scenarios.
  • Precision manufactured wide tooth profile — The carefully engineered tooth geometry ensures smooth, quiet operation with minimal backlash, delivering efficient power transfer from your brushless motor to the main gear whilst reducing drivetrain stress.
  • Safe-D5 bore design — The distinctive D-shaped hole matches your motor shaft profile precisely, which means drive and brakes are not lost if the set-screw accidentally backs out during intense racing or bashing sessions, preventing mid-race failures and expensive damage.
  • Compatible with 5mm motor shafts — This pinion gear suits standard 5mm diameter motor shafts found on most modern ARRMA RC cars, ensuring straightforward installation without requiring shaft adaptors or modifications.
  • Precision manufactured threaded set-screw hole — The accurately machined M4 x 4mm set-screw hole ensures a secure fit that won't strip or loosen over time, maintaining consistent gear mesh and preventing slippage during acceleration or braking.
  • E-clip retention system supplied — The included 3.2mm E-clip provides secondary retention for your motor shaft pinion, offering an additional layer of security that keeps your pinion gear locked in place even if vibration causes the set-screw to loosen slightly.

Technical Performance

The ARRMA 23T 0.8Mod Safe-D5 Pinion Gear represents a carefully engineered balance of performance and durability that appeals to both weekend bashers and competitive RC car racers across the UK. With 23 teeth and a 0.8 Module pitch, this pinion delivers optimal engagement with standard ARRMA spur gears, creating a smooth drivetrain with minimal noise and vibration. The 0.8 Module specification is a precision gear pitch standard that ensures perfect mesh compatibility with genuine ARRMA main gears, preventing the premature wear and efficiency loss that can occur when mixing incompatible gear pitches. The steel construction provides superior strength compared to alternative materials, resisting the extreme torque loads generated by brushless motor systems whilst maintaining dimensional stability through extended racing sessions. The precision wide tooth profile has been engineered to distribute loads evenly across multiple teeth simultaneously, which significantly reduces impact stress and extends the lifespan of your entire drivetrain. Whether you're running a high-KV brushless motor setup or a lower-KV configuration, this pinion gear integrates seamlessly into your RC car's power delivery chain. The Safe-D5 bore is particularly valuable for RC enthusiasts who run their vehicles at the limit, as the D-shaped interface prevents catastrophic drive loss that could otherwise cause your RC car to suddenly lose all acceleration and braking capability mid-race.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does the Safe-D5 bore design do and why is it important? — The Safe-D5 bore features a D-shaped hole that matches your motor shaft's profile, which means if the set-screw accidentally backs out during racing or bashing, you won't lose drive and brakes. This is a critical safety feature that prevents mid-race failures and expensive damage to your RC car's drivetrain.
  • Is the ARRMA 23T 0.8Mod Safe-D5 Pinion Gear compatible with my RC car? — This pinion gear suits any RC car or truck with a 5mm diameter motor shaft and ARRMA-compatible drivetrain, including most modern ARRMA vehicles. If your vehicle has a different shaft diameter or uses a different gear pitch standard, you'll need to verify compatibility before ordering.
  • Will this pinion gear work with my brushless motor setup? — Yes, absolutely. This steel pinion gear is specifically engineered to handle the high torque output of brushless motor systems commonly used in modern RC cars across the UK. The wide tooth profile and precision manufacturing ensure smooth, efficient power delivery without excessive noise or vibration.
  • What is the difference between the 23T and other tooth count options? — The 23T pinion gear provides a good balance between acceleration and top-end speed, offering moderate gearing that suits mixed-terrain bashing and recreational racing. Lower tooth counts (such as 14T or 15T) provide quicker acceleration but lower top speed, whilst higher tooth counts deliver higher maximum speed but reduced acceleration.
  • Do I need any tools to install this pinion gear? — Installation requires a small set-screw driver or hex key to tighten the M4 x 4mm set-screw, and possibly a small tool to install the E-clip. Most RC enthusiasts have these basic tools in their RC tool box already.
  • Why should I choose genuine ARRMA parts instead of aftermarket alternatives? — Genuine ARRMA OEM components like this pinion gear are engineered to precise factory specifications, ensuring perfect compatibility and performance with your vehicle. Using genuine parts maintains your vehicle's warranty, guarantees dimensional accuracy, and ensures the quality control standards that ARRMA is recognised for.
