Overview

The Team Associated AS89317 Droop Screws are genuine replacement spare parts designed specifically for the RC8 platform of Team Associated RC cars. These precision-engineered fasteners are essential tuning components for anyone serious about optimising their RC buggy or truck's suspension geometry and handling characteristics. Whether you're running an RC8T3, RC8B3.1, RC8B3.2, or any other model in the extensive RC8 family, these droop screws provide the critical adjustment point needed to fine-tune your vehicle's suspension down-travel. Available at competitive prices from RC Model Shop, these are the authentic parts trusted by RC enthusiasts and competitors across the UK who demand nothing but genuine Team Associated components for their machines.

If you're a dedicated RC racer looking to achieve repeatable, consistent handling across different track conditions, or a weekend basher who wants to dial in the perfect setup for your favourite terrain, understanding and adjusting droop is fundamental to unlocking your RC car's true potential. These small but mighty fasteners act as the lower arm stop, controlling how far your suspension can compress downward and directly influencing weight transfer, corner balance, and overall bump compliance. Team Associated has engineered these droop screws to exacting standards, ensuring they work perfectly within the sophisticated suspension geometry of the RC8 platform.

The RC8 range represents some of the most competitive and capable RC buggies and trucks available to UK-based hobbyists today. From the racing-focused RC8T3 truggy to the versatile RC8B3.1 and RC8B3.2 buggies, these vehicles demand precision components that can handle demanding conditions. Having genuine Team Associated spare parts like the AS89317 droop screws on hand means you're always ready to make suspension adjustments, perform maintenance, or replace worn components without compromising your vehicle's performance or reliability.

Key Features

  • Genuine Team Associated Original Part — These are authentic OEM spare parts manufactured by Team Associated, ensuring they meet the exact specifications and tolerances required for perfect fit and function on your RC8 platform vehicle. Using genuine parts guarantees compatibility and performance that third-party alternatives simply cannot match.
  • M4 x 12mm BHCS (Button Head Cap Screw) — The M4 thread size with 0.7mm pitch and 12mm length provides the precise dimensions needed for the RC8 suspension geometry. Button head cap screws feature a lower profile than standard cap screws, making them ideal for applications where clearance is critical. The black finish provides both corrosion resistance and a clean, professional appearance on your RC car.
  • Lower Arm Stop Function — These droop screws serve as the mechanical stop that limits how far your suspension can compress downward during braking, cornering, and rough terrain navigation. This function is absolutely critical for controlling weight transfer and maintaining predictable handling characteristics across different driving conditions.
  • Suspension Tuning Capability — By adjusting the position or length of the droop screw, you can fine-tune how much your suspension compresses, directly affecting corner balance, bump compliance, and overall vehicle behaviour. This tuning capability makes droop screws an essential part of any serious RC setup toolkit.
  • Universal Compatibility Across RC8 Range — These screws fit the entire RC8 family including RC8T, RC8Te, SC8e, RC8B, RC8Be, RC8.2, RC8.2e, RC8B3, RC8B3e, RC8T3, RC8T3e, RC8B3.1, RC8B3.1e, RC8T3.1e, RC8T3.1, RC8B3.2, RC8B3.2e, RC8T3.2, RC8T3.2e, RC8B4, RC8B4e, RC8T4, RC8T4e, RC8B4.1, and RC8B4.1e models, making them an invaluable spare for collectors and drivers with multiple RC8 vehicles.
  • Black Anodised Finish — The black finish not only looks professional and matches the aesthetic of modern RC cars, but also provides protection against corrosion and wear, ensuring these fasteners remain reliable through countless hours of driving.

Technical Performance

The AS89317 droop screws represent the kind of precision engineering that sets Team Associated apart in the competitive RC racing market. Manufactured to exacting tolerances, the M4 x 0.7 x 12mm BHCS specification ensures these fasteners work perfectly within the sophisticated suspension geometry of the RC8 platform. The button head cap screw design minimises interference with surrounding suspension components whilst providing secure, reliable fastening. The black finish is applied through a process that provides both aesthetic appeal and functional corrosion resistance, essential for RC components that are regularly exposed to moisture, dirt, and environmental contaminants. These droop screws are not simply replacement parts—they are tuning instruments that allow experienced drivers to dial in suspension characteristics with precision. The relationship between droop adjustment and vehicle handling is complex but well-understood in the competitive RC world: altering droop affects weight transfer during acceleration and braking, influences how the suspension responds to bumps and terrain irregularities, and directly impacts corner balance and overall predictability. For UK-based RC enthusiasts running RC8 buggies and trucks in competition or casual driving, having genuine Team Associated droop screws ensures you're working with components that have been proven in the harshest racing environments.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What exactly do droop screws do on my RC8 buggy or truck? — Droop screws act as the mechanical stop that limits how far your suspension's lower arm can travel downward. When you brake hard or hit a bump, your suspension compresses upward relative to the chassis. Droop screws prevent excessive downward travel, which is critical for maintaining proper suspension geometry and predictable handling. Adjusting where these screws are positioned allows you to fine-tune how much compression is allowed, directly affecting weight transfer, corner balance, and bump compliance.
  • Why would I need to replace my droop screws? — Over time, especially in competition use or aggressive bashing, fasteners can become worn, damaged, or lost. Having genuine replacement Team Associated droop screws on hand means you can quickly restore your suspension to factory specifications without compromising performance. Additionally, if you're experimenting with different droop settings, having spare screws of the correct specification allows you to make adjustments without delays.
  • Are these compatible with all RC8 models? — Yes, the AS89317 droop screws are designed to fit the entire RC8 platform, including the RC8T3, RC8B3.1, RC8B3.2, and many other variants from RC8 through RC8B4.1. However, always verify compatibility with your specific model's manual before purchasing, as this is the most authoritative source for parts specification.
  • What is BHCS and why does it matter? — BHCS stands for Button Head Cap Screw. The button head design features a rounded, low-profile top that provides a smaller overall height compared to standard hex cap screws. This is important for RC car applications where clearance around suspension components is limited. The secure hex socket drive ensures reliable fastening without stripping.
  • How often should I check my droop screws? — You should inspect your droop screws before each driving session, particularly if you're running competitively or in demanding conditions. Check that they're secure and haven't loosened, and visually inspect them for damage. If you notice any issues or if you're making major suspension adjustments, refer to your RC8 manual for proper torque specifications and installation procedures.
  • Can I use standard M4 screws instead of Team Associated ones? — Whilst an M4 fastener might physically fit, using non-OEM parts could result in incorrect suspension geometry or unreliable fastening. Team Associated droop screws are engineered specifically for the RC8 platform with precise tolerances. Using genuine parts ensures your suspension works exactly as designed and tested by the engineers who created your vehicle.
  • What's the difference between droop and ride height? — Ride height refers to how high your chassis sits above the ground, which you adjust by changing suspension linkage length. Droop refers to how far the suspension can compress downward from its neutral position, which is controlled by droop screws. Both settings are important for optimal handling, and both should be considered when setting up your RC8.
