Overview
The ARRMA ADS-5 V2 4.5kg Waterproof Servo in striking red is a precision-engineered steering component designed for RC enthusiasts across the UK who demand fast, accurate control in challenging conditions. Whether you're piloting a high-performance RC car, truck, or buggy through wet terrain, dusty tracks, or unpredictable weather, this servo combines robust waterproof construction with reliable performance to keep your RC vehicle responding exactly as intended. Built from hard-wearing materials and engineered with dual ball bearing support, the ADS-5 V2 delivers the kind of dependable steering action that separates casual bashers from serious RC competitors.
This servo is particularly popular among RC enthusiasts who run their vehicles in the UK's often-damp outdoor environment. The waterproof and dust-proof case protects internal components from moisture, dirt, and debris that would otherwise compromise servo lifespan. If you're investing in a quality RC car, truck, or crawler, pairing it with a servo that can handle the elements makes genuine sense. The ADS-5 V2 is an industry-standard size servo, making it a direct replacement or upgrade option for numerous RC models from entry-level bashers to more advanced off-road platforms.
With its dual ball bearing system, high-density composite gears, and Futaba-style 3-pin connector compatibility, this servo represents excellent value for RC model enthusiasts seeking a balance of durability, performance, and affordability. Whether you're building your first brushless RC car or upgrading steering components on an existing vehicle, the ADS-5 V2 offers the precision and resilience you need to maximise your RC experience.
Key Features
- Waterproof and Dust-Proof Case — The red protective case is fully sealed against water ingress and dust contamination, meaning this servo can handle wet grass, muddy terrain, stream crossings, and dusty tracks without component failure or performance degradation. This is essential for UK RC enthusiasts who often encounter unpredictable weather conditions.
- Dual Ball Bearing System — The servo uses dual ball bearings to support the output shaft, reducing friction and wear whilst ensuring smooth, precise steering response even after extended use. This bearing design also contributes to the servo's longevity and reliability under continuous operating conditions.
- High-Density Composite Gears — HD composite gearing provides excellent strength-to-weight characteristics and resists wear better than standard plastic alternatives. These gears deliver consistent torque delivery and maintain accurate steering precision across thousands of operating cycles.
- 25-Tooth Spline Output — The 25-tooth servo horn spline is an industry-standard fitment, ensuring compatibility with a vast range of RC vehicles and allowing easy integration into existing setups or replacement scenarios without requiring adapter plates or modifications.
- Futaba-Style 3-Pin Connector — The standard Futaba-compatible connector ensures broad compatibility with radio receivers and control systems used in RC cars, trucks, buggies, and crawlers across the UK RC hobby. This connector type is universally recognised and widely supported.
- Industry-Standard Size — At 40mm x 38mm x 20mm (excluding mounting tabs), this servo fits the standard servo bay found in most RC vehicles, making it an ideal replacement or upgrade component for countless models and platforms.
- Extended 300mm Wire Length — The generous wire length provides flexibility in servo mounting location within your RC vehicle chassis, allowing you to position the servo optimally without needing wire extensions or running excessively tight cable routing.
- Fast Response Speed — Delivering 0.14 seconds response time at 4.8V and 0.12 seconds at 6V, this servo provides the quick steering input that RC drivers demand when navigating tight corners, obstacle courses, or competitive racing lines.
- Responsive Torque Range — With 4.5kg-cm torque at 4.8V and 5kg-cm (70 ounces per inch) at 6V, the ADS-5 V2 provides sufficient steering authority to control medium to large RC vehicles whilst maintaining precise centre-point control and eliminating dead-band issues.
- Analogue Signal Processing — The servo uses analogue signal processing for smooth, proportional steering response without the latency sometimes associated with digital servos, making it ideal for drivers who value immediate feedback and natural control feel.
Technical Performance
The ARRMA ADS-5 V2 servo represents a carefully engineered balance between performance, durability, and practical usability for RC enthusiasts across the UK. The combination of dual ball bearings and high-density composite gearing creates a servo that handles continuous steering inputs without flex, binding, or premature wear. At 6V operation—the standard voltage for most modern RC vehicles powered by 2S LiPo batteries or equivalent—the servo delivers 5kg-cm of torque with a lightning-fast 0.12-second response time, enabling precise steering corrections and confident cornering at speed. The waterproof and dust-proof construction is particularly relevant for UK-based RC enthusiasts who frequently encounter damp grass, muddy tracks, and variable weather conditions; without proper sealing, internal components would rapidly corrode or malfunction. The servo's 300mm wire length, combined with its industry-standard 40mm x 38mm x 20mm form factor, ensures straightforward installation in the vast majority of RC cars, trucks, buggies, and crawlers currently available. The Futaba-style 3-pin connector provides universal compatibility with standard RC receiver channels, eliminating any need for adapters or modifications. Whether you're running a high-speed RC buggy across UK racetracks, bashing through woodland terrain, or carefully navigating rock crawling courses, the ADS-5 V2 delivers the responsive, reliable steering control that separates enjoyable RC sessions from frustrating equipment failures.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the ARRMA ADS-5 V2 suitable for waterproof RC cars and water-crossing adventures? — Yes, absolutely. The servo's waterproof and dust-proof case is specifically engineered to protect internal components from water ingress, making it ideal for RC vehicles that encounter wet grass, stream crossings, muddy terrain, and unpredictable UK weather conditions. Thousands of UK RC enthusiasts trust this servo for water-resistant builds.
- What voltage should I run this servo at for best performance? — The ADS-5 V2 operates at both 4.8V and 6V. At 6V (typically supplied by a 2S LiPo battery), you'll achieve maximum torque of 5kg-cm and fastest response time of 0.12 seconds. At 4.8V, torque is 4.5kg-cm and response time is 0.14 seconds. Most modern RC vehicles use 6V operation for optimal performance.
- Is this servo compatible with my existing RC car or receiver system? — The ADS-5 V2 uses a standard Futaba-style 3-pin connector, which is compatible with the vast majority of RC receivers and vehicle platforms currently in use across the UK hobby. If your receiver has available servo channel outputs, this servo will work with your system.
- How does the ADS-5 V2 compare to more expensive servo alternatives? — The ADS-5 V2 offers exceptional value by combining waterproof construction, dual ball bearing durability, and responsive HD composite gearing at a price point significantly lower than premium servo brands. For most RC enthusiasts—whether beginners or experienced competitors—the performance and reliability justify the modest investment.
- What is the difference between 4.8V and 6V operation? — At 6V, the servo delivers 5kg-cm torque and 0.12-second response speed, compared to 4.5kg-cm and 0.14 seconds at 4.8V. The 6V configuration provides faster steering response and greater torque authority, making it the recommended operating voltage for most RC applications.
- Is this servo good for high-speed RC cars and buggies? — Yes, the 0.12-second response time at 6V makes this servo excellent for speed-focused applications. Whilst it's equally capable in rock crawlers and precision courses, the rapid response characteristics favour drivers running competitive high-speed RC cars or buggies on UK tracks.
- How long will this servo last with regular use? — The dual ball bearing support and HD composite gearing are engineered for extended operational lifespan under normal RC use. The waterproof case protection is particularly valuable for UK-based enthusiasts, as it prevents moisture-related corrosion and component failure that significantly reduce servo lifespan.
