Overview

The Radio Active SS Socket Head Screw M2 x 12mm is an essential fastener for RC enthusiasts, modellers, and hobby engineers across the UK who demand reliable, corrosion-resistant hardware. Whether you're maintaining your RC car UK collection, repairing RC boats, or assembling small mechanical assemblies, these stainless steel socket head screws provide the dependable performance needed for precision work in compact spaces. Supplied as a bulk pack of 5 units, this part number T-SCR01/12M2 represents excellent value for workshop spares, general maintenance, and ongoing RC model support.

Socket head screws are the preferred choice for RC and modelling applications because the recessed Allen head design allows for positive engagement using hex drivers, eliminating the risk of stripping that can occur with conventional slotted or Phillips head fasteners. The M2 x 12mm size is a handy specification for small assemblies, linkages, mounts, and electronic installations where space is at a premium. Radio Active is a recognised brand for quality RC spares and upgrades, and these screws reflect that commitment to reliability and precision engineering.

The stainless steel construction offers excellent corrosion resistance, making these screws suitable not only for dry workshop conditions but also for RC boats and outdoor RC vehicles where exposure to moisture and weather is inevitable. For RC enthusiasts maintaining multiple vehicles or building complex custom assemblies, having a reliable stock of quality fasteners is essential to keep your fleet running smoothly.

Key Features

  • Stainless Steel Construction — The material choice protects against rust and corrosion, ensuring your fasteners remain in perfect condition whether stored in a humid workshop or used in RC boats and outdoor RC vehicles exposed to moisture and weather conditions.
  • Socket Head Design — The recessed Allen head design suits standard hex drivers and Allen keys, providing positive engagement and preventing bit slip or head damage that can occur with conventional fastener designs, particularly important in tight working spaces.
  • M2 x 12mm Specification — This size is perfectly proportioned for small RC assemblies, making it ideal for linkages, servo mounts, electronics mounting, and general small-scale mechanical work where larger fasteners would be impractical or unavailable.
  • Bulk Pack of 5 — Five screws per pack ensure you have spares available for maintenance, repairs, or multiple assembly projects, reducing the need for frequent reordering and keeping your RC workshop well-stocked with essential hardware.
  • Universal Compatibility — These screws work with RC cars and trucks using M2 hardware, RC boats and aircraft with M2 fixings, and general modelling electronics where compact fasteners are required, making them a versatile addition to any RC toolkit.

Technical Performance

The Radio Active SS Socket Head Screw M2 x 12mm demonstrates quality engineering in both design and material selection. The M2 metric thread specification ensures compatibility with the vast majority of small-scale RC hardware, from custom chassis builds to electronics mounting brackets and servo installation. Stainless steel offers superior corrosion resistance compared to standard zinc-plated fasteners, making these screws particularly valuable for RC boats, outdoor RC vehicles, and workshop applications where moisture exposure is common. The socket head design provides a significant advantage over traditional fasteners by allowing the use of hexagonal drivers and Allen keys, which create a much larger contact area than slot or Phillips head designs. This engineering choice dramatically reduces the risk of stripping or damaging the fastener head during installation or removal, a critical factor in precision RC work where reassembly and maintenance are frequent activities. The 12mm length provides sufficient grip and engagement for secure fastening in most small-scale assemblies while remaining compact enough to fit in confined spaces typical of modern RC vehicles and electronics installations. The polished finish of stainless steel also provides a professional appearance in visible applications, contributing to the overall quality aesthetic of custom RC builds.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are M2 x 12mm socket head screws used for in RC models? — M2 x 12mm socket head screws are ideal for small RC assemblies where space is limited and precision fastening is essential. Common applications include securing servo arms, mounting electronics components, assembling linkages, attaching small brackets, and general maintenance repairs on RC cars, trucks, boats, and aircraft that use M2 hardware specifications.
  • Why is stainless steel better than zinc-plated fasteners for RC use? — Stainless steel offers superior corrosion resistance compared to standard zinc-plated fasteners, making it the preferred choice for RC boats, outdoor RC vehicles, and workshop environments where moisture and humidity exposure is unavoidable. Stainless steel fasteners maintain their integrity and appearance over extended periods and repeated exposure to environmental conditions, providing long-term reliability without rust or degradation.
  • What is the advantage of socket head design compared to other fastener types? — Socket head design features a recessed hexagonal recess that accommodates Allen keys and hex drivers, creating significantly more contact area than slot or Phillips head designs. This engineering advantage prevents bit slip, eliminates the risk of head damage during installation, and allows for more controlled torque application, all critical factors for precision work in tight RC assembly spaces.
  • Are these screws suitable for RC boats and outdoor RC vehicles? — Yes, the stainless steel construction makes these screws particularly suitable for RC boats and outdoor RC vehicles where exposure to moisture, salt water, and weather conditions would quickly cause standard fasteners to rust. The corrosion-resistant properties ensure reliable fastening performance over extended periods of outdoor use and storage.
  • How many screws come in this pack and is it enough for my project? — This pack contains 5 M2 x 12mm socket head screws, making it ideal for small repairs, individual assembly projects, or topping up your RC workshop spares. For larger projects requiring multiple fasteners, you may wish to order additional packs or consider our bulk options for greater cost savings.
  • What tools do I need to install these M2 socket head screws? — Installation requires a hexagonal Allen key or hex driver that fits the M2 socket recess. Standard metric Allen key sets include M2 size, making these screws compatible with tools most RC enthusiasts already possess in their workshop toolkit.
