Overview

The Spektrum A6190 Standard Metal Gear HV Aircraft Servo represents excellent value for RC pilots looking for a reliable, high-performance standard size servo for their sport and trainer model aircraft. Whether you're flying recreational RC planes or building a new model aircraft setup in the UK, this digital servo delivers the precision, speed and torque needed to handle demanding flight control tasks. As an authorised Spektrum retailer, RC Model Shop stocks this trusted servo for hobbyists across Britain who demand consistent performance without breaking the bank.

Built with a robust all-metal gear train and powered by a 5-pole ferrite motor, the A6190 combines durability with smooth operation. The dual bearing-supported drive train ensures precise positioning and low wear, even during extended flying sessions. This servo is perfectly suited for sport and trainer type model aircraft requiring standard size servos, making it an ideal choice for everything from beginner-friendly trainers to more advanced aerobatic performers.

High voltage capable with an input range of 4.8V to 8.4V, this servo scales its performance to match your power source. At maximum voltage, it delivers an impressive 8.3kg-cm of torque (115 in-oz) with response times of just 0.17 seconds per 60 degrees of travel. The low deadband and precise position control make this servo reliable for critical flight surfaces including ailerons, elevators and rudders across a wide variety of aircraft types.

Key Features

  • High Voltage Capable (4.8-8.4V Input Range) — The A6190 accepts power from standard 4.8V to high voltage 8.4V systems, allowing you to optimise performance based on your preferred power setup and deliver maximum torque when needed for more demanding flight conditions.
  • All Metal Gear Train — The low-wear, tightly meshed metal gear drive train provides superior durability compared to plastic gear servos, reducing backlash and wear over thousands of flight cycles to ensure long-term reliability and consistent performance.
  • Dual Bearing Supported Drive Train — Precision dual ball bearings support the servo's main drive train, maximising smooth operation, reducing friction and ensuring reliable, accurate servo positioning throughout the full range of motion.
  • Digital Servo Technology — Modern digital circuitry provides low deadband (less than 1 microsecond) and precise position control, giving you needle-sharp response and exact servo positioning essential for stable flight characteristics.
  • 5-Pole Ferrite Motor — The efficient 5-pole ferrite motor design delivers strong, consistent torque output across the entire voltage range whilst maintaining reliability and reducing heat generation during extended operations.
  • Universal Servo Connector — The standard universal connector ensures compatibility with the vast majority of RC radio receivers and control systems used in model aircraft across the UK hobby market.
  • Operating Frequency of 200Hz to 333Hz — The servo's programmable update frequency provides smooth, responsive control across a range of update rates, adapting to your specific aircraft control requirements and receiver capabilities.
  • Standard Size Format — Compact dimensions (1.47 inches long, 1.58 inches high, 0.78 inches wide) and lightweight construction (54 grams) make this servo ideal for installation in tight fuselage spaces without adding excessive weight to your model aircraft.

Technical Performance

The A6190 combines impressive performance metrics with genuine build quality that makes it stand out in the standard servo category. At 6.0V, this servo delivers 90 oz-in (6.48kg-cm) of torque with response times of 0.22 seconds per 60 degrees. Step up to 7.4V and you get 98 oz-in (7kg-cm) with 0.17 second response. Maximum performance arrives at 8.4V where the servo produces a commanding 115 oz-in (8.3kg-cm) of torque with speed of just 0.13 seconds per 60 degrees of travel. This voltage flexibility means you can match the servo's performance to your specific power setup, whether you're running a traditional receiver battery system or stepping up to high-voltage power for enhanced control authority on larger aircraft. The all-metal gear construction with dual bearing support delivers the smooth operation and precise positioning required for critical flight control surfaces. The plastic body keeps weight minimal (only 1.9 ounces) without compromising structural integrity, making it perfect for weight-conscious aircraft designs. Low deadband circuitry ensures you get exactly the servo position you command, with no wasted motion or lag. The 23-tooth spline standard ensures compatibility with the vast range of servo arms and accessories available for RC aircraft throughout the UK hobby market.

The A6190 is an excellent choice for pilots of all experience levels, particularly those flying sport and trainer type model aircraft. Its reliability, straightforward installation, universal connector compatibility and responsive performance make it ideal for learning to fly. The servo is also affordable, making it a smart investment when building your first RC aircraft or upgrading existing models without significant expense.
  • What voltage battery system do I need to power this servo? — The A6190 accepts power from 4.8V to 8.4V, covering virtually all receiver battery options used in RC aircraft. You can use standard 4-cell (4.8V) or 5-cell (6.0V) NiMH packs, or step up to 2S LiPo (7.4V) or 3S LiPo (8.4V maximum) systems for enhanced performance. Check your receiver specifications and ensure your chosen power system matches your radio system and other onboard servos.
  • What is the torque and speed of the A6190? — Performance scales with voltage. At 6.0V you get 6.48kg-cm torque with 0.22 second response. At 7.4V the servo produces 7kg-cm torque with 0.17 second response. At maximum 8.4V you achieve 8.3kg-cm torque with 0.13 second response. These specifications make it suitable for standard aircraft requiring reliable control authority without demanding high-end performance servo levels.
  • Is this servo waterproof or weather-resistant? — The A6190 is not waterproof or water-resistant, so it should be protected from rain, water spray and moisture. Install it inside your aircraft fuselage with proper cable routing and avoid exposure to wet conditions during storage or transport.
  • What aircraft types work best with the A6190? — This servo is perfectly suited for sport and trainer type model aircraft. It works excellently on high-wing trainers, sport aerobatic models, general recreational aircraft and similar designs that require standard size servos.
