Overview

The Spektrum 13g Sub Micro Metal Gear Servo with 140mm servo lead is a precision-engineered control component designed for RC hobbyists who demand reliability and performance in a compact package. This lightweight servo represents the pinnacle of micro servo technology, making it an essential choice for small-scale RC aircraft, drones, and other precision RC applications where weight and responsiveness are critical factors. Whether you're building a ready to run RC plane, a competition-grade RC model, or upgrading an existing setup, this servo delivers the torque and speed needed for smooth, accurate control.

Engineered by Spektrum, a name synonymous with quality RC electronics and radio systems, this sub-micro servo is built to exacting standards. The metal gear construction ensures durability and longevity, even under demanding flight conditions and frequent use. At just 13 grams, this servo is lightweight enough for small RC aircraft and ultralight models without compromising on power delivery or precision. The generous 140mm servo lead provides flexible installation options, allowing you to position the servo where it's needed most without the constraint of shorter cable lengths.

For UK RC enthusiasts and hobbyists, this servo represents genuine Spektrum quality backed by the manufacturer's reputation for excellence. If you're looking for a reliable, lightweight servo solution for your RC car UK or RC aircraft project, the 13g Sub Micro Metal Gear Servo combines advanced engineering with practical performance that serious RC model builders have come to expect.

Key Features

  • 13 Gram Weight — At just 13 grams, this servo is classified as a sub-micro servo, making it one of the lightest servo options available for small-scale RC models. This minimal weight is crucial for RC aircraft and ultralight models where every gram counts towards flight performance, endurance and manoeuvrability.
  • Metal Gear Construction — The servo utilises metal gears rather than plastic alternatives, providing superior durability, reduced wear, and longer operational lifespan. Metal gears can handle higher torque loads and resist stripping under stress, making this servo suitable for repeated use and high-performance applications where plastic gears would fail.
  • 140mm Servo Lead — The extended 140mm servo lead offers significant installation flexibility compared to shorter servo cables. This longer connection allows you to mount the servo away from the receiver or control electronics, simplifying wiring layouts and reducing potential interference in cramped RC model enclosures.
  • Micro Servo Size Category — Classified within the micro servo category, this component is specifically designed for small RC models where space is at a premium. The compact dimensions make it ideal for RC aircraft, small-scale RC cars, drones, and other miniature RC applications that require precise control without bulk.
  • Spektrum Quality and Reliability — Manufactured by Spektrum, a recognised leader in RC electronics and radio systems, this servo benefits from rigorous quality control and proven engineering. Spektrum products are renowned throughout the RC community for consistent performance and long-term reliability.

Technical Performance

The Spektrum 13g Sub Micro Metal Gear Servo represents a careful balance between lightweight design and mechanical robustness. With metal gear construction throughout, this servo is engineered to deliver consistent torque and speed performance across thousands of cycles. The sub-micro classification places it in a category designed specifically for small RC models where weight reduction directly translates to improved performance — whether measured in flight time for RC aircraft, acceleration for RC cars, or responsiveness in precision RC applications. The metal gear system provides smooth operation with minimal backlash, critical for accurate control inputs. The 140mm servo lead has been designed to accommodate various mounting configurations and control layouts, eliminating the need for servo lead extensions that could introduce compliance or connection issues. At 0.046 pounds (approximately 20.8 grams total with packaging and mounting hardware), the servo maintains a low profile whilst maintaining the structural integrity needed for reliable operation. This servo is compatible with standard RC radio systems and receivers that support conventional servo control signals, making it a drop-in replacement for many existing micro servo applications or an excellent choice for new build projects.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is this servo suitable for small RC aircraft and drones? — Yes, absolutely. At just 13 grams with metal gear construction, this sub-micro servo is specifically engineered for lightweight RC aircraft, small drones, and ultralight RC models. The extended 140mm servo lead provides flexible installation options within tight aircraft fuselages and drone frames.
  • What does the metal gear construction mean for durability? — Metal gears are significantly more durable than plastic alternatives, resisting wear, stripping and deformation even under repeated high-torque demands. This means your servo will maintain smooth operation over many hundreds of hours of use without the performance degradation that plastic gears experience.
  • Can I use this servo as a replacement in my existing RC model? — This servo is compatible with any RC system that uses standard servo control signals. The 140mm servo lead may be longer than your current servo, but this is advantageous as it provides more installation flexibility. Check your RC model's receiver and control system compatibility before installation.
  • What is the servo lead length and why does it matter? — The servo comes with a 140mm (5.5-inch) servo lead, significantly longer than standard short-lead servos. The longer lead eliminates the need for extension cables in many applications, reducing potential connection issues and simplifying installation in compact RC models.
  • Is this servo waterproof or weather-resistant? — The source material does not specify waterproof or weather-resistant ratings for this servo. For outdoor RC applications in wet conditions, enquire about additional protective measures or sealed servo alternatives.
