Overview

The Spektrum 2.3 Gram Linear Long Throw Offset Servo (P-SPMSA2030LO) is a specialist servo designed specifically for ultra-micro RC aircraft enthusiasts who want to add aileron differential to their models without requiring a computer-programmable transmitter. This ingeniously engineered servo comes pre-programmed with a 70/30 offset from centre, eliminating the need for complex radio system configuration. Whether you're flying a small foamie, a park flyer, or an ultra-micro scale aircraft, this servo delivers the precision control needed for smooth, coordinated flight with built-in differential that would otherwise require advanced transmitter programming.

Weighing just 2.3 grams, this lightweight servo is perfect for weight-critical applications where every gram counts towards flight performance and battery runtime. The long throw capability combined with the offset programming makes it an ideal choice for modellers looking to improve aileron response without investing in advanced radio systems. If you're flying micro RC aircraft in the UK or anywhere else, this servo represents excellent value for a purpose-built solution that simplifies your setup process and delivers professional-level control characteristics right out of the box.

This servo is fully compatible with any Spektrum AR6400-series receiver, making it a straightforward upgrade path for existing Spektrum-equipped models. The linear servo design ensures predictable, responsive control throughout the entire throw range, which is essential for maintaining stability and precision during flight manoeuvres. For UK RC flyers seeking a dedicated aileron servo that doesn't require transmitter configuration skills, the Spektrum 2.3 Gram Linear Long Throw Offset Servo is the definitive solution.

Key Features

  • Pre-programmed 70/30 Offset from Centre — The servo arrives ready to use with factory programming that automatically provides aileron differential, eliminating the need for computer transmitter programming or complex radio system setup. This built-in differential improves flight characteristics by reducing adverse yaw during banking manoeuvres, which is particularly important for stable flight in ultra-micro aircraft.
  • Lightweight 2.3 Gram Design — The exceptionally low weight makes this servo ideal for weight-critical applications where minimising mass directly improves battery life, climb performance, and overall flight dynamics. Every gram saved in servo weight translates to longer flight times and better handling characteristics in small aircraft.
  • Linear Long Throw Control — The linear response curve and extended throw range provide greater control authority for aileron movements compared to standard micro servos. This expanded range gives you more precise control over subtle flight adjustments and more aggressive manoeuvres when needed.
  • Single Ball Bearing Construction — The robust ball bearing support ensures smooth, precise operation throughout the servo's lifespan, reducing friction and ensuring consistent, reliable performance in all flying conditions across the UK and beyond.
  • Spektrum AR6400-Series Compatible — Full compatibility with Spektrum's popular AR6400-series receiver systems means easy integration into existing setups or new builds using proven Spektrum radio technology.
  • Purpose-Built for Aileron Differential — Specifically engineered for modellers without computer transmitters who want to add aileron differential functionality, this servo solves a real problem in the ultra-micro RC aircraft community by providing differential control without requiring advanced transmitter capabilities.

Technical Performance

The Spektrum 2.3 Gram Linear Long Throw Offset Servo delivers impressive performance metrics for its size and weight category. Operating at 4.8 volts, the servo achieves a speed of 0.10 seconds per 60 degrees, providing responsive control inputs that follow your stick movements with minimal delay. The torque output of 0.10 kilogram-centimetres at 4.8V is perfectly calibrated for aileron control on ultra-micro aircraft, offering sufficient force to move control surfaces against aerodynamic loads without unnecessary power drain. The physical dimensions measure 22.0 millimetres in length, 16.9 millimetres in width, and 8.2 millimetres in height, making it an exceptionally compact package that fits easily into the tight fuselage spaces typical of micro RC aircraft. The single ball bearing construction ensures that despite the servo's compact size, it maintains excellent mechanical precision and longevity. This servo operates on standard 4.8V power derived from two-cell lithium-polymer batteries (2S LiPo) commonly used in ultra-micro models, or from equivalent nickel-metal hydride battery systems. The linear design ensures that servo movement remains proportional across the entire control range, which is critical for maintaining stable, predictable flight characteristics throughout all phases of flight operations. The pre-programmed offset means that servo travel is asymmetrical by design, with greater range in one direction than the other, creating the built-in differential that experienced RC pilots appreciate for enhanced flight stability and reduced adverse yaw during co-ordinated turns.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is aileron differential and why do I need it on my ultra-micro RC aircraft? — Aileron differential is a flight control technique where the down-going aileron moves a greater distance than the up-going aileron during banking manoeuvres. This reduces adverse yaw, which is the unwanted yaw movement that occurs during aileron input. By using this servo with its 70/30 offset programming, you automatically get aileron differential without needing to programme your transmitter, which is particularly valuable if your radio system doesn't have this capability.
  • Is this servo suitable for beginners flying micro RC aircraft? — Yes, this servo is excellent for beginners because it comes pre-configured with aileron differential already programmed in. You don't need to understand transmitter programming or flight control theory; you simply install the servo and it works. However, you will need a Spektrum AR6400-series receiver to ensure compatibility.
  • What voltage does this servo operate at? — This servo operates at 4.8 volts, which is the standard voltage provided by two-cell lithium-polymer (2S LiPo) batteries or equivalent nickel-metal hydride cells commonly used in ultra-micro RC aircraft. Ensure your aircraft power system provides 4.8V to match this specification.
  • How does this servo differ from standard micro servos? — This servo is purpose-built for aileron differential with pre-programmed offset control, whereas standard micro servos provide neutral, symmetrical travel in both directions. The offset programming in this servo means you get automatic differential tuning without transmitter configuration, which is unique among micro servos.
  • Will this servo work with my Spektrum radio system? — This servo is fully compatible with all Spektrum AR6400-series receivers. If you're using a different Spektrum receiver model or a non-Spektrum radio system, compatibility cannot be guaranteed; check your receiver documentation before purchasing.
  • What aircraft types work best with this servo? — The 2.3-gram weight and compact dimensions make this servo ideal for ultra-micro foam aircraft, small park flyers, and lightweight scale models where weight savings are critical for flight performance and battery endurance.
