Overview
The LOGIC Futaba Heavy Duty Wire (HD) 5mtrs (P-LGL-FTWIRE5M) is an essential component for any RC enthusiast working with Futaba-type radio systems. Whether you're building custom servo extensions, repairing damaged leads, or creating neat wiring looms for your RC car, truck, boat, or aircraft, this 5-metre spool of heavy-duty servo wire provides the flexibility and quality you need. Available from RC Model Shop, this Fusion brand wire is designed to meet the demanding requirements of radio controlled models across all scales and applications, from competitive racing setups to casual weekend bashing.
This heavy-duty wire is ideal for modellers who want to take control of their wiring installations rather than relying on pre-made leads of fixed lengths. The 5-metre length offers exceptional value and versatility, allowing you to create multiple extensions or run wire across larger models without joins. Whether you're setting up a 1/10 RC buggy, a 1/8 nitro-powered truck, a brushless electric car, or any other Futaba-compatible system, this wire gives you the freedom to route connections exactly where you need them. The heavy-duty construction ensures durability and reliable signal transmission, critical for maintaining precise servo control in competitive and recreational RC applications.
For RC enthusiasts across the UK and beyond, the LOGIC Futaba Heavy Duty Wire represents excellent value for custom wiring projects. It's a staple component in any serious modeller's workshop, whether you're a seasoned competitor, a weekend basher, or someone just discovering the world of radio-controlled vehicles. RC Model Shop stocks this essential wiring product to support your building, repair, and customisation needs.
Key Features
- Futaba-type compatibility — This wire is designed specifically for use with Futaba-type servos, receivers, and radio systems, ensuring proper fit and reliable signal transmission across your RC model regardless of whether you're running an RC car, aircraft, boat, or helicopter with Futaba equipment.
- Heavy-duty construction — The HD (Heavy Duty) specification means this wire is built to withstand the demands of frequent use, vibration, and the demanding environments of RC racing and bashing, providing superior durability compared to standard gauge wire.
- 5-metre length — The generous 5m spool provides tremendous flexibility for custom installations, allowing you to create multiple extensions, repair damaged leads, or route longer runs through larger models without requiring joins or additional components.
- Custom wiring capability — Rather than being limited to pre-made extensions of fixed lengths, this wire allows you to cut and prepare exactly the length you need for your specific installation, whether you're extending a servo lead by 200mm or running a 1-metre extension through your model.
- Flexible routing options — The wire diameter and flexibility allow neat routing through confined spaces, along chassis rails, and through bulkheads, helping you create professional-looking wiring looms that don't compromise your model's aesthetics or performance.
- Building and repair applications — Whether you're building servo extensions from scratch, repairing accidentally damaged leads, or completely rewiring a receiver installation, this heavy-duty wire provides the foundation for reliable signal transmission and servo control.
- Suitable for all RC models — This wire works with Futaba-type systems across RC cars, trucks, boats, and aircraft, making it a versatile addition to any modeller's spares and accessories collection regardless of your primary focus.
Technical Performance
The LOGIC Futaba Heavy Duty Wire (HD) represents a quality wiring solution engineered for reliability in radio-controlled models. The heavy-duty specification ensures that the wire gauge and insulation are designed to handle the signal requirements of Futaba servo and receiver systems while providing mechanical durability in environments subject to vibration, heat, and mechanical stress. Heavy-duty wire construction typically features robust insulation that resists abrasion and UV degradation, important considerations for models that spend significant time outdoors or in high-vibration environments like basher trucks or competition racing vehicles. The 5-metre length provides sufficient material for multiple extension leads or longer continuous runs, and the wire can be easily stripped, prepared, and soldered to Futaba connectors using standard RC modelling tools and techniques. The wire's construction supports reliable servo control by maintaining signal integrity over extended lead lengths, critical for models where servos might be mounted at distance from the receiver, such as nose-mounted servos in large aircraft or remote steering servos in long-wheelbase crawlers. This spool represents better value than purchasing multiple pre-made extension leads individually, particularly useful for modellers who frequently experiment with different servo placements or repair damaged wiring on multiple vehicles.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is this Futaba heavy-duty wire suitable for extending servo leads on my RC car or aircraft? — Yes, this wire is specifically designed for creating servo extensions and custom wiring installations on any RC model using Futaba-type systems, whether you're working on RC cars, trucks, boats, or aircraft. The 5-metre length gives you enough material to create multiple extensions or run continuous wire through larger models.
- Can I use this wire to repair damaged servo leads? — Absolutely. If a servo lead has been damaged through wear, pinching, or accident, this heavy-duty wire allows you to rebuild the connection. Simply cut an appropriate length, strip and tin the ends, and solder to your existing or replacement connectors using standard RC soldering techniques.
- What is the difference between heavy-duty (HD) wire and standard wire? — Heavy-duty wire features a larger gauge and more robust insulation compared to standard servo wire, providing superior durability and better mechanical protection in high-vibration environments. This makes it particularly suitable for bashing vehicles, racing applications, and models that see frequent use and rough treatment.
- Do I need any special tools to use this wire? — Standard RC modelling tools are sufficient. You'll need wire strippers to remove insulation, a soldering iron to solder the wire to Futaba connectors, solder, and heat shrink tubing to insulate joints. Many modellers keep these items as standard workshop equipment.
- How many extensions can I make from a 5-metre spool? — This depends on the extension lengths you require, but a 5-metre spool typically provides enough material for 5-10 extensions depending on length. A 500mm extension uses half a metre, so you could make ten 500mm extensions from the full spool, or fewer longer extensions, or a combination of different lengths.
- Is this wire suitable for all RC applications? — This wire works with Futaba-type systems across all RC applications including RC cars, RC trucks, RC boats, and RC aircraft. If your model uses Futaba servos, receivers, or transmitters, this heavy-duty wire will be compatible with your system.
- What compatibility does this wire have with different radio systems? — This is specifically designed for Futaba-type connectors and systems. If your model uses JR or Spektrum systems, you would need JR-type or Spektrum-type wire instead. LOGIC RC also produces JR and Spektrum versions for compatibility with those systems.
