Overview
The CASTLE Direct Connect Sensor Wire 200mm (P-CC011-0145-00) is an essential upgrade for RC enthusiasts in the UK who run sensored brushless motors with Castle Creations ESCs. This precision-engineered sensor wire eliminates unnecessary connection points in your RC car setup, delivering a cleaner, more reliable electrical path between your ROAR sensored motor and your waterproof Castle ESC. Whether you're building a competitive race car, a weekend basher, or upgrading an existing RC model, this direct-connect solution significantly simplifies your wiring harness and reduces potential points of failure.
For RC car builders and modifiers across the UK, sensor wiring can often become a source of frustration. The traditional approach requires a separate sensor harness adapter, which introduces an extra connection point and takes up valuable space in compact chassis layouts. The Direct Connect Sensor Wire solves this problem elegantly by providing a single, purpose-built cable that connects directly from your motor's ROAR sensor plug straight into your Castle ESC. This approach is particularly valuable if you're working with limited space, whether you're building a 1/10 scale touring car, a compact crawler, or any tight-fitting RC vehicle configuration.
Available in a 200mm (7.9 inch) length, this sensor wire is specifically designed for compact installations where short, neat cable routing is preferred and essential. The 200mm size strikes an ideal balance for most modern RC chassis designs, from small-scale buggies to tightly packaged monster truck conversions. If you need longer runs, CASTLE also offers the wire in 250mm and 300mm lengths to suit different installation requirements.
Key Features
- Direct-Connect Design — By eliminating the Castle sensor harness adapter entirely, this cable removes an unnecessary connection point from your wiring system, which means fewer places for electrical resistance to develop, better signal integrity from your sensored motor to your ESC, and a cleaner overall installation that looks more professional and performs more reliably.
- ROAR Standard Sensor Plug — One end features the industry-standard ROAR sensor plug that connects seamlessly to the back of any sensored brushless motor, ensuring broad compatibility with most quality sensored motors on the market and making it easy to integrate into existing RC builds without proprietary adapters.
- Direct ESC Connection — The opposite end plugs directly into any waterproof, sensored-capable Castle ESC without requiring an intermediate adapter harness, streamlining your electronics bay and reducing clutter in an already crowded motor compartment.
- Compact 200mm Length — At 7.9 inches, the 200mm length is perfectly suited to tight spaces and compact RC chassis layouts where longer cables would create excess wiring loops and take up precious real estate inside your RC car's frame.
- Quality Construction — Castle Creations products are recognised throughout the RC hobby for build quality and reliability, and this sensor wire is no exception, featuring robust connectors and properly shielded wiring designed to withstand the vibration and thermal cycling that RC vehicles experience during operation.
- Waterproof ESC Compatibility — This sensor wire works with Castle's full range of waterproof, sensored-capable ESCs, making it suitable for wet-weather running, water crossings, and all-weather RC car operation without concern about moisture affecting sensor signal transmission.
Technical Performance
The CASTLE Direct Connect Sensor Wire 200mm represents a sophisticated approach to motor-to-ESC connectivity that prioritises signal integrity and installation simplicity. The 200mm length provides sufficient cable for most compact RC car installations whilst maintaining minimal slack that could create wiring tangles or vibration-induced noise. The cable itself is constructed with proper shielding to protect the delicate sensor signal from electromagnetic interference that can occur in high-performance RC vehicles running brushless motors and high-frequency ESCs. The ROAR sensor plug at one end is the industry standard for sensored motor construction, ensuring compatibility with virtually all quality brushless sensored motors available to UK RC hobbyists. The Castle ESC connector at the other end is specifically designed to interface with Castle's waterproof electronics range, which includes the Mamba Micro X, Mamba X, Mamba Monster X, and Mamba Monster X 8S ESCs. The waterproof design of both connectors and the shielded cable construction means this sensor wire can be safely used in RC vehicles that encounter water, whether during water fording, rain running, or general outdoor use in unpredictable British weather conditions. The elimination of the intermediate sensor harness adapter reduces overall system resistance and provides a more direct signal path, which can result in marginally improved throttle response and more accurate commutation in your sensored brushless motor compared to multi-connector solutions.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a sensored motor and why do I need this sensor wire? — A sensored brushless motor contains internal sensors that tell the ESC exactly where the motor rotor is positioned at any given moment, allowing for perfect commutation timing and smooth operation at all speeds, including from a complete standstill. The sensor wire transmits this information from the motor to the ESC. This Direct Connect Sensor Wire eliminates the need for a separate adapter harness, simplifying your wiring and reducing connection points.
- Will this sensor wire work with my Castle ESC? — Yes, the Direct Connect Sensor Wire is compatible with all waterproof, sensored-capable Castle ESCs including the Mamba Micro X, Mamba X, Mamba Monster X, and Mamba Monster X 8s. It will not work with Castle ESCs that do not have sensor ports.
- Is the 200mm length suitable for my RC car setup? — The 200mm (7.9 inch) length is ideal for compact RC vehicles and tight chassis layouts where you want minimal cable slack. If you need more cable length for larger vehicles or installations with greater separation between motor and ESC, Castle offers this same sensor wire in 250mm and 300mm lengths.
- Can I use this sensor wire in wet conditions and water-fording situations? — Yes. The Direct Connect Sensor Wire features waterproof connectors and shielded cable construction, making it safe for use in wet weather, water crossings, and all-weather RC car operation without concern for moisture damage to the sensor signal.
- What is the difference between this Direct Connect Sensor Wire and using a separate sensor harness adapter? — The traditional approach uses a separate Castle sensor harness adapter that connects between the motor's ROAR plug and the ESC's sensor port. This Direct Connect Sensor Wire eliminates that intermediate adapter entirely, removing one connection point, reducing wiring clutter, and providing a more direct signal path between motor and ESC. The result is a cleaner installation and potentially improved signal integrity.
- Is this sensor wire suitable for beginners? — If you already have a sensored brushless motor and a compatible Castle ESC, this sensor wire is straightforward to install. Simply plug one end into your motor and the other into your ESC. However, you should be comfortable with basic electronics installation. If you're entirely new to RC, you might consider starting with a ready-to-run RC car UK package that comes pre-assembled with all wiring completed.
- What motor size does this work with? — The Direct Connect Sensor Wire works with any sensored brushless motor that features a ROAR standard sensor plug, regardless of motor size or KV rating. It is the physical connector type, not motor specifications, that determines compatibility.
