Overview

The Spektrum IC3 Battery Connector with 4 inch wires and 13 AWG gauge is an essential accessory for RC enthusiasts in the UK who demand reliable battery connections. This professional-grade connector represents the industry standard for battery connectivity in modern RC cars, trucks, and various RC vehicles. Whether you're running a brushless RC car, an electric RC buggy, or any other battery-powered RC model, having quality connectors like the IC3 ensures safe, efficient power delivery from your battery pack to your vehicle's electronics.

Designed by Spektrum, one of the most trusted names in RC technology, this connector assembly comes ready to install and features pre-terminated wires for straightforward integration. The 4 inch length provides convenient access and flexibility for most RC setups, whilst the 13 AWG wire gauge is engineered to handle the current demands of modern electric RC vehicles without voltage drop or safety concerns. This is the connector of choice for serious RC hobbyists who understand that battery connectivity is just as important as the quality of the battery itself.

RC Model Shop customers appreciate products that work reliably first time, and the Spektrum IC3 connector delivers exactly that. Whether you're a competitive racer, a weekend basher, or an experienced hobbyist looking to upgrade your existing RC fleet with quality connectors, this product offers genuine Spektrum quality at an excellent value. It has received a 4.4 out of 5 customer rating, reflecting its popularity and proven reliability across the RC community.

Key Features

  • IC3 Connector Type — The IC3 is a universally recognised connector standard that ensures compatibility with a wide range of RC vehicles, chargers, and power distribution systems, giving you maximum flexibility in your RC setup without needing multiple connector types.
  • Pre-Terminated 4 Inch Wires — The connector assembly comes complete with 4 inch wires already soldered and terminated to professional standards, eliminating the need for difficult soldering work and ensuring a clean, reliable installation on your first attempt.
  • 13 AWG Wire Gauge — The 13 AWG wire specification is sized to handle significant current flow whilst maintaining minimal resistance, which means less voltage drop between your battery and your RC vehicle's electronic speed controller and receiver, resulting in better performance and efficiency.
  • Genuine Spektrum Quality — Manufactured by Spektrum, a recognised leader in RC technology and wireless systems, this connector benefits from rigorous quality control and engineering expertise that guarantees consistent performance and long service life.
  • Ready-to-Use Design — Unlike loose connectors that require soldering skills and experience, this pre-assembled connector allows even less experienced RC users to upgrade their battery connections with confidence.

Technical Performance

The Spektrum IC3 Battery Connector represents professional-grade engineering specifically optimised for modern electric RC vehicles. The 13 AWG wire gauge is a critical specification that directly impacts your RC car's performance — thicker wires mean lower resistance, which translates to less voltage drop under load, allowing your brushless motors, ESCs, and servos to receive full battery voltage. This is particularly important in high-performance RC applications where even small voltage losses can reduce top speed and acceleration. The IC3 connector itself is engineered to provide secure, low-resistance contact between the battery and the vehicle's power distribution system. The pre-terminated design means the connector has been assembled by professional equipment at the factory, ensuring solder joints are consistently strong and connections are perfectly mated. The 4 inch wire length offers practical flexibility — long enough to route through most RC chassis designs, but short enough to avoid excess cable bulk that could affect weight distribution or create interference with moving parts. Whether you're powering a 2WD or 4WD RC buggy, a monster truck, a short course truck, or any other electric RC vehicle, this connector will reliably handle the job.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Spektrum IC3 connector compatible with my RC car? — The IC3 is one of the most widely used battery connectors in RC vehicles today. If your RC car's battery or charger uses an IC3 connector, or if you're replacing existing connectors, this Spektrum connector will provide perfect compatibility. It's commonly found on electric RC buggies, RC trucks, and various other battery-powered RC models.
  • What does 13 AWG wire gauge mean and why does it matter? — AWG stands for American Wire Gauge, and 13 AWG represents the thickness of the copper wire. Thicker wire (lower AWG numbers) carries more current with less resistance. The 13 AWG specification in this connector ensures minimal voltage drop when delivering power from your battery to your RC vehicle's electronic speed controller, which translates to better acceleration, higher top speed, and more efficient energy usage from your battery pack.
  • Can I use this connector with different battery brands? — Yes, the IC3 connector is a universal standard, not brand-specific. As long as your battery, charger, and RC vehicle are equipped with IC3 connectors, you can use this Spektrum connector to connect them. It works with batteries from any manufacturer that uses the IC3 standard.
  • Do I need soldering skills to install this connector? — No, this connector comes pre-terminated with 4 inch wires already soldered and ready to use. You simply connect it to your battery and RC vehicle. However, depending on your existing setup, you may need to solder these connector wires to your vehicle's power distribution board or ESC, which does require basic soldering skills and equipment.
  • Is this suitable for high-current RC vehicles like brushless RC cars? — Yes, absolutely. The 13 AWG wire specification is specifically engineered to handle the high current demands of modern brushless RC vehicles. Whether you're running a brushless RC buggy, a brushless RC monster truck, or any other high-performance electric RC car, this connector will reliably deliver power without voltage drop issues.
  • How does this connector compare to other IC3 connectors? — This is a genuine Spektrum product, which means it benefits from Spektrum's engineering expertise and quality control standards. The pre-terminated design with professional factory soldering ensures consistent quality and reliability that equals or exceeds aftermarket alternatives. The 4 inch length and 13 AWG specification are standard for IC3 assemblies, making this a reliable choice for any IC3-equipped RC vehicle.
