Technical Performance
The DYN Dynamite 15-Turn Brushed Motor M-DYN1172 represents straightforward engineering focused on delivering consistent performance without unnecessary complexity. Brushed motors operate using a commutator and brush system that creates continuous rotation through electromagnetic principles, resulting in smooth power delivery across the RPM range. The 15-turn specification refers to the number of wire windings around the motor's armature, which directly influences the motor's speed and torque characteristics. With more turns, the motor produces greater torque at lower speeds, making it suitable for applications where acceleration and pulling power are valued. This motor functions with standard RC battery configurations and conventional ESC units commonly found in UK RC setups, including 2S and 3S LiPo batteries depending on your specific vehicle configuration and ESC compatibility. The brushed design means the motor operates through direct electrical commutation rather than electronic switching, making it highly suitable for older RC models and builders who prefer traditional motor technology. Build quality is consistent with Dynamite standards, ensuring the motor housing, armature shaft, and internal components are manufactured to tolerances that support reliable long-term operation in the demanding environment of RC racing and bashing.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Dynamite 15-Turn Brushed Motor suitable for beginners? — Yes, this motor is excellent for beginners because brushed motors are simpler to understand and maintain than brushless alternatives. They require minimal technical knowledge to install and operate, making them ideal for RC enthusiasts new to the hobby who want a straightforward drivetrain solution.
- What battery does the DYN1172 need? — The Dynamite 15-Turn motor works with standard RC batteries commonly used in UK hobby shops. Most applications use 2S or 3S LiPo batteries, but compatibility depends on your specific ESC and vehicle configuration. Always check your ESC specifications and RC chassis manual to confirm proper battery voltage for safe operation.
- How does the 15-turn motor compare to other turn counts? — Motor turns directly affect performance characteristics: lower turn counts (7-9 turns) produce higher speed and lower torque, while higher turn counts (25-35 turns) generate more torque and lower maximum speed. The 15-turn represents a middle-ground option suitable for general-purpose RC driving, making it more versatile than specialised high-speed or high-torque alternatives.
- Can I use this motor in any RC vehicle? — The M-DYN1172 fits standard RC motor mounting patterns found in many popular RC vehicles across the UK hobby market. However, you must verify that your specific chassis has compatible motor mounting, that your ESC supports brushed motor operation, and that your battery voltage matches the motor's specifications. Check your vehicle's manual or contact RC specialists to confirm compatibility before purchasing.
- How does a brushed motor differ from brushless? — Brushed motors use physical brushes and a commutator for electrical switching, while brushless motors use electronic controllers. Brushed motors are simpler, more affordable, easier to maintain, and preferred by many RC enthusiasts for traditional setups. Brushless motors offer higher efficiency and potential for higher speeds but require more complex electronics.
- What maintenance does this motor require? — Brushed motors require occasional brush inspection and replacement when wear becomes visible, though this is typically needed only after extensive use. Regular cleaning of the motor exterior and ensuring proper mechanical alignment contribute to extended motor life and reliable performance.
