Overview

The ARRMA Pinion Gear, 27T MOD1 is a precision-engineered replacement transmission component designed for high-performance RC car enthusiasts across the UK. This tough steel pinion gear is manufactured to exacting standards and serves as a direct replacement for standard kit items on compatible ARRMA models. Whether you're a seasoned RC competitor running a 1/7 scale brushless RC car or a weekend basher pushing your machine to its limits, this pinion gear delivers the durability and precision you need to keep your RC car running smoothly in extreme conditions.

As a dedicated RC car UK enthusiast, you'll appreciate that this MOD1 pinion gear is built from strong, durable steel that's specifically engineered to withstand the demanding environment of high-speed off-road RC racing and bashing. The 27-tooth configuration works in harmony with your motor and spur gear to deliver smooth, reliable power transmission. This is an essential spare part for anyone serious about maintaining their RC vehicle in top condition, and it's particularly valuable for racers and bashers who put significant mileage on their machines.

Compatible with premium ARRMA models including the 1/7 Infraction 6S BLX, this pinion gear represents the kind of quality component that professional RC drivers and hobbyists alike depend on for consistent performance. When you need a replacement pinion gear that meets OEM specifications without compromise, the ARRMA 27T MOD1 is the genuine part you can trust.

Key Features

  • Strong and durable steel construction — Manufactured from premium steel that maintains its integrity even under extreme RC conditions, ensuring your pinion gear won't strip teeth or fail prematurely during aggressive driving or racing.
  • Precision manufactured tooth profile — Each tooth is machined to exact specifications for smooth, efficient operation, which reduces noise and vibration while maximising power transmission efficiency to your wheels.
  • Precision manufactured double set screw holes — The engineered double set screw design ensures secure attachment to your 5mm motor shaft, preventing slippage during high-torque acceleration or deceleration.
  • Compatible 5mm motor shaft — Designed specifically for motors with standard 5mm shafts, making this a direct fit replacement for your ARRMA RC car without requiring any modifications.
  • Includes M4 x 4mm set screw — Everything you need to install this pinion gear is included in the package, so you can get back on the track or trail without additional part purchases.
  • Direct OEM replacement — This is the genuine ARRMA part, not an aftermarket alternative, ensuring perfect fitment and reliability with your RC vehicle.

Technical Performance

The ARRMA Pinion Gear, 27T MOD1 represents the pinnacle of transmission component engineering for 1/7 scale brushless RC vehicles. With 27 teeth and a MOD1 gear pitch, this pinion gear is precisely calculated to work with your ARRMA motor and spur gear assembly to deliver the optimal balance of acceleration and top speed for your particular setup. The MOD1 specification indicates a gear pitch of 1mm, which is a standard metric measurement that ensures compatibility across the ARRMA transmission ecosystem. The steel construction provides exceptional durability under the extreme stresses of brushless motor operation, where torque levels far exceed what nitro or brushed electric motors deliver. The precision-manufactured tooth profile ensures that each tooth engages smoothly with the spur gear, reducing backlash and improving overall drivetrain efficiency. This is particularly important for maintaining the responsiveness of your RC car during competitive racing or high-speed bashing. The double set screw holes provide a fail-safe mechanism for securing the pinion gear to your motor shaft, preventing the catastrophic failure that occurs when a pinion gear slips on the motor shaft during hard acceleration. Whether you're running this on an ARRMA Infraction 6S BLX in silver or blue, you can be confident that this component will perform consistently across multiple bashing sessions or race days.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a MOD1 gear pitch and why does it matter for my RC car? — MOD1 refers to a 1mm module gear pitch, which is a metric standard that determines the size and spacing of teeth on your pinion gear. This specification is critical because it must match the spur gear on your RC car for smooth, efficient power transmission. Using the wrong gear pitch will result in poor mesh, excessive noise, and premature wear on both gears. The ARRMA Pinion Gear, 27T MOD1 is engineered to work perfectly with ARRMA spur gears also rated MOD1, ensuring optimal performance.
  • How do I install this pinion gear on my RC car? — The pinion gear mounts directly onto your 5mm motor shaft using the included M4 x 4mm set screw. You'll need to remove your motor from the RC car, slide the pinion gear onto the shaft, align the set screw hole, and then tighten the set screw securely. The double set screw holes provide redundancy, so if one becomes loose (which shouldn't happen with proper installation), the second set screw will keep the gear in place.
  • What motor shaft size does this fit? — This pinion gear is specifically designed for 5mm motor shafts, which is the standard size used on ARRMA brushless motors. Before purchasing, verify that your motor has a 5mm shaft; this information is typically found in your vehicle's manual or on the ARRMA website.
  • Is this a genuine ARRMA part or an aftermarket replacement? — This is a genuine ARRMA OEM part, not an aftermarket alternative. The ARRMA model number is ARA310940, and it comes with ARRMA's quality assurance. Using genuine parts ensures perfect fitment and reliability, and it's what professional RC racers and serious bashers prefer.
  • Which ARRMA vehicles is this pinion gear compatible with? — According to ARRMA's specifications, this 27T MOD1 pinion gear is compatible with the 1/7 Infraction 6S BLX, which is available in both silver and blue colour variants. If you own a different ARRMA model, check the product fitment guide on the ARRMA website or contact our RC Model Shop team to confirm compatibility before ordering.
  • How long will this pinion gear last? — The strong steel construction means this pinion gear will last considerably longer than softer, cheaper alternatives. However, like any high-wear component, its lifespan depends on how frequently you use your RC car and the conditions it runs in. Regular inspection during maintenance will help you identify when the teeth become worn and need replacement. For competitive racers, this might be every few months; for casual bashers, it could last a year or more.
  • What is the 27-tooth count ideal for? — The 27-tooth pinion gear is a mid-range tooth count that provides a balanced setup for most driving conditions. Compared to lower tooth counts (like 23T), the 27T offers slightly higher torque and acceleration. Compared to higher tooth counts (like 31T), it provides a bit more top speed. The exact gearing ratio depends on your spur gear tooth count, so work with that in mind when selecting your pinion gear.
