Overview

The AXIAL Bearing 5x14x5mm (2) Z-AX31407 is an essential replacement or upgrade component for serious RC enthusiasts and competitive rock crawlers across the UK. Whether you're maintaining your SCX10 III, upgrading a Deadbolt, or refreshing worn bearings on your favourite scale crawler, these genuine Axial ball bearings deliver the precision engineering and durability that discerning RC modellers demand. As a critical component in high-performance RC vehicles, quality bearings directly impact handling, speed and longevity — making this a worthwhile investment for anyone serious about their RC car hobby.

These precision ball bearings are designed to work as the inner pinion bearing within the AR44 Axle assembly, a specification that appears across multiple Axial SCX10 III models and other leading RC crawlers. The 5x14x5mm dimensions provide the exact fit and performance characteristics required for optimal drivetrain function. Genuine Axial spare parts ensure compatibility, reliability and the performance standards your RC vehicle deserves, whether you're running your rig through challenging terrain or maintaining it to competition standards.

For RC enthusiasts across the UK seeking authentic Axial components, this bearing pair represents excellent value and genuine engineering quality. Unlike inferior alternatives, these bearings are manufactured by Axial with high-quality components engineered for extended life and consistent performance. Available in a convenient pair format, they're ready to install and get your RC crawler back to peak performance.

Key Features

  • Steel Construction for Durability — These bearings are built from steel, providing exceptional strength and wear resistance that withstands the demanding conditions of RC rock crawling, bashing and competitive driving without premature degradation or failure.
  • Reduced Rolling Resistance — Ball bearings provide significantly less rolling resistance compared to traditional bushings, which means smoother operation, more responsive handling and improved efficiency across your drivetrain system.
  • Enhanced Precision Over Bushings — The ball bearing design offers greater precision than bushing alternatives, translating to more accurate steering response, better traction control and more predictable handling characteristics that serious RC drivers can feel and appreciate.
  • Inner Pinion Bearing for AR44 Axle — These bearings are specifically engineered to function as the inner pinion bearing within Axial's AR44 Axle assembly, ensuring perfect compatibility and optimal performance in this critical drivetrain position.
  • Genuine Axial Manufacture — Manufactured by Axial using high-quality components, these bearings are engineered for longevity and consistent performance, delivering genuine spare parts reliability rather than aftermarket alternatives.
  • Convenient Pair Format — Supplied as a pack of two bearings, these are ready to install as a complete set, making maintenance and upgrades straightforward for RC modellers of all experience levels.

Technical Performance

The AXIAL Bearing 5x14x5mm represents precision engineering at the component level, delivering performance characteristics essential for modern RC vehicles. The specific 5x14x5mm dimensions are engineered to provide exact fit and performance within Axial's AR44 Axle assembly, the driveline component used across multiple SCX10 III variants and other professional-grade RC crawlers. Steel construction provides the hardness and wear resistance necessary for extended service life, even under the demanding conditions of competitive rock crawling, bashing and trail running. The ball bearing design fundamentally outperforms traditional bushings by reducing friction and rolling resistance throughout the drivetrain, which directly translates to smoother operation, faster acceleration response and improved overall efficiency. For RC enthusiasts and competitors, this means more predictable handling, better power delivery to the wheels and the kind of component-level reliability that distinguishes professional builds from casual hobby setups. The manufacturing quality ensures these bearings maintain their precision characteristics across countless operating cycles, whether your RC vehicle sees weekend trail running, regular club competitions or intense bashing sessions. Installation within the AR44 Axle positions these bearings at a critical point in your drivetrain geometry, making their quality and precision absolutely essential to overall vehicle performance and longevity.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which Axial RC models are compatible with the Z-AX31407 bearings? — These bearings are compatible with a comprehensive range of Axial SCX10 III variants, including the Deadbolt 4WD Brushed RTR (Tan), SCX10 III Jeep JT Gladiator with Portals RTR (Black), SCX10 III Base Camp 4WD Rock Crawler Builders Kit, SCX10 III Base Camp 4X4 Rock Crawler RTR (Grey and White versions), SCX10 III Coyote 4X4 RTR Brushed Rock Crawler (Silver and Blue versions), SCX10 III 1987 Toyota SR5 4X4 RTR Brushed Rock Crawler, SCX10 III Pro-Line 1982 Chevy K10 RTR, SCX10 III 4WD Rock Crawler Builders Kit, SCX10 III Early Ford Bronco 4WD Scale Crawler RTR (Blue and White versions) and SCX10 III Jeep CJ-7 4X4 RTR Rock Crawler (Red and Copper versions).
  • What is the difference between ball bearings and bushings in RC vehicles? — Ball bearings, like these Axial components, provide significantly less rolling resistance and greater precision than traditional bushings. This means your RC vehicle will experience smoother operation, more responsive handling and better overall drivetrain efficiency, making the upgrade worthwhile for any serious RC enthusiast.
  • Are these genuine Axial bearings? — Yes, the Z-AX31407 is a genuine Axial component, manufactured by Axial using high-quality materials engineered for longevity and consistent performance, rather than aftermarket or third-party alternatives that may compromise reliability.
  • Why would I need to replace these bearings? — Ball bearings wear gradually over time and under intense use, particularly in demanding RC applications like rock crawling and competitive driving. When bearings become worn or damaged, they develop resistance and play in the drivetrain, causing noticeably poor handling and performance. Replacement with genuine Axial bearings restores your RC vehicle to original performance specifications.
  • How difficult is installation? — Installation requires basic RC modelling skills and typically involves removing the AR44 Axle assembly and carefully replacing the worn inner pinion bearings with the new units. Most experienced RC enthusiasts can complete this upgrade within 15-30 minutes, though first-time builders may find it helpful to consult vehicle documentation or seek advice from experienced community members.
  • Are these bearings suitable for beginners? — These bearings are replacement components suitable for anyone maintaining or upgrading an Axial RC vehicle, from casual weekend drivers to competitive racers. If you're just beginning your RC hobby and using a standard Axial RTR model, you may not need these immediately, but they represent an excellent spare parts investment as your experience and RC collection grows.
