Whether you're competing in track races, enjoying weekend bashers, or pushing your RC car to its limits, this pinion gear represents the quality and attention to detail that separates professional-grade upgrades from standard components.
Designed as an option part compatible with numerous popular RC platforms, the Fastrax 48Dp 32T pinion gear delivers the precision mesh and reliability that RC competitors and enthusiasts have come to expect from the Fastrax brand. This is the kind of upgrade that makes a genuine difference to your vehicle's performance, acceleration response, and overall drivetrain reliability. Whether you're upgrading from standard plastic gears or replacing worn components, investing in a quality aluminium pinion gear like this one is a decision that will pay dividends across seasons of RC driving.
RC car UK enthusiasts know that drivetrain components are critical to overall vehicle performance, and the gear system is absolutely central to how your RC car accelerates, maintains top speed, and responds to throttle input. The Fastrax 48Dp 32T pinion gear sits at the heart of this system, and choosing the right pinion is essential for achieving the performance characteristics you want from your ready to run RC car or custom build.
Key Features
- 48 Diametral Pitch (48Dp) Specification — This precise gear pitch is a standard measurement in the RC hobby that ensures perfect meshing compatibility with corresponding spur gears in your vehicle's drivetrain, guaranteeing smooth power delivery and minimal noise during operation.
- 32-Tooth Configuration — The 32-tooth count directly influences your vehicle's acceleration curve and top speed potential, allowing you to fine-tune your RC car's performance characteristics by choosing between different pinion sizes for your specific driving style and racing conditions.
- Aluminium 7075 Construction — This aircraft-grade aluminium alloy is one of the strongest metals available in the RC hobby, offering superior strength-to-weight ratio compared to standard steel or plastic gears, resulting in less flex, better power transmission efficiency, and dramatically extended component lifespan.
- Premium Manufacturing Quality — Fastrax components are recognised across the RC community for precision engineering and consistent quality, meaning each tooth is cut to exact specifications for reliable meshing and optimal drivetrain performance.
- Wide Compatibility — As an option part, this pinion gear is designed to work with numerous popular RC platforms and vehicle types, making it a versatile upgrade choice for owners of various RC models across the UK market.
- Increased Durability — The robust aluminium construction resists stripping, shearing, and wear far more effectively than plastic alternatives, significantly reducing maintenance costs and downtime between races or driving sessions.
- Lightweight Design — Despite its superior strength, aluminium remains lighter than steel, helping to maintain optimal weight distribution in your RC car and contributing to improved handling and acceleration characteristics.
Technical Performance
The Fastrax 48Dp 32T Aluminium 7075 Pinion Gear represents serious engineering designed for the demanding world of RC competition and high-performance bashing. The use of aluminium 7075 — an alloy specifically chosen for aerospace applications due to its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio — means this pinion gear delivers performance that rivals or exceeds many competitor offerings in the RC car UK marketplace. The 48 diametral pitch specification places this gear in the standard range used across most modern electric RC vehicles, from brushless RC buggies to ready to run RC cars from major manufacturers. The precision-cut 32-tooth design creates a specific gear ratio that influences how quickly your vehicle accelerates and the theoretical top speed potential, with different tooth counts allowing enthusiasts to optimise performance for their particular racing or bashing preferences. The engineering behind this component ensures minimal backlash during mesh, smooth engagement with your spur gear, and consistent torque transmission throughout your driving session. Whether you're running a 3S LiPo-powered electric RC car or experimenting with different motor configurations, the reliability of your drivetrain depends critically on quality components like this pinion gear, making it an investment in both performance and longevity for your RC equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a pinion gear and why does it matter for my RC car? — A pinion gear is a small gear that connects your motor directly to your vehicle's transmission system, directly controlling how power from your motor is transferred to the wheels. The size and tooth count of your pinion gear determines your vehicle's acceleration and top speed characteristics; a smaller pinion (fewer teeth) gives faster acceleration and lower top speed, while a larger pinion (more teeth) provides higher top speed but slower acceleration. Choosing the right pinion for your racing conditions is absolutely critical to performance.
- Why choose aluminium 7075 instead of steel or plastic? — Aluminium 7075 offers the perfect balance of strength, weight, and durability for RC applications. It's significantly stronger than plastic gears (which can strip under load), lighter than steel gears (which can unbalance your vehicle), and maintains precise tooth geometry even under extended use. This means better power transmission efficiency, less mechanical noise, and longer component lifespan between replacements.
- Is the 48Dp 32T configuration suitable for my RC car? — The 48 diametral pitch is the standard specification for most modern electric RC vehicles, including buggies, monster trucks, and other commonly available ready to run RC cars. The 32-tooth count is a mid-range option that provides a balanced approach to acceleration and top speed; some drivers prefer 30T for more acceleration or 34T for higher top speed, depending on their driving style and racing conditions.
- Will this pinion gear work with my current vehicle? — This part is designed as an option component for numerous popular RC platforms. Check your vehicle's manual or contact our team at RC Model Shop to confirm compatibility with your specific model, as different platforms may use different gear specifications.
- How long will this pinion gear last? — With proper maintenance and appropriate driving, an aluminium 7075 pinion gear like this one can provide thousands of kilometres of reliable service. Plastic gears typically need replacement after a few months of regular use, while quality aluminium pinions often last for years. Regular inspection and prompt replacement of the meshing spur gear will maximise your pinion's lifespan.
- What is the difference between 48Dp and other pitch specifications? — The diametral pitch (Dp) is simply a measurement of gear tooth size and spacing. 48Dp is the modern standard for electric RC cars, offering a good balance between strength and smooth meshing characteristics. Older vehicles might use 64Dp or 32Dp, but 48Dp is by far the most common specification for contemporary RC vehicles across the UK hobby scene.
