Overview

The Radient Charge Lead XT60 to Deans Male 14AWG 150mm (RDNAC010153) is an essential accessory for RC enthusiasts who use multiple connector types in their charging setups. Whether you're running brushless RC cars, electric RC trucks, or any RC model UK hobbyists favour, having the right charging leads ensures safe, efficient power delivery to your batteries. This compact cable bridges the gap between XT60 and Deans male connectors, making it invaluable for anyone with a mixed fleet of RC vehicles that use different charging standards.

Designed by Radient, a trusted name in RC accessories, this charge lead combines durability with practicality. The 150mm length is deliberately short to help keep your charging bench tidy and organised, reducing cable clutter whilst maintaining safe distances between connectors. Whether you're a seasoned RC competitor or a weekend basher exploring the world of RC hobbies in the UK, having dedicated charge leads for each connector type is far better than trying to adapt on the fly. This lead makes the transition seamless and safe.

At just £3.32, the Radient Charge Lead represents excellent value for money and is an affordable way to ensure your charging infrastructure is properly set up. For anyone serious about maintaining their RC collection—whether that's 1/10 scale buggies, monster trucks, or specialist RC models—this is a product that should be in your toolkit. In stock and ready to ship, it's available from RC Model Shop with our usual commitment to quality and customer service.

Key Features

  • XT60 to Deans Male Connectors — This charge lead features a female XT60 connector on one end and a male Deans connector on the other, allowing you to safely connect chargers or power supplies that use different connector standards without needing multiple separate cables or unreliable adapters.
  • 14AWG Copper Wire — The use of 14-gauge copper wire provides excellent conductivity and current-carrying capacity, ensuring minimal voltage drop during charging whilst the durable copper construction guarantees long service life even with frequent use.
  • Compact 150mm Length — At just 150mm long, this cable is specifically designed to stay compact on your charging bench, helping you maintain a neat and organised workspace without excess cable sprawl that could create safety hazards or tangled leads.
  • Colour-Coded Insulation — The lead features clear black and red insulation, with red typically indicating positive and black indicating negative, allowing for quick visual identification and helping prevent dangerous reverse-polarity connections during setup.
  • Durable Construction — Built with quality materials throughout, this charge lead is designed to withstand the demands of regular RC use and charging cycles, providing reliable performance season after season for RC enthusiasts across the UK.

Technical Performance

The Radient Charge Lead XT60 to Deans Male delivers the reliable performance expected from a professional-grade charging accessory. The 14AWG copper wire gauge is specifically chosen for charging applications, offering the right balance between flexibility and current-carrying capacity without unnecessary bulk. This gauge is suitable for standard RC battery charging currents, making it compatible with chargers used for everything from entry-level ready-to-run RC cars to higher-performance brushless setups. The copper construction ensures minimal resistance, which translates to efficient power transfer and reduced heat generation during charging—critical factors when working with lithium polymer or other advanced battery chemistries. The XT60 connector is a widely-used standard in modern RC applications, particularly in the electric RC car community across the UK, whilst the Deans connector remains popular on many existing RC platforms and chargers. The 150mm length is perfectly suited for bench use, allowing you to connect your charger to your battery without creating unnecessary cable length that could be a trip hazard or become entangled. The colour-coded insulation (black and red) follows industry standards and helps prevent accidental reverse-polarity connections, which could damage expensive RC equipment or create safety risks. With a shipping weight of just 0.02kg, this lead is lightweight and portable, making it ideal for keeping in your RC kit bag whether you're heading to a local club event, a competition venue, or simply setting up at home for weekend RC sessions.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What connectors does this charge lead use and will it work with my charger? — This lead features a female XT60 connector and a male Deans connector. You'll need a charger with either an XT60 female port or a Deans male port. If your charger uses different connectors, you may need additional leads or adapters. The XT60 connector is extremely popular in modern RC applications, whilst Deans connectors are common on many established RC platforms and chargers.
  • Is this suitable for beginners getting into RC hobbies? — Yes, absolutely. If you're new to RC cars or RC models in the UK and have batteries with different connector types, this charge lead makes it easy to connect them to your charger safely and efficiently. It eliminates the need for dangerous DIY solutions or multiple dedicated chargers.
  • What current can this lead safely handle during charging? — The 14AWG copper wire is designed for standard RC battery charging currents, typically suitable for charge rates up to approximately 20-30A depending on the specific battery chemistry and charger used. Always follow your charger and battery manufacturer's guidelines for safe charging currents.
  • Why is the length only 150mm and is that long enough? — The 150mm length is deliberately short to keep your charging bench organised and tidy. This is sufficient for connecting a charger to a battery on a bench setup. For longer-distance applications, you may need a different length cable.
  • How does this compare to using adapters instead of a dedicated charge lead? — A dedicated charge lead like this is far superior to stacking multiple adapters together. Adapters introduce additional connection points where voltage drop can occur and reliability can be compromised. A single, purpose-built lead provides better conductivity, is safer, and more reliable for regular use.
  • Can I use this with all types of RC batteries? — This lead is designed for use during charging and is suitable for lithium polymer (LiPo), lithium-ion, and other rechargeable battery chemistries commonly used in RC vehicles. Always ensure your charger is compatible with your specific battery type before charging.
