Overview

The Spektrum DSMX/DSMR Telemetry Temperature Sensor (model SPMA9571) is an essential accessory for RC enthusiasts who demand real-time performance monitoring on their model vehicles. This compact telemetry sensor integrates seamlessly with Spektrum's industry-leading DSMX and DSMR radio systems, enabling you to track critical temperature data from your RC car, truck, buggy or crawler whilst operating it. Whether you're competing in organised RC racing events across the UK, enjoying weekend bashing sessions, or pushing your brushless RC car to its limits, this sensor provides valuable insights into your vehicle's operational status.

Telemetry data has become increasingly important in the RC hobby, particularly for those running high-performance brushless motors and sensitive electronic speed controllers. By monitoring temperature readings in real-time, you can identify potential issues before they cause catastrophic damage to your equipment. The Spektrum DSMR/DSMX Telemetry Temperature Sensor delivers this critical information directly to your transmitter, allowing you to make informed decisions about throttle management, cooling intervals and component lifespan during operation.

This temperature sensor is purpose-built for serious RC enthusiasts who want to extend the longevity of their investment and maintain peak performance. It's compatible with any Spektrum receiver or module equipped with telemetry capabilities and any DSMR/DSMX transmitter with telemetry functionality, making it a versatile addition to existing Spektrum-based RC setups.

Key Features

  • Easy Installation — The sensor is designed for straightforward setup without requiring complex modifications to your RC model, allowing you to add telemetry monitoring quickly and get back to driving. Installation takes minutes rather than hours, making it accessible for both experienced modellers and those newer to the RC hobby.
  • Telemetry Capable — This sensor transmits real-time temperature data to your Spektrum transmitter display, giving you live feedback on the thermal status of critical components such as motors, speed controllers, or battery packs. This live monitoring capability means you're never operating blind when it comes to component health.
  • Compatible with DSMR/DSMX Systems — The sensor works exclusively with Spektrum's advanced DSMR and DSMX radio protocols, ensuring reliable, interference-free communication across busy frequencies. These proven protocols are recognised worldwide and trusted by competitive RC racers and weekend hobbyists alike.
  • Temperature Monitoring — By providing accurate temperature readings during operation, this sensor helps prevent thermal damage to expensive components, extends equipment lifespan and allows you to optimise your driving style for maximum performance without risking overheating.

Technical Performance

The Spektrum DSMX/DSMR Telemetry Temperature Sensor represents reliable engineering designed to work within Spektrum's comprehensive telemetry ecosystem. This sensor has received a solid 4 out of 5 customer rating, reflecting its dependability and ease of use among RC enthusiasts. The device integrates with compatible Spektrum receivers and modules that feature telemetry inputs, communicating temperature data back to telemetry-capable DSMX and DSMR transmitters. The sensor is constructed with durability in mind, suitable for use in various RC applications including electric RC buggies, RC monster trucks, RC crawlers, and other model vehicles. Its compact design means it adds minimal weight to your setup while delivering maximum information. The telemetry data transmission is handled through Spektrum's proven DSMX and DSMR digital protocols, which offer superior range, security and immunity to interference compared to older analogue systems. This makes it equally suitable for casual recreational driving in parks and fields across the UK as well as for competitive racing environments.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Spektrum Temperature Sensor compatible with my RC radio system? — The sensor is compatible exclusively with Spektrum receivers or modules that support telemetry, paired with DSMR or DSMX transmitters that have telemetry capability. Before purchasing, verify that your current Spektrum system includes telemetry support by consulting your receiver and transmitter documentation or contacting Spektrum support directly.
  • What temperature range can this sensor measure? — Whilst the source documentation does not specify the exact temperature measurement range, Spektrum temperature sensors typically monitor operational thermal ranges relevant to RC components. Refer to the official Spektrum instruction manual (available on the manufacturer's website) for precise temperature specifications.
  • How difficult is installation on my RC car or truck? — Installation is designed to be straightforward for most users. The sensor is simply connected to a telemetry-compatible receiver input, and you position the sensor near the component you wish to monitor (such as near your motor, ESC, or battery). No complex modifications to your vehicle's electronics are typically required. Detailed installation instructions are included with the sensor.
  • Can I use this sensor on multiple RC vehicles? — Yes, the sensor can be moved between compatible RC setups as needed. Simply disconnect it from one vehicle's telemetry receiver input and connect it to another compatible system. This modularity makes it a good investment for those operating multiple RC models.
  • What makes real-time telemetry temperature monitoring valuable? — Telemetry temperature monitoring provides live data about component health during operation, helping you identify thermal issues before they damage expensive motors and electronic speed controllers. This is particularly valuable when running high-performance brushless RC cars where thermal management directly impacts longevity and reliability. By watching temperature trends, you can adjust your driving style, plan cooling breaks, and prevent catastrophic failures.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — The sensor itself is beginner-friendly due to its simple installation process. However, you'll need an existing Spektrum telemetry-capable system to use it effectively. If you're new to RC and haven't yet invested in a Spektrum radio system with telemetry capability, you might want to consider a complete telemetry starter setup first.
  • When will the product be back in stock? — According to the manufacturer, the next shipment is expected in August 2026. You can add this item to your wishlist on the RC Model Shop website to receive notification when it becomes available again.
