Overview
The Axial SCX6: S.S. Steering Link Set is an essential replacement part for owners of the 1/6 scale SCX6 rock crawler range. This premium suspension component is designed to maintain optimal steering response and handling characteristics on your RC car, whether you're tackling challenging terrain or enjoying weekend adventures. The S.S. (stainless steel) construction ensures durability and corrosion resistance, making this an ideal upgrade or replacement for rock crawlers that see regular use in demanding conditions. If you own a 1/6 scale Axial SCX6 and want to maintain peak performance, this steering link set represents the authentic manufacturer solution trusted by RC enthusiasts across the UK.
Steering links are critical components in any RC rock crawler's suspension system, directly influencing how your vehicle responds to transmitter input and how effectively it can navigate obstacles. Over time, standard steering links can wear, bend, or lose their precision fit, compromising the handling characteristics that make the SCX6 platform so popular amongst serious RC hobbyists. This genuine Axial replacement set addresses those concerns with premium materials and exact engineering tolerances that match the original equipment specifications. Whether you're replacing worn components or building a second set of steering geometry for different terrain conditions, this product delivers the reliability and performance you expect from an authorised Axial parts supplier.
The dual-length configuration—200.8mm and 119.5mm—provides the specific geometry required by the SCX6 platform, ensuring compatibility with both the Jeep JLU Wrangler and Trail Honcho variants. This comprehensive steering solution allows you to restore your RC rock crawler to factory specifications or maintain consistent handling across multiple vehicles. RC car enthusiasts in the UK who demand genuine parts and authentic engineering will appreciate the straightforward quality of this steering link set from Axial.
Key Features
- Stainless Steel Construction — The S.S. (stainless steel) material composition provides superior corrosion resistance compared to standard steel alternatives, meaning your steering links will maintain their performance even when exposed to moisture, salt, or demanding outdoor conditions common in UK terrain and weather.
- Dual-Length Configuration — This set includes both 200.8mm and 119.5mm links, providing the precise steering geometry required by the SCX6 platform and ensuring proper suspension alignment and responsive handling characteristics across the full range of movement.
- Genuine Axial Manufacturing — As an authentic manufacturer part, this steering link set is engineered to exact specifications that match your SCX6's original equipment, guaranteeing compatibility and maintaining the precise handling balance that makes the platform renowned among rock crawler enthusiasts.
- Direct Replacement Component — This product functions as a direct replacement part for your existing steering links, meaning installation is straightforward and no additional modifications or adjustments to your RC car's geometry are required to achieve proper fit and function.
- Compatible with Multiple SCX6 Variants — Whether you own a Jeep JLU Wrangler or Trail Honcho variant, this steering link set delivers the correct geometry for both models, providing a single solution that works across the entire 1/6 scale SCX6 range available to UK RC enthusiasts.
Technical Performance
The Axial SCX6: S.S. Steering Link Set represents precision suspension engineering designed specifically for the demanding requirements of 1/6 scale rock crawler operation. Stainless steel construction ensures exceptional durability whilst maintaining the exact dimensional tolerances that the SCX6 platform demands for responsive, predictable steering feel. The two-piece configuration—comprising the 200.8mm and 119.5mm links—addresses the specific suspension geometry of the SCX6 platform, where front steering linkage must connect the steering servo output to the front steering knuckle assembly. The 200.8mm link provides the primary steering input path, whilst the 119.5mm component ensures proper mechanical advantage and geometry at full steering extremes. These dimensions are critical because they directly influence steering responsiveness, on-centre feel, and the amount of steering input required to achieve desired direction changes. In rock crawling applications where precision steering is essential for navigating tight obstacle courses and technical terrain, maintaining exact steering geometry becomes paramount. The S.S. material choice eliminates concerns about rust or corrosion that might affect performance in wet conditions—a practical consideration for UK-based RC operators who frequently encounter damp, muddy, or water-rich environments. Each link is manufactured to Axial's original specifications, ensuring that installation restores your SCX6 to factory-standard handling characteristics and suspension performance.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Which SCX6 models is this steering link set compatible with? — This steering link set is compatible with the Axial 1/6 SCX6 Jeep JLU Wrangler 4WD Rock Crawler RTR and the Axial 1/6 SCX6 Trail Honcho 4WD RTR. Both variants use the same steering geometry, making this a universal solution for the SCX6 platform. The set works with all colour variants of these models, including Green, Silver, Red, and Sand versions.
- Why would I need to replace my steering links? — Steering links can wear, bend, or lose precision fit through regular use, especially in demanding rock crawling applications where vehicles encounter obstacles, impacts, and extreme articulation. Worn steering links cause imprecise steering input, dead zones in the steering response, or uneven turning characteristics. Replacing them restores your SCX6 to factory specifications and responsive handling.
- What is the benefit of stainless steel construction? — Stainless steel provides superior corrosion resistance compared to standard steel, meaning your steering links will resist rust and degradation when exposed to moisture, mud, or salt-laden conditions. This is particularly valuable for UK-based RC operators who frequently encounter wet terrain and unpredictable weather conditions. The material also maintains its dimensional precision and performance characteristics over extended periods of use.
- Are these genuine Axial parts or aftermarket replacements? — These are genuine Axial manufacturer parts (model number AXI254000), engineered and produced to the same specifications as the original equipment fitted to new SCX6 vehicles. This ensures perfect compatibility, proper fit, and performance characteristics identical to factory standards.
- How difficult is installation of the steering links? — Steering link replacement is a moderate-difficulty maintenance task suitable for RC enthusiasts with basic mechanical experience. The links connect to the servo output arm and front knuckle assembly, typically requiring the removal of retaining clips or ball studs. Detailed installation instructions are available from Axial's technical documentation, and our team at RC Model Shop can provide guidance if needed.
- Do I need any special tools to install these steering links? — Installation typically requires basic RC tools including ball stud removers (commonly included with most RC cars) and potentially small pliers or hex keys depending on your specific SCX6 configuration. A detailed assembly manual from Axial will specify exact requirements for your vehicle.
