Overview
The ARRMA Shock Spring 85mm 1.09N/mm (6.2lb/in) suspension upgrade kit is an essential tuning component for serious RC enthusiasts running ARRMA 6S brushless vehicles. Whether you're competing with an RC buggy, bashing with an RC monster truck, or pushing the limits of speed trucks and stunt trucks, these precision-engineered shock springs allow you to fine-tune your vehicle's handling characteristics in seconds. This is the perfect upgrade for anyone looking to optimise their RC car UK setup without requiring extensive mechanical knowledge or special tools.
Included in this pack are two 85mm shock springs rated at 1.09N/mm (6.2lb/in), providing the exact stiffness specification that ARRMA engineers have developed for their 6S fleet of high-performance vehicles. These springs are manufactured to exacting tolerances using premium spring steel, ensuring that both springs deliver identical performance for balanced, predictable handling across all conditions. Whether you're running the 1/8 Kraton, Notorious or Outcast, the 1/7 Big Rock or Fireteam, or any other ARRMA 6S model, having the correct spring rates is crucial for maximising traction, stability and overall vehicle control.
Unlike generic aftermarket springs, these springs are purpose-designed for ARRMA 6S applications and have been tested extensively to deliver consistent performance and long-lasting durability. For RC enthusiasts in the UK looking to upgrade their suspension tuning options, this is a genuine OEM-spec upgrade that will make an immediate difference to how your vehicle handles both on and off the track.
Key Features
- Precision manufactured spring steel construction — These shock springs are fabricated from high-grade spring steel using precision manufacturing techniques, which ensures that each coil maintains perfect consistency throughout the spring's length and that both springs in the pack are identically matched for balanced performance.
- 85mm length specification — At 85mm long, these springs are engineered to fit ARRMA 6S shock absorbers perfectly, providing the correct stroke length and ensuring your suspension articulates smoothly without binding or bottoming out.
- 1.09N/mm spring rate (6.2lb/in) — This specific spring rate has been selected by ARRMA engineers to deliver optimal handling balance for 6S vehicles, allowing you to maintain traction on loose surfaces while keeping the chassis stable during high-speed driving and technical manoeuvres.
- Pair of identical springs — You receive two springs in this pack, which is the minimum requirement for front and rear suspension setup, allowing you to replace worn springs or experiment with suspension tuning.
- Instant handling adjustment — By simply swapping your existing springs for these stiffer or softer alternatives, you can tune your RC car UK setup within seconds, making it easy to dial in the perfect handling characteristics for different driving conditions without needing specialist tools or mechanical experience.
- Consistent long-lasting performance — The premium spring steel formulation provides excellent fatigue resistance, meaning these springs will maintain their rated spring rate through hundreds of impact cycles, crashes and aggressive driving without permanently losing their stiffness or developing irregularities.
Technical Performance
These ARRMA shock springs represent genuine OEM suspension components designed specifically for the ARRMA 6S lineup of brushless RC vehicles. The 1.09N/mm (6.2lb/in) spring rate is a medium stiffness specification that works excellently across a wide variety of driving conditions, providing enough compliance for technical off-road terrain whilst maintaining sufficient support for high-speed driving and aggressive cornering. The 85mm length specification is precisely engineered to integrate with ARRMA shock absorber bodies, allowing full suspension stroke without interference or binding. Each spring is manufactured to tolerances that keep the pair perfectly matched, eliminating the handling inconsistencies that can occur when left and right springs have slightly different rates. The spring steel composition ensures that the springs maintain their rated stiffness through thousands of compression and extension cycles, making them reliable components that won't lose performance after a few bashing sessions. ARRMA includes these springs as standard on numerous models including the 1/8 Kraton 6S 4x4 RTR brushless speed truck, the 1/8 Notorious 6S 4x4 RTR brushless stunt truck, the 1/8 Outcast 6S 4x4 RTR brushless stunt truck, the 1/7 Big Rock 6S 4x4 RTR brushless monster truck, and the 1/7 Fireteam 6S 4x4 RTR brushless buggy, confirming that this spring rate is the professional choice for high-performance 6S applications.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What ARRMA models do these shock springs fit? — These 85mm 1.09N/mm springs are confirmed fitments for the 1/7 Big Rock 6S, 1/7 Fireteam 6S, 1/8 Kraton 6S (including roller, standard RTR and EXB variants), 1/8 Notorious 6S RTR models, and 1/8 Outcast 6S (including standard RTR, limited edition and EXB variants). They are listed as standard parts for all these vehicles, meaning they are the OEM-specification springs that these RC monster trucks, speed trucks, stunt trucks and buggies come equipped with from the factory.
- Why would I need replacement shock springs for my ARRMA RC car? — Shock springs deteriorate over time and use, especially if you bash your RC truck or buggy regularly or compete with it. Springs can lose stiffness after impacts, crashes or extended use, causing your vehicle to sit lower, lose suspension support, and develop unpredictable handling. Having replacement springs on hand means you can quickly restore your vehicle to factory specifications or experiment with different spring rates to tune your setup for specific conditions.
- How do I know if I need softer or stiffer springs? — If your ARRMA 6S vehicle is sitting too low or diving excessively under acceleration and braking, you may benefit from stiffer springs. If the chassis is too stiff and bouncy, or if you're losing traction because the suspension isn't articulating enough, softer springs may help. These 1.09N/mm springs are the medium specification, so testing alongside softer and stiffer options will help you dial in the ideal setup for your driving style and local conditions.
- Can I use these springs on other ARRMA models? — These springs are specifically engineered for ARRMA 6S vehicles. Do not attempt to use them on other ARRMA platforms (3S, 8S or vehicles from other manufacturers) as the suspension geometry and damper characteristics differ significantly, and incorrect springs could damage shock absorbers or create unsafe handling characteristics.
- Are these springs easy to install? — Yes, shock spring replacement is one of the simplest suspension modifications you can perform on an RC car. Springs simply compress into the shock body and are retained by shock caps. No special tools are required beyond your basic RC toolkit. Most users can complete the installation in under five minutes per shock.
- How long do these springs last? — The premium spring steel formulation and precision manufacturing ensure these springs maintain their rated stiffness through hundreds of use cycles. Actual lifespan depends on driving intensity, the severity of impacts, and whether you store them correctly between use. Springs that are properly maintained and stored indoors typically last several seasons before requiring replacement.
