Technical Performance
The Hobbywing Quicrun 1060 Brushed SBEC ESC represents a focused engineering approach to speed controller design, optimised specifically for 1/10th scale brushed motor applications. The 60A continuous current rating, backed by an impressive 360A peak current handling capability, ensures that even motors with substantial torque demands receive the power they need without voltage sag or performance degradation. The controller is specifically rated for brushed motors up to 12T (turns) at 7.4 volts, providing clear compatibility guidance for UK RC modellers selecting appropriate motor combinations. Built into a compact aluminium housing measuring just 35.5mm x 32.18mm x 18.0mm and weighing a featherweight 39 grams, the Quicrun 1060 fits easily into tight battery compartments found in modern 1/10th scale vehicles. The waterproof and dust-proof construction utilises sealed connector housing and conformal coating on the circuit board to repel moisture and contamination, a critical feature for UK modellers who frequently encounter wet conditions. The integrated switch-mode BEC operates in linear mode, converting battery voltage down to a stable 6V output capable of delivering 3A to receiver and servo circuits — sufficient power for standard 1/10th scale servo requirements. The combination of 2S or 3S LiPo battery compatibility (or 6-9 cell NiMH alternatives) with straightforward programming via industry-standard throttle channel inputs makes this ESC a genuinely user-friendly solution for beginners and experienced enthusiasts alike.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Hobbywing Quicrun 1060 suitable for complete beginners to RC cars? — Absolutely. Hobbywing specifically designed this ESC with new beginners in mind. The straightforward throttle channel input, simple brake and forward/reverse functionality, and reliable out-of-box performance make it one of the most beginner-friendly speed controllers available. You won't need advanced programming knowledge to get started, though the option exists for experienced modellers who want to fine-tune performance.
- What battery should I use with the Quicrun 1060? — The Quicrun 1060 accepts 2S or 3S LiPo batteries, or traditional 6-9 cell NiMH battery packs. Most UK RC modellers favour 2S or 3S LiPo packs due to their superior power-to-weight ratio and consistent voltage delivery. Always use a charger specifically designed for your battery chemistry, and never exceed the 3S maximum voltage rating.
- Can I use this ESC in wet weather and muddy conditions? — Yes, this is one of the Quicrun 1060's strongest advantages. The fully waterproof and dust-proof design means you can confidently use this speed controller in rain, mud, puddles and wet grass without fear of water damage. The sealed connectors and conformal coating on the circuit board provide protection against moisture ingress that would damage less robust controllers.
- What is the difference between the Quicrun 1060 and other brushed ESCs? — The Quicrun 1060 occupies a sweet spot for beginners: it offers genuine waterproof protection (not all budget ESCs include this), integrated SBEC power (eliminating the need for a separate battery), and proven Hobbywing reliability at a competitive price point. Many competing brushed ESCs either lack waterproof sealing or require additional battery packs for receiver power, making the Quicrun 1060 a more complete and practical solution.
- What motor should I pair with this ESC? — Hobbywing rates the Quicrun 1060 for brushed motors up to 12T at 7.4 volts. This means you can safely run any brushed motor with 12 turns or higher (13T, 16T, 19T, etc.). Running lower-turn motors (higher power) may exceed the ESC's continuous current rating and trigger thermal protection. Check your specific motor's current draw specification against the 60A continuous limit.
- How does the SBEC feature benefit me? — The integrated SBEC means your receiver and servos draw power directly from the main battery through the speed controller, rather than requiring a separate battery pack. This simplifies wiring, reduces overall weight in your RC car, and eliminates the need to manage multiple battery packs during charging and field use.
- Is programming required before use? — No. The Quicrun 1060 ships with sensible default settings suitable for most 1/10th scale vehicles. However, if you want to adjust parameters like brake strength, acceleration response, or temperature cutoff thresholds, you can programme these settings via the throttle channel using receiver inputs or an optional data link programmer.
