Overview
The Tamiya Lexan Spray Paint PS-29 Fluorescent Pink is a specialist polycarbonate spray paint designed exclusively for decorating transparent polycarbonate bodies used in RC car modelling. The distinctive fluorescent pink colour offers exceptional visibility and visual impact, making it an ideal choice for hobbyists and competitive racers alike who want their RC cars to look stunning.
Unlike standard acrylic or lacquer paints used on traditional plastic model kits, Tamiya Lexan spray paints are purpose-engineered to work specifically with polycarbonate body shells, which are standard across most modern RC vehicles in the UK market. Each 100ml can contains precisely the right amount of paint needed to finish one complete polycarbonate RC body, ensuring you have optimal coverage without wastage. These paints are impervious to oil and fuels, making them perfectly safe for use on gas-powered RC bodies as well as electric RC cars, giving you flexibility regardless of your power source preference.
Whether you're a seasoned RC competitor, a weekend basher, or someone just discovering the exciting world of RC hobbies for the first time, this Tamiya paint offers the quality and reliability you'd expect from one of the world's most respected RC and hobby model manufacturers. The fluorescent finish provides outstanding colour depth and durability when applied correctly, ensuring your RC body retains its vibrant appearance through countless hours of racing and recreation.
Key Features
- Specifically formulated for polycarbonate bodies — Unlike general-purpose spray paints, this Tamiya product is developed exclusively for transparent polycarbonate shells used in RC car modelling, ensuring perfect adhesion and colour fidelity on this specialist material.
- 100ml capacity per can — Each spray can contains precisely 100ml of paint, which is the manufacturer-approved amount required to paint one complete polycarbonate RC body shell with proper coverage and finish quality.
- Fluorescent pink colour — The vibrant fluorescent pink shade offers exceptional visibility both indoors and outdoors, making your RC car highly visible during racing events, bashings, or training sessions, whilst also providing outstanding aesthetic appeal.
- Impervious to oil and fuels — This paint formulation is completely resistant to petroleum products and fuel oils, making it safe for use on both electric RC cars and nitro-powered gas RC vehicles without risk of paint degradation or discolouration.
- Applied from inside the body shell — Unlike traditional plastic model painting, Tamiya polycarbonate paints are sprayed from the interior of the body shell, protecting the painted surface from damage and weathering whilst maintaining the transparent effect from the outside.
- Multi-coat capability — The paint is designed to accept multiple coats after curing, allowing you to build up colour intensity and achieve professional competition-grade finishes on your RC body.
- Professional quality results — Manufactured by Tamiya, one of the world's leading RC and hobby model companies, this paint meets stringent quality standards and delivers consistent, professional-looking results every time.
Technical Performance
This Tamiya Lexan Spray Paint represents the pinnacle of specialist polycarbonate body finishing for RC car enthusiasts. The formulation has been carefully engineered to bond perfectly with polycarbonate materials, which are fundamentally different from traditional plastics and require specialist treatment. When spraying your RC body, position the spray can approximately 30cm from the interior surface of the polycarbonate shell and apply in smooth, even strokes. The paint cures to a durable, glossy finish that resists fuel and oil exposure, making it equally suitable for electric RC cars powered by brushless motors and batteries, as well as nitro-powered RC vehicles with fuel-based engines. The fluorescent pink pigmentation provides vibrant colour saturation that remains consistent across multiple coats, allowing you to achieve depth and richness of colour that standard solid paints simply cannot deliver. After the initial coat has cured fully, apply additional coats as necessary to achieve your desired colour intensity and finish quality. The 100ml capacity is scientifically determined to provide sufficient paint for complete body coverage without excessive overspray or waste, making this an economical choice for RC enthusiasts. Whether you're preparing your RC body for club racing, national competitions, or casual weekend bashings, this paint delivers durability and aesthetic quality that will keep your model looking factory-fresh.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I use Tamiya Lexan spray paint on my RC car body? — Yes, absolutely. This paint is specifically formulated for polycarbonate RC car bodies. However, it must never be used on plastic models or non-polycarbonate surfaces, as the chemical formulation is incompatible with standard plastics and may cause damage or poor adhesion.
- Why do you spray from the inside of the RC body shell? — Polycarbonate RC bodies are transparent shells designed to be painted from the interior. This approach protects the painted surface from direct contact with fuel, oil, dirt, and physical abrasion during driving, whilst maintaining the transparent shell's structural integrity and allowing the finished colour to show through the clear plastic.
- Is this paint suitable for nitro-powered RC cars? — Yes, this paint is completely safe for use on both electric RC cars and nitro gas-powered vehicles. The formulation is impervious to oil and fuels, meaning it will not degrade, discolour, or peel when exposed to nitro fuel or engine oils, making it ideal for any powertrain type.
- How many coats do I need for full colour coverage? — Typically, multiple coats are required to achieve vibrant fluorescent pink colour. Start with one coat, allow proper curing time, then apply additional coats as necessary until you achieve your desired colour intensity and finish quality. Most users find 2-3 coats sufficient for professional results.
- What distance should I hold the spray can from the body? — Keep the spray can approximately 30cm from the interior surface of the polycarbonate body shell when spraying. This distance ensures even paint distribution, prevents runs and drips, and achieves the best coverage without waste.
- Can I use this paint on plastic models? — No, never use this paint on plastic models. The formulation is specifically designed for polycarbonate only and will not adhere properly to standard plastic, potentially damaging your model. Always use appropriate plastic model paints for non-polycarbonate surfaces.
- How long does the paint need to cure between coats? — Allow the paint to cure fully between coats, typically 15-30 minutes depending on ambient temperature and humidity conditions. Always ensure complete curing before applying subsequent coats to achieve the best finish quality and colour saturation.
- Is 100ml enough to paint my RC body? — Yes, the 100ml can size is specifically engineered by Tamiya to contain the correct amount of paint needed for one complete polycarbonate RC body shell, providing optimal coverage with minimal waste.
