Overview

The ARRMA Spool Gear, 34T MOD1 8mm Bore is an essential transmission component designed for precision RC tuning on high-performance ARRMA models. This replacement spool gear allows you to fine-tune the gearing of your RC vehicle, making it an invaluable upgrade for enthusiasts looking to optimise performance across different driving conditions. Whether you're running an ARRMA 1/7 Limitless, Infraction, or Felony model, this gear gives you the flexibility to adjust your vehicle's acceleration and top-end speed to suit your driving style and track layout. Available from RC Model Shop, a trusted UK RC retailer, this part is manufactured to ARRMA's exacting standards and represents genuine OEM quality.

For serious RC hobbyists in the UK who demand reliability and precision engineering, ARRMA's transmission components are recognised as industry-leading alternatives to budget aftermarket options. The 34T MOD1 profile sits at a sweet spot in the gearing range, offering balanced performance suitable for street bash driving, speed runs, and competitive track use on 1/7-scale vehicles. This is a standard parts fitment for many current ARRMA brushless RC models, meaning it's a direct, hassle-free replacement that requires no modification to your vehicle.

Built from strong, durable steel rather than inferior plastic or aluminium alternatives, this spool gear is engineered to withstand the extreme stresses of high-powered RC driving. The precision-manufactured tooth profile ensures smooth, efficient power transmission with minimal noise and vibration, while the reinforced set screw holes guarantee a secure fit to your 8mm diameter spool shaft. Order your ARRMA 34T MOD1 Spool Gear today and take control of your vehicle's performance characteristics.

Key Features

  • 34-tooth MOD1 profile — The specific tooth count and MOD1 profile allow fine-tuning of your vehicle's gearing ratio, enabling you to optimise acceleration versus top-end speed depending on your driving conditions, track layout, and driving preferences.
  • Strong and durable steel construction — Unlike plastic or cheaper metal alternatives, this spool gear is manufactured from hardened steel that resists wear, stripping, and fatigue even under the extreme loads generated by high-powered brushless motors and aggressive driving.
  • Precision-manufactured tooth profile — Each tooth is machined to exact tolerances ensuring smooth, quiet engagement with the pinion gear, reducing noise and vibration whilst maximising efficiency and power transfer to the wheels.
  • Precision set screw holes — The reinforced mounting holes are manufactured to tight tolerances to ensure the M4 set screws grip the 8mm bore shaft securely on both sides, preventing any slipping or drift during hard acceleration, braking, or cornering.
  • 8mm bore compatibility — This gear is specifically designed to fit ARRMA vehicles with 8mm diameter transmission shafts, making it a direct replacement for compatible models without any modification required.
  • Includes M4 x 4mm set screw — Everything you need for installation is included in the box, meaning you can upgrade your transmission immediately without hunting for additional hardware.

Technical Performance

The ARRMA Spool Gear, 34T MOD1 8mm Bore represents the pinnacle of transmission engineering for 1/7-scale RC vehicles. The MOD1 tooth profile is a universal standard in RC motorsport, providing consistent meshing characteristics across different pinion gear sizes and configurations. At 34 teeth, this spool gear is ideally suited for balanced performance across the board—it's not too high-geared for maximum speed nor too low-geared for maximum acceleration, making it versatile enough for both street bash driving and competitive track use. The steel construction is critical for durability; ARRMA's choice of material directly reflects the power outputs of modern brushless RC motors, which can exceed 2000 watts in 1/7-scale applications. This material selection ensures the gear can handle repeated high-torque impacts without tooth stripping, cracking, or permanent deformation. The precision manufacturing of both the tooth profile and the bore ensures minimal backlash—the small amount of play between the spool gear and pinion—which translates directly to more responsive steering input, faster acceleration feel, and better overall vehicle control. The set screw holes are reinforced to prevent the M4 fasteners from loosening under vibration, a common failure point on inferior gears. This component is a standard fitment on several current ARRMA models including the 1/7 Limitless 120 8S AVC 4X4, the 1/7 Limitless 6S 4X4, the 1/7 Infraction 6S AVC 4X4, and the 1/7 Felony 6S AVC 4X4, confirming its compatibility across ARRMA's flagship brushless range.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does a spool gear do in an RC vehicle? — The spool gear is a critical component of your vehicle's transmission system. It meshes with the pinion gear (attached to the motor) and transfers rotational power from the motor to the drivetrain axles. The tooth count directly affects your vehicle's gearing ratio: a higher tooth count reduces top speed but increases acceleration, whilst a lower tooth count increases top speed but reduces acceleration. By choosing different spool gears, you can fine-tune your vehicle's performance to match your driving style and track conditions.
  • Why would I need to replace my spool gear? — Spool gears wear over time due to the constant meshing with the pinion gear, especially in high-power brushless vehicles or under heavy use. Stripped or damaged teeth will cause loss of power transmission, noise, and poor vehicle control. Additionally, upgrading to a different tooth count allows you to completely change your vehicle's performance characteristics without purchasing a new vehicle—this is one of the most cost-effective performance tuning options available to RC enthusiasts.
  • Is the ARRMA 34T MOD1 spool gear suitable for beginners? — Whilst this is a genuine ARRMA component suitable for all skill levels, spool gear selection and installation requires basic mechanical knowledge. If you are new to RC and uncomfortable removing your vehicle's transmission cover and installing gears, we recommend seeking assistance from an experienced RC technician or visiting RC Model Shop in person where our expert team can advise you on gear selection and installation.
  • What is MOD1 and why does it matter? — MOD1 (Module 1) refers to the tooth profile standard used in RC gearing. It's a universal specification that ensures compatibility across different manufacturers and gears. The MOD1 profile defines the shape and spacing of the teeth, guaranteeing smooth meshing with any MOD1 pinion gear. This standardisation is essential in RC motorsport, allowing competitors to swap gears without compatibility issues.
  • Which ARRMA models use this 34T MOD1 8mm bore gear? — This gear is a standard fitment for the 1/7 Limitless 120 8S AVC 4X4 RTR, the 1/7 Limitless 6S 4X4 Roller, the 1/7 Limitless 6S 4X4 RTR, the 1/7 Infraction 6S AVC 4X4 RTR, and the 1/7 Felony 6S AVC 4X4 RTR. Check your vehicle's documentation or contact RC Model Shop if you're unsure whether this gear will fit your specific model.
  • Do I need any tools to install this spool gear? — You will need basic RC tools including a small hex key or Allen wrench to fit the M4 set screw, a screwdriver to open your transmission cover, and potentially some small tools to help manipulate the gear during installation. A workbench and good lighting are essential. If you're unfamiliar with transmission service, we recommend consulting your vehicle's manual or seeking professional installation assistance.
