Overview

The Traxxas Driveshaft, Center, 6061-T6 aluminium (Green-anodised) (189mm) TRX6765G is a premium upgrade component designed for RC enthusiasts in the UK who demand high-performance, durable transmission parts. Whether you're piloting a Traxxas Rustler 4X4 HD VXL, Rustler Ultimate VXL 4x4, or another compatible RC model, this centre driveshaft delivers the strength and reliability you need for consistent performance on track or off-road. Formed from aerospace-grade 6061-T6 aluminium alloy, this component represents a significant upgrade over composite alternatives, offering superior durability without compromising on weight. RC car UK enthusiasts recognise that the drivetrain is crucial to vehicle performance, and investing in quality components like this green-anodised driveshaft can transform your driving experience.

This centre driveshaft is engineered to replace worn or damaged factory components, or to upgrade from composite driveshaft assemblies for enhanced performance and longevity. The vivid anodised finish isn't just for looks—it provides corrosion resistance and durability, whilst the laser-etched Traxxas logo adds genuine style to your RC model. At 189mm in length, this component is precisely dimensioned to fit the drive transmission systems of compatible Traxxas models, ensuring perfect fitment and eliminating the play that can develop in worn drivetrain components. For bashers, weekend warriors, and competitive RC car UK drivers alike, upgrading to this aluminium driveshaft is a smart investment in reliability and performance.

Ready to run RC vehicles deserve ready to upgrade components, and the Traxxas driveshaft collection represents some of the most trusted transmission upgrades available in the UK market. Whether you're maintaining your existing model or building a custom setup, this centre driveshaft is an essential part of keeping your RC short course truck, buggy, or truggy performing at its best.

Key Features

  • 6061-T6 Aluminium Construction — This aerospace-grade aluminium alloy provides exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, meaning your driveshaft is robust enough to handle the stresses of high-speed driving whilst remaining lightweight to maintain optimal performance and battery runtime. This material choice is significantly superior to plastic or composite alternatives, which can crack or wear under sustained load.
  • Internal Splines Design — The internal spline mechanism fits directly onto the input shafts of the front and rear drive assemblies, eliminating play and backlash. This precision engineering ensures smooth power transmission, reduces noise during operation, and provides the responsive handling that serious RC enthusiasts demand from their models.
  • Green Anodised Finish — Beyond the vibrant aesthetic appeal, the anodised coating provides corrosion resistance and durability, protecting the aluminium substrate from oxidation and wear. This finish is particularly valuable if you operate your RC vehicle in wet conditions or damp UK climates, extending the service life of the component significantly.
  • Laser-Etched Traxxas Logo — The precision laser-etched branding adds a professional finishing touch whilst serving as permanent identification. Unlike printed logos that fade with use, laser etching is permanent and adds to the overall quality appearance of your RC model's internals.
  • 189mm Centre Shaft Length — This precise 189mm dimension is engineered for exact fitment in compatible Traxxas models, ensuring proper gear mesh, correct drive geometry, and optimal weight distribution. Incorrect driveshaft length can cause misalignment and premature wear, making the correct specification essential.
  • Upgrade Component Option — When upgrading from composite driveshaft assemblies, this component requires the optional 6888X drive hub, allowing you to progressively upgrade your RC model's drivetrain as budget permits. This modularity gives you flexibility in building your perfect setup.

Technical Performance

The Traxxas TRX6765G centre driveshaft represents the pinnacle of drivetrain engineering for compatible 1/10 scale RC vehicles. Machined from 6061-T6 aluminium, a material specification proven in aircraft and high-performance applications, this component offers uncompromising durability and light weight. The internal spline design eliminates the play and backlash that develops in composite shafts under load, providing crisp power delivery and responsive handling that directly translates to improved lap times and control. At 189mm length, this centre driveshaft is precisely engineered for the Traxxas Rustler 4X4 HD VXL range and Rustler Ultimate VXL 4x4 models, delivering perfect fitment and geometry. The green anodised finish provides more than aesthetic appeal—it's an active corrosion barrier that extends component life, particularly valuable for UK RC drivers who often contend with damp conditions. Whether you're operating a brushless RC short course truck at high RPM or demanding precision control during technical terrain sections, this driveshaft provides the structural integrity and responsiveness your vehicle demands. The engineering philosophy here is clear: eliminate unnecessary play, reduce rotating mass where safe to do so, and use materials proven in extreme-duty applications. For competitive drivers and dedicated bashers alike, upgrading to this aluminium centre driveshaft is one of the highest-return modifications available for improving drivetrain reliability and performance longevity.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What models is the Traxxas TRX6765G centre driveshaft compatible with? — This 189mm aluminium centre driveshaft is specifically engineered for Traxxas Rustler 4X4 HD VXL models in blue, orange, green, and red variants, as well as Traxxas Rustler Ultimate VXL 4x4 models in green and blue. If you own a different Traxxas model, please verify compatibility before purchasing as driveshaft length and spline specifications vary significantly across the product range.
  • Is this a direct drop-in replacement for my stock driveshaft? — If your vehicle originally came equipped with an aluminium driveshaft, yes—this is a direct replacement. However, if you're upgrading from a composite driveshaft assembly, you'll need to also purchase the Traxxas 6888X drive hub to ensure proper fitment and function. The 6888X hub adapts the spline interface to work with your existing components.
  • What is 6061-T6 aluminium and why is it used in RC components? — 6061-T6 is an aerospace-grade aluminium alloy that combines exceptional strength with light weight. The T6 designation indicates heat treatment for optimal hardness. This material is chosen for RC driveshafts because it resists fatigue cracking under the repeated stress cycles experienced during acceleration and cornering, whilst remaining substantially lighter than steel alternatives. This strength-to-weight ratio directly improves performance and battery efficiency.
  • Why does my current driveshaft wear out, and how does aluminium help? — Composite driveshafts develop play and backlash as the plastic wears under the continuous torque and impact loads of RC driving. This lost motion reduces handling responsiveness and puts stress on other drivetrain components. Aluminium driveshafts resist this wear process far more effectively, maintaining precision fitment and smooth power transmission over thousands of driving cycles, significantly extending the service life of your entire drive system.
  • Is the green anodised finish purely cosmetic? — Whilst the green colour is undeniably attractive and will match many Traxxas colour schemes, the anodising process itself is functionally crucial. Anodising creates a hard, corrosion-resistant oxide layer on the aluminium surface. This protects against oxidation, rust, and surface wear, extending component lifespan—particularly important if you operate your RC vehicle in humid UK conditions or use it in wet terrain.
  • What does the laser-etched Traxxas logo indicate? — The laser-etched logo serves as permanent branding and authenticity verification. Unlike painted logos that fade, laser etching is permanent and indicates this is a genuine Traxxas component. Counterfeited RC parts are becoming common online, so checking for proper Traxxas branding is important when purchasing upgrade components.
  • How difficult is it to install this driveshaft? — Installation is straightforward for anyone comfortable with basic RC maintenance. The internal splines simply press onto the input shafts of your front and rear drive assemblies. Most RC enthusiasts can complete installation in 10-15 minutes with basic tools. If you're unfamiliar with your vehicle's drivetrain, consult your Traxxas manual or visit RC Model Shop for guidance.
