Technical Performance

The RadioLink R6FG is engineered using industrial-grade components that deliver professional-level reliability in demanding RC environments. Operating on the 2.4GHz ISM band (2400MHz–2483.5MHz), the receiver employs frequency-hopping spread spectrum technology that cycles across 67 different channels in pseudo-random sequences, making it virtually immune to the narrowband interference that can plague traditional fixed-frequency receivers. This technology is the same advanced system found in RadioLink's high-end transmitters such as the AT9S Pro, meaning you get enterprise-class radio performance in a compact receiver package. The receiver consumes just 30 milliamps of operating current, making it extremely efficient and suitable for battery-powered RC applications where power draw matters. With a channel resolution of 4096 steps, the R6FG provides smooth, granular control inputs that translate directly into precise steering and throttle response—essential for competitive racing and professional-level operation. The 12-millisecond latency between transmitter and receiver means that every control input is executed with virtually imperceptible delay, critical when piloting high-speed RC cars on tight tracks or navigating technical courses that demand split-second steering adjustments. The gyro function operates independently and intelligently, automatically adjusting sensitivity to prevent random oscillations from interfering with your steering input, so the stabilisation assistance enhances control rather than fighting against your inputs. The receiver is fully compatible with a comprehensive range of RadioLink surface transmitters including the RC8X, RC6GS V3, RC4GS V3, T8FB(BT), T8S(BT), T16D and T12D, as well as legacy models, ensuring you can integrate this receiver into existing RadioLink setups or choose the transmitter that best matches your needs and budget.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the RadioLink R6FG compatible with my existing RC transmitter? — The R6FG is compatible exclusively with RadioLink transmitters. It works with the RC8X, RC6GS V3, RC4GS V3, RC6GS V2, RC4GS V2, RC6GS, RC4GS, T8FB(BT), T8S(BT), T16D and T12D, as well as other RadioLink surface transmitters. It is not compatible with Spektrum, Futaba or other third-party radio systems, so ensure your transmitter is a RadioLink model before purchasing this receiver.
  • What is the gyro function and how does it help my RC car? — The integrated gyro is a stabilisation system that monitors your vehicle's orientation and automatically applies corrective input to help keep the RC model travelling in a straight line during aggressive acceleration or braking, and prevents unwanted slip and drift on rough or slippery terrain. This is particularly useful on oil tankers and other scale models where directional stability is important, and also helps improve performance during competitive racing when precision control is critical.
  • What is the maximum range of the R6FG receiver? — The RadioLink R6FG offers a control range of up to 400 metres (1312 feet) in unobstructed areas free of interference. Real-world range may vary depending on your environment, surrounding buildings, RF interference sources and antenna positioning, but this receiver is one of the longest-range compact receivers available for RC surface models in the UK market.
  • What voltage battery does this receiver need? — The R6FG accepts power supply from 3V DC to 15V DC, making it compatible with a wide range of battery options including single 2S LiPo cells (7.4V nominal), 3S LiPo packs (11.1V nominal), alkaline battery packs, and other DC power sources commonly used in RC cars and boats. This flexibility means you can power the receiver from your vehicle's existing power system without additional regulators or converters.
  • Is the RadioLink R6FG suitable for beginners? — Yes, the R6FG is suitable for beginning RC enthusiasts, though you will need to pair it with a compatible RadioLink transmitter. The receiver itself is straightforward to install and bind to your transmitter, and the integrated gyro provides stabilisation assistance that helps newer drivers maintain control. However, if you are completely new to RC, consider purchasing a complete RTR (ready-to-run) package that includes transmitter, receiver and vehicle together, which will be easier to set up.
  • How do I bind or sync the receiver to my transmitter? — The exact binding procedure varies by transmitter model. Consult your specific RadioLink transmitter manual for detailed binding instructions. Generally, RadioLink receivers use a simple binding procedure involving the transmitter's bind button and receiver power cycle. RC Model Shop's technical support team can provide guidance if you need assistance with binding or configuration.
  • How small is the R6FG and will it fit in my RC car? — The R6FG measures just 35 × 20 × 13mm and weighs only 6 grammes, making it one of the most compact 6-channel receivers available. This small footprint fits easily into most RC car and boat chassis, including tight-fitting buggy frames and compact touring car bodies. Its lightweight design also minimises impact on your vehicle's weight distribution and performance.
  • What does FHSS and frequency hopping mean? — FHSS (Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) is an advanced radio technology where the receiver and transmitter automatically switch between 67 different frequencies in a pseudo-random pattern thousands of times per second. This makes the signal highly resistant to interference, difficult to intercept, and allows multiple RC models to operate on the same frequency band simultaneously without crosstalk. This technology is especially valuable at competitions and group racing events where dozens of models may be running together.
  • Does the R6FG provide telemetry data? — Yes, the receiver transmits real-time telemetry information back to your transmitter, including RSSI (signal strength) and transmitter battery voltage. This allows you to monitor your signal quality and battery condition whilst operating your RC model, helping you stay within safe operating range and avoid losing connection due to weak batteries.
  • What makes RadioLink receivers different from other brands? — RadioLink receivers are known for industrial-grade build quality, advanced frequency-hopping technology, exceptional range, and low latency. RadioLink has been manufacturing RC equipment for over two decades and is recognised by professional RC racers and hobbyists worldwide for reliability. The R6FG specifically combines all these advantages in a compact package with integrated gyro stabilisation, making it an excellent value option for UK RC enthusiasts.
