Overview
The Traxxas Oil, shock (30 wt, 350 cSt, 60cc) (Silicone) TRX5032 is a premium suspension tuning fluid designed for RC enthusiasts who demand precision performance from their vehicles. Whether you're running an RC car, truck, or buggy across the UK's varied terrain, this specialised silicone shock oil is the perfect solution for fine-tuning your suspension characteristics and unlocking maximum performance from your RC model. Traxxas is recognised globally as a leader in high-quality RC components, and this shock oil represents their commitment to providing racers and weekend bashers alike with the tools they need to dial in their setups perfectly.
This 100% pure silicone shock oil allows you to make precise adjustments to your vehicle's suspension tuning, ensuring consistent and predictable handling no matter where you drive. From competitive racing on the track to high-speed bashing across rough terrain, the ability to adjust your shock oil viscosity is essential for achieving optimal performance. The 30-weight (350 cSt) specification sits in the middle of Traxxas's seven-step viscosity range, making it an ideal starting point or adjustment step for most RC applications. The large 2 fl.oz (60ml) bottle size means you have enough fluid to fill all four shocks on most standard RC models, eliminating the need for multiple purchases and ensuring consistency across all four suspension units.
What sets this product apart is the engineering that goes into every bottle. The cSt (centistoke) viscosity specification ensures that every bottle you purchase delivers consistent performance, so you can trust that your tuning adjustments will be repeatable and reliable. For RC car enthusiasts in the UK looking to improve handling characteristics, reduce body roll, or sharpen cornering response, having the right shock oil viscosity in your toolkit is absolutely essential. This is the genuine Traxxas product, trusted by competitors and serious hobbyists worldwide.
Key Features
- 100% Pure Silicone Oil — The formulation is entirely silicone-based, which provides superior consistency and performance stability compared to mineral oils, ensuring your suspension tuning remains predictable throughout your driving session regardless of temperature changes.
- 30-Weight (350 cSt) Viscosity — This mid-range viscosity option allows for precise suspension tuning, sitting perfectly between lighter and heavier weights to accommodate a wide variety of driving styles and track conditions, making it an excellent choice for versatile RC setups.
- Seven-Step Viscosity Range Available — Traxxas offers this shock oil in seven different viscosities ranging from 200cSt (20-weight) through to 1000cSt (80-weight), allowing you to fine-tune your suspension with incredible precision and explore the full range of handling characteristics for your specific RC model.
- Precision-Pour Twist-Nozzle Cap — The innovative twist-nozzle cap design makes filling shock bodies quick, easy and mess-free, eliminating the frustration of spilled fluid and allowing you to focus on tuning rather than cleanup—a genuinely useful feature that serious RC racers appreciate.
- Large 2 fl.oz (60ml) Bottle Size — With enough fluid to fill all four shock bodies on most RC models in a single bottle, you avoid the expense and inconvenience of purchasing multiple smaller bottles, whilst ensuring perfect consistency across your entire suspension setup.
- Consistent cSt Specification — Every bottle is manufactured to precise viscosity standards, guaranteeing that your suspension tuning will remain consistent from bottle to bottle and allowing you to replicate your ideal setup reliably across multiple RC sessions.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas TRX5032 shock oil is engineered for serious RC performance tuning. At 350 cSt (30-weight), this fluid strikes an excellent balance for most RC vehicles, providing adequate damping for controlled suspension movement whilst maintaining responsive handling. The 100% silicone formulation is superior to conventional mineral oils because it maintains consistent viscosity across a wider temperature range, meaning your suspension behaviour remains predictable whether you're driving in cooler UK weather or during warmer sessions. Silicone oil also resists oxidation better than mineral alternatives, helping to maintain performance consistency throughout extended use. The precision-pour design of the twist-nozzle cap is not merely a convenience feature—it's essential engineering that prevents cross-contamination between different viscosity weights and reduces the risk of spilling valuable tuning fluid during the filling process. For RC builders and racers who understand that suspension tuning is just as important as motor selection or battery choice, having access to multiple viscosity options allows for comprehensive setup experimentation. The 60ml volume is calculated to perfectly fill all four shock bodies on standard 1/10-scale RC models with minimal waste, making this an economical and practical choice for serious hobbyists.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What viscosity shock oil should I use for my RC car? — Viscosity selection depends on your vehicle type, track conditions and driving style. The 30-weight (350 cSt) option is a versatile mid-range choice that works well for most RC applications. Lighter oils (20-weight) provide softer suspension and faster response, whilst heavier oils (40-weight through 80-weight) add more resistance and support for jumps and aggressive driving. Start with 30-weight and adjust based on your vehicle's behaviour.
- Is silicone shock oil better than mineral oil? — Yes, silicone oil is superior for precision RC tuning. It maintains consistent viscosity across a wider temperature range, resists oxidation better, and provides more predictable performance. Silicone oil is the industry standard for competitive RC racing and serious enthusiasts because of these performance advantages, making it worth the investment over cheaper mineral alternatives.
- How much shock oil does my RC model need? — Most standard 1/10-scale RC vehicles require approximately 15ml per shock body, meaning the 60ml bottle provides enough fluid to fill all four shocks completely. Always check your specific vehicle's manual for exact capacity requirements, as different models may vary slightly.
- Can I mix different viscosity weights? — Whilst it's technically possible, it's not recommended for consistent tuning. Mixing viscosities will create unpredictable damping characteristics and make it impossible to precisely replicate your setup. It's better to completely drain and refill with a new viscosity weight when making suspension adjustments.
- What is the difference between 30-weight and other Traxxas shock oil options? — Traxxas offers seven viscosity options from 20-weight (200cSt, lightest) to 80-weight (1000cSt, heaviest). Lower weights provide softer suspension response and faster recovery, ideal for smooth tracks. Higher weights provide stiffer suspension and better support for jumps and rough terrain. The 30-weight sits in the middle, offering balanced performance for versatile driving conditions across the UK.
- Is this product suitable for all RC vehicles? — The Traxxas TRX5032 is designed for standard RC shock absorbers and works with most 1/10-scale RC cars, buggies, trucks and short-course vehicles. However, always verify your specific model's shock compatibility and capacity requirements in the vehicle manual before purchasing.
- Why is cSt specification important? — The cSt (centistoke) rating is the international standard for measuring oil viscosity at a specific temperature. Traxxas specifies cSt rather than just weight because it's more precise and ensures consistent performance from bottle to bottle, allowing you to replicate your ideal suspension tuning reliably.
