Overview

The ARRMA Pinion Gear 22T 0.5 MOD CNC 2.3mm Bore is an essential replacement component for RC enthusiasts running ARRMA's popular small-scale models. Whether you're a dedicated RC car UK collector or a weekend basher pushing your machine to its limits, pinion gears are critical wear items that need regular replacement. This tough steel pinion gear is precision-engineered to deliver smooth, reliable power transfer from your motor to the main transmission system, making it perfect for maintaining peak performance in your ready to run RC buggy or truck.

As an authorised ARRMA dealer, RC Model Shop stocks genuine OEM replacement parts that ensure your RC model continues to perform exactly as the manufacturer intended. The 22-tooth configuration offers a balanced approach to gearing, providing good acceleration and responsiveness without sacrificing top-end speed. This pinion gear is specifically designed for small-scale brushed electric RC vehicles, including the MOJAVE GROM MEGA 380 series and TYPHON GROM MEGA 380 models, making it an indispensable part to keep in your spares kit.

Built to withstand extreme RC conditions, this replacement gear comes complete with the M3 x 4mm set screw needed for secure installation on your 2.3mm motor shaft. Whether you're racing competitively or just enjoying casual bashing sessions, having quality replacement pinion gears on hand means minimal downtime and maximum fun behind the sticks.

Key Features

  • Strong and Durable Steel Construction — Manufactured from hardened steel rather than softer aluminium or plastic alternatives, this pinion gear resists stripping, cracking and wear during intense RC driving conditions. Steel gears maintain their tooth profile longer, ensuring consistent power delivery and smooth operation over extended periods of use.
  • Precision CNC Manufactured Tooth Profile — Every tooth is machined to exact specifications using CNC technology, guaranteeing smooth, quiet meshing with your spur gear and eliminating the vibration and noise that can result from uneven or poorly cut teeth. This precision engineering directly translates to better performance and reduced strain on your motor and drivetrain components.
  • Precision Manufactured Set Screw Hole — The hole for the securing set screw is drilled with precision to ensure a perfect fit that prevents the gear from slipping on your motor shaft during aggressive acceleration and cornering, which is critical for reliable, predictable RC performance.
  • 2.3mm Motor Shaft Compatibility — Specifically designed for the 2.3mm motor shaft found in ARRMA's small-scale RTR and race kit models, this gear ensures a secure, wobble-free fit without requiring modification or adapters.
  • Complete Installation Package — Comes with the essential M3 x 4mm set screw required for installation, eliminating the need to source additional hardware and getting you back on the track or field immediately.

Technical Performance

This 22-tooth pinion gear operates at MOD 0.5 (0.5 Module), a standard gear specification that ensures compatibility with the matching spur gears found on ARRMA's small-scale brushed electric vehicles. The MOD 0.5 specification defines the tooth pitch and is essential for proper meshing and power transmission. The gear's CNC-manufactured tooth profile ensures minimal backlash and vibration, resulting in smoother acceleration, more efficient power delivery, and reduced wear on associated drivetrain components compared to lower-quality aftermarket alternatives. Built from hardened steel, this pinion gear withstands the demands of high-speed runs, hard cornering, and the occasional impact that comes with real-world RC car UK usage. The precision engineering means the gear maintains its shape and tooth profile even under sustained high-load conditions, making it ideal for both casual bashers and competitive racers who demand reliability. Regular replacement of pinion gears is a fundamental part of RC maintenance, and keeping genuine ARRMA spares ensures your model continues to perform at factory specifications.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is this the right pinion gear for my ARRMA model? — This 22T MOD 0.5 gear is compatible with multiple ARRMA small-scale models including the MOJAVE GROM MEGA 380 (available in Blue and Red RTR versions) and the TYPHON GROM MEGA 380 (available in Blue/Silver and Red/White RTR versions). Check your model designation against the compatible models listed; if your model matches, this is the correct replacement gear for your 2.3mm motor shaft.
  • How often should I replace my pinion gear? — Pinion gear replacement frequency depends on your driving style and conditions. Regular bashers should inspect their pinion gear every 4-6 weeks and replace it if teeth show signs of wear, chipping, or dulling. Competitive RC racers may need to replace pinion gears more frequently. Always keep a spare in your pit bag.
  • Can I use a different tooth count pinion gear for higher or lower speed? — Yes, pinion gear tooth count directly affects your gearing ratio. A smaller tooth count (like 21T) increases acceleration and reduces top speed, whilst a larger tooth count (like 23T or 24T) reduces acceleration but increases top speed. Only use MOD 0.5 gears designed for 2.3mm shafts, and ensure your chosen tooth count matches ARRMA's recommendations for your specific model to avoid excessive motor strain.
  • What is MOD 0.5 and why does it matter? — MOD (Module) is a gear specification that defines the tooth size and pitch. MOD 0.5 is the standard specification for small-scale RC cars like your ARRMA GROM models. Using a gear with a different MOD rating will result in improper meshing with your spur gear, causing noise, inefficiency, and rapid wear. Always replace with MOD 0.5 pinion gears for your ARRMA model.
  • Do I need any special tools to install this pinion gear? — Installation requires only a small hex key or Allen wrench to tighten the M3 set screw provided. Simply slide the gear onto your motor shaft and tighten the set screw securely. Most RC enthusiasts can complete installation in under a minute without specialised equipment.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — Yes, this is an excellent product for RC beginners to keep on hand as a spare. Pinion gear replacement is one of the most straightforward maintenance tasks in RC and teaches valuable spares management. Purchase this gear alongside your ARRMA ready to run RC model and you'll be prepared when the original gear eventually wears out.
