Overview
The Traxxas Mount, steering arm / steering stops (2 pcs) (lower hinge pin retainer) (includes standard and maximum throw steering stops) TRX5343X is an essential steering system component designed for Traxxas drag racing vehicles, particularly the Drag Slash. This replacement part pack provides the critical steering geometry adjustments needed to maintain straight-line stability and precise steering control during high-performance drag racing operations. Whether you're a competitive drag racer looking to dial in your setup or a serious RC enthusiast maintaining your Traxxas drag racing platform, this steering mount assembly offers the precision engineering required to achieve consistent, straight launches down the strip.
Steering control is paramount in drag racing, where even the slightest deviation from a straight line can cost you valuable tenths of a second and ultimately races. The Traxxas steering arm and steering stops work together to establish the correct toe angle and steering throw parameters, allowing you to fine-tune your drag racing vehicle for maximum efficiency and straight-line performance. This two-piece set includes both standard and maximum throw steering stops, giving you multiple setup options to match your driving style and track conditions. For UK RC car enthusiasts engaged in competitive drag racing, this Traxxas steering component is a critical tuning part that should be in your spares box.
Traxxas has engineered the Drag Slash to be fully adjustable from bumper to wheelie bar, and this steering mount assembly is part of that comprehensive tuning philosophy. The factory setup comes dialled in for straight-line performance, but as your vehicle accrues track time and steering parts wear in, or if you experience track mishaps, you may need to readjust your steering geometry. Having quality replacement steering arms and stops ensures you can maintain factory-precision steering setup whenever needed, keeping your drag racing vehicle performing at its absolute best.
Key Features
- Two-piece steering arm set — This pack includes a complete two-piece steering arm assembly, which is essential for establishing proper steering geometry and maintaining consistent straight-line performance through every launch.
- Standard and maximum throw steering stops included — The inclusion of both standard and maximum throw steering stops gives you flexibility in tuning your steering response, allowing you to choose the setting that best matches your driving technique and track conditions for optimal control during drag racing.
- Lower hinge pin retainer design — The lower hinge pin retainer component ensures stable attachment of the steering system to the chassis, maintaining precise steering geometry alignment even under the extreme loads experienced during full-power acceleration and weight transfer.
- Factory-engineered precision — These components are designed and manufactured to Traxxas specifications, ensuring perfect compatibility with Drag Slash vehicles and maintaining the exact steering geometry parameters that Traxxas engineers have optimised for drag racing performance.
- Wear-in replacement capability — As steering parts wear in over multiple track sessions, or if you experience crashes and mishaps on the strip, these replacement components allow you to restore your vehicle to factory specifications and maintain consistent setup from session to session.
- Critical for straight-line tuning — Proper steering arm geometry directly impacts toe angle settings, which Traxxas drag racing guides confirm is essential for maintaining straight launches without requiring steering input that wastes forward momentum and costs you race time.
Technical Performance
The Traxxas steering arm and steering stops assembly represents the engineering foundation of precise drag racing steering geometry. These components work in conjunction with the turnbuckle-adjustable steering system to establish and maintain the toe angle of your drag racing vehicle. Traxxas engineers have designed the Drag Slash with factory zero-degree toe angle on the front wheels, meaning the wheels are perfectly parallel and point straight ahead, rather than angling slightly in or out. However, the tolerances inherent in any mechanical system mean that slight play exists in the steering components, and as parts wear in during track sessions, adjustment via the steering turnbuckles becomes necessary. The steering arms provide the structural foundation for these adjustments, while the included standard and maximum throw steering stops limit the range of steering input, allowing you to dial out unnecessary steering travel that only adds drag and reduces straight-line efficiency. The lower hinge pin retainer ensures that these steering components remain securely attached to the chassis under the intense acceleration forces experienced during drag racing launches, where weight transfer and suspension dynamics place significant demands on every part of the vehicle structure. By maintaining factory-precision steering geometry through the use of quality replacement components like this steering arm assembly, you ensure that your drag racing vehicle remains optimised for the fastest possible elapsed times and the straightest possible launches.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Why would I need a replacement Traxxas steering arm assembly for my Drag Slash? — As your Drag Slash accrues track time and steering parts wear in, or following track mishaps and crashes, the steering geometry may require readjustment or component replacement to restore factory precision. Having quality replacement steering arms ensures you can maintain optimal steering setup whenever needed, keeping your drag racing vehicle dialled in for maximum performance at the strip.
- What is the difference between standard and maximum throw steering stops? — The standard throw steering stops limit steering input to a moderate range, whilst maximum throw steering stops allow for a wider range of steering travel. Choosing between them depends on your driving style and track conditions. The standard setting is recommended for most drag racing applications where straight-line stability is paramount, but maximum throw stops offer more steering correction range if needed for your specific driving technique.
- How do steering arm geometry and toe angle affect my Drag Slash's performance? — Traxxas engineering guides confirm that precise toe angle setup is critical for straight-line drag racing performance. The factory zero-degree toe setting on the Drag Slash is optimised for straight launches, but small adjustments via the steering turnbuckles may be needed as parts wear in. Even slight changes in steering geometry can impact whether your vehicle launches perfectly straight or pulls to one side, affecting both elapsed times and race wins. Proper steering arm geometry ensures these adjustments remain precise and effective.
- Are these steering arms compatible with all Traxxas Drag Slash models? — These components are specifically engineered for Traxxas Drag Slash vehicles. Always verify compatibility with your specific model and check current Traxxas documentation before purchase to ensure proper fitment with your particular drag racing platform.
- What tools do I need to install the steering arm assembly? — Installation of steering components typically requires basic RC tools, with Traxxas providing a turnbuckle wrench for steering geometry adjustments. Refer to your Drag Slash assembly guide for specific installation instructions and any additional tools or skills required for proper fitment.
