Overview

The Hobbywing LED Program Card is an essential tool for anyone serious about getting the most out of their brushless RC electric vehicles. Whether you're running a high-performance brushless RC car, aircraft, or boat, this compact programmer makes ESC configuration faster, easier and more intuitive than ever before. Instead of counting LED flashes to adjust settings—a frustrating and error-prone process—the LED Program Card gives you instant visual feedback with a user-friendly interface that makes complex ESC programming straightforward and quick. It's the perfect addition to any RC enthusiast's toolkit, whether you're a seasoned competitor fine-tuning your brushless motor setup or a UK hobbyist discovering the advantages of brushless RC technology for the first time.

This is a genuine Hobbywing product (Part Number HW30501003) that works across a huge range of Hobbywing brushless ESC products, making it one of the most versatile programmers available in the UK RC market. The compact, portable design means you can take it to the track, to the field, or to the water for real-time configuration adjustments. At just 40 grams and measuring 88x58x14mm, it fits easily in any RC kit bag. If you're running any Hobbywing brushless ESC—whether that's the popular XeRun series for RC cars, the Platinum or FlyFun series for aircraft, or the SeaKing series for brushless boats—this LED programmer will transform how you manage your ESC settings.

The LED Program Card eliminates the guesswork from ESC tuning and programming. Instead of trying to interpret complex flash patterns, the intuitive LED interface displays your settings clearly and allows you to cycle through options quickly. This means you spend less time fumbling with settings and more time enjoying your RC vehicles. It's genuinely one of the best investments you can make if you own multiple brushless RC models or plan to experiment with different ESC configurations.

Key Features

  • Intuitive LED Interface — The friendly LED display system makes ESC programming straightforward and accessible, eliminating the need to count confusing flash patterns or interpret complex sequences. This visual feedback system is far superior to traditional counting methods and reduces programming errors significantly.
  • Compact and Portable Design — Measuring just 88x58x14mm and weighing only 40 grams, this programmer is small enough to fit in any RC tool bag, making it ideal for field use at racing events, flying fields, or off-road tracks. Its lightweight construction means it won't add bulk to your RC kit.
  • Universal Hobbywing Compatibility — This single programmer works with an exceptionally wide range of Hobbywing brushless ESC products, covering aircraft, car, and boat platforms. Rather than buying separate programmers for different vehicle types, one LED Program Card handles them all.
  • Works with Platinum, FlyFun and SkyWalker Aircraft ESCs — If you're running Hobbywing brushless aircraft ESCs, this programmer supports the Platinum V1/V2 series, FlyFun V5, and SkyWalker V2 series, giving you full control over your aerial RC models.
  • Compatible with XeRun, EzRun and QuicRun Car ESCs — For RC car enthusiasts, the LED Program Card supports the entire range of Hobbywing car ESCs, including most XeRun models, the full EzRun series, and the complete QuicRun lineup. This covers everything from high-performance racing ESCs to crawler and scale models.
  • SeaKing Boat ESC Support — Brushless RC boat builders can take advantage of full programming control for SeaKing series ESCs, allowing precise tuning of water-cooled brushless motors.
  • Low Power Input Requirement — Operating on just 4.8V to 8.4V, the programmer is compatible with standard RC batteries. For ESCs without a built-in or external BEC (Battery Elimination Circuit), you simply connect a separate 6.0V battery to power the programmer independently.
  • 3-Wire Connection System — The included male-to-male 3-wire plug connects directly to your ESC, providing a simple, standardised interface that works across all compatible Hobbywing products without complicated adapters or modifications.
  • No Computer Required — Unlike software-based programmers that require USB connections and computer drivers, this LED programmer is completely standalone. Power it up, connect it to your ESC, and start programming immediately—perfect for field use where computers aren't practical.

Technical Performance

The Hobbywing LED Program Card represents years of brushless RC engineering expertise built into a genuinely useful tool. Its solid construction and robust electronics are engineered to handle the demands of real-world RC use, whether you're programming high-current race ESCs or delicate aircraft controllers. The LED display technology provides instant, unambiguous feedback on every setting change, eliminating the frustration of misinterpreting flash sequences. The device operates across a 4.8V to 8.4V input range, covering standard 2S LiPo battery voltages and traditional NiMH packs, making it compatible with almost any battery system you might already own. At just 40 grams, it's negligible weight in your RC kit, yet it delivers professional-grade programming capabilities. The compact 88x58x14mm form factor has been engineered for portability without compromising functionality, and the quality of the male-to-male 3-wire connector ensures reliable contact every time. Whether you're tuning a 1/10 scale race truck, a delicate foam-wing aircraft with brushless power, or a high-speed brushless catamaran, this programmer delivers consistent, reliable performance. The engineering allows for fast programming cycles, so you can make adjustments and test them immediately, a critical advantage when optimising your RC setup at the track or field.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is the Hobbywing LED Program Card compatible with my ESC? — This programmer works with a very wide range of Hobbywing brushless ESCs, including Platinum V1/V2 series, FlyFun V5, SkyWalker V2 series (aircraft), XeRun series, EzRun series, QuicRun series (car), and SeaKing series (boat). Check your specific ESC model against these ranges, as some XeRun variants may have different compatibility. Please consult your ESC manual for confirmation if you're unsure. Note that this programmer is not compatible with the XR8 Plus.
  • Can I use this programmer for beginners, or is it too complex? — The Hobbywing LED Program Card is genuinely beginner-friendly. The entire point of the LED interface is to make programming simple and intuitive, eliminating the need to count confusing flash patterns. If you can read LED indicators and follow the instruction manual, you can program your Hobbywing ESC successfully. Many users report that programming is far easier with this card than with other methods.
  • What battery do I need to use this programmer? — The LED Program Card requires 4.8V to 8.4V input, which covers standard 2S LiPo batteries, 6V NiMH batteries, and other similar voltage sources. However, it's important to note that if your ESC does not have a built-in BEC or external BEC output, you will need to use a separate 6.0V battery to power the programmer independently while it's connected to your ESC. If your ESC has BEC, it can often power the programmer directly through the ESC connection.
  • Can I use this programmer with brushed ESCs? — The primary design is for brushless ESCs, and the official documentation states it is for brushless motors. However, some users have reported success using it with certain brushed QuicRun models like the 1080 G2. For brushed ESCs, you would connect it as normal, but you may not receive the full documentation sticker. We recommend checking your specific brushed ESC's manual or consulting Hobbywing directly to confirm compatibility before purchasing.
  • Is this programmer better than counting LED flashes? — Absolutely. The LED Program Card provides clear, visual feedback that eliminates the frustration and error-prone nature of counting flash sequences. Most users report that programming is significantly faster and more reliable with this device. It's also far more practical for field use where you might not have time to stand around counting flashes. Many RC enthusiasts consider it a worthwhile investment that pays for itself in convenience.
  • Can I use this with multiple ESC models? — Yes, one of the greatest advantages of the Hobbywing LED Program Card is its broad compatibility across the entire Hobbywing brushless ESC range. You can use the same programmer for your race car ESCs, your aircraft controllers, and your boat motors. This versatility makes it excellent value if you run multiple brushless RC vehicles.
  • Is a separate battery always required? — Not always. If your ESC has a built-in BEC or an external BEC output connected, the programmer can draw power through the ESC connection. However, if your ESC lacks BEC entirely (which is common on high-performance racing models), you will need to connect a separate 6.0V battery to the programmer independently while it's programming the ESC. Always check your specific ESC specifications.
  • What makes this better than a WiFi programmer? — The LED Program Card is simpler, more reliable, and more affordable than WiFi programmers. It requires no computer, no software installation, no USB cables, and no compatibility worries. It works immediately in any environment, including outdoors at the track or field. While WiFi programmers offer some advantages, many experienced RC users prefer the straightforward, field-proven reliability of the LED card system.
