Overview
The Fastrax Fast Finish Spa Silver Spray Paint 150ml is a premium aerosol paint specifically engineered for polycarbonate (lexan) RC car bodies. Whether you're building a competition-grade RC buggy, preparing your RC drift car for the track, or customising your 1/10th or 1/12th scale RC model car in the UK, this specialist paint delivers a stunning metallic finish whilst maintaining the durability and flexibility required for intensive model car use. Fast Finish paints are the choice of serious RC enthusiasts who demand both aesthetic excellence and practical performance.
What sets Fastrax Fast Finish apart from standard RC paints is its revolutionary formula, specifically blended to work with the unique properties of flexible polycarbonate bodyshells. Unlike generic spray paints, Fast Finish is fuel resistant, making it an ideal choice for nitro-powered RC cars as well as electric models. This specialist paint has been developed through years of RC racing experience to ensure it withstands the rigours of competitive and recreational model car use, whether you're bashing in the garden or competing at your local RC track.
The Spa Silver variant is part of the Classic range, offering a beautiful metallic silver finish that catches the light beautifully whilst maintaining excellent colour vibrancy. Available in a convenient 150ml spray can, this paint is ready to use straight from the tin and provides excellent coverage for most polycarbonate bodyshells used across popular RC car scales and types.
Key Features
- Specialised Polycarbonate Formula — Unlike standard spray paints, Fast Finish is specifically engineered to bond with flexible polycarbonate (lexan) bodyshells, ensuring the paint flexes with the body rather than cracking or peeling during impact or collision. This means your paint job will maintain its appearance through the bumps and scrapes of regular RC car use.
- Fuel Resistant Paint — Fast Finish is fuel resistant, making it perfectly suited for nitro-powered RC cars as well as electric models. This resistance to fuel ensures the paint won't deteriorate when exposed to nitro fuel vapours or spills, a critical consideration for serious nitro RC enthusiasts in the UK.
- Lightweight Formula — A genuinely overlooked advantage of Fast Finish is its weight characteristics. When compared to standard lexan paints, a Fast Finish painted bodyshell is typically 10-12g lighter, which is a significant advantage for 1/10th and 1/12th scale RC cars where every gram affects performance, acceleration, and handling. This weight saving can be the difference between winning and losing on the track.
- Metallic Spa Silver Finish — The Spa Silver colour is a sophisticated metallic finish from the Classic range, offering a premium appearance with excellent colour depth and reflectivity. This metallic finish is part of the standard colour palette alongside other classics like white, red, black and graphite.
- Three Finish Options Available — The Fast Finish range encompasses three distinct finish types: Classic (standard and metallic colours including Spa Silver), Neon (ultra-bright fluorescent colours for maximum track visibility), and Special FX (custom finishes including Starburst Silver metalflake, Pearl White, and Chameleon paints). This gives RC car builders complete creative freedom when customising their models.
- 150ml Capacity — The 150ml spray can provides sufficient coverage for most polycarbonate RC car bodyshells, delivering professional results without waste. The aerosol format ensures even, consistent application without requiring additional equipment or mixing.
- Professional Quality Finish — Designed to deliver not only a superb, dynamic colour finish but also to withstand the rigours of model car use. This is paint engineered by RC enthusiasts for RC enthusiasts, tested and proven in competitive RC racing environments.
Technical Performance
Fastrax Fast Finish Spa Silver spray paint represents the culmination of specialist paint chemistry tailored specifically for RC model car applications. The fundamental challenge with polycarbonate bodyshells is their inherent flexibility and durability — whilst these properties make lexan ideal for protecting delicate RC car internals from crashes, they create unique demands for paint adhesion and flexibility. Standard spray paints simply cannot cope with the constant flexing and impact of polycarbonate bodies during RC car operation. Fast Finish solves this through a specially formulated blend that maintains the paint's flexibility whilst delivering superior adhesion and colour retention. The Spa Silver variant offers a rich metallic finish with excellent colour depth and light-reflective properties, making it ideal for both recreational bashers and competitive RC racers. The fuel-resistant properties ensure compatibility with all fuel types used in RC cars, from electric LiPo battery systems to nitro fuel engines. The 150ml volume is sized appropriately for standard 1/10th scale RC buggy, truck and car bodies, with coverage typically sufficient for complete bodyshell coverage including layered applications for more vibrant results. The aerosol delivery system ensures even pressure distribution and professional-quality spray patterns without requiring airbrush equipment or compressors, making it accessible to RC hobbyists of all skill levels throughout the UK.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is Fastrax Fast Finish Spa Silver suitable for all RC car types? — Yes, this paint is specifically designed for polycarbonate bodyshells used across all RC car scales including 1/10th, 1/12th and other popular sizes. Whether you're painting a 1/10th scale RC buggy, RC monster truck, RC drift car, or RC stadium truck, the specialist polycarbonate formula ensures excellent adhesion and flexibility. The paint is compatible with both electric RC cars and nitro-powered models, making it versatile for the entire RC racing and bashing community in the UK.
- Will this paint make my RC car body heavier? — No, quite the opposite. Fast Finish is engineered to be lighter than standard lexan paints. In fact, a painted bodyshell using Fast Finish typically weighs 10-12g less than one painted with normal lexan paints. This weight saving is particularly beneficial for 1/10th and 1/12th scale RC cars where weight significantly impacts acceleration, top speed, and overall handling characteristics, potentially giving you a competitive advantage on the track.
- Is Fast Finish Spa Silver compatible with nitro-powered RC cars? — Yes, absolutely. One of the key benefits of Fast Finish paint is its fuel-resistant formula, making it ideal for nitro RC cars. The paint won't deteriorate when exposed to nitro fuel vapours or incidental spills, ensuring your paint job maintains its appearance and integrity throughout the season. This fuel resistance is a standard feature across the entire Fast Finish range.
- Can I use standard spray paint on my polycarbonate RC body instead? — Whilst you technically could, Fast Finish is specifically formulated for polycarbonate and will deliver significantly better results. Standard paints often crack and peel on flexible polycarbonate bodies because they don't flex with the material during impacts and vibration. Fast Finish is specially blended to move with the bodyshell, maintaining colour integrity and finish quality even during intensive RC car use. The specialist formula is worth the investment for lasting results.
- What finish is Spa Silver — is it metallic or solid? — Spa Silver is a metallic finish from the Classic range, offering a sophisticated silver colour with light-reflective properties that give depth and visual interest to your RC bodyshell. The metallic finish catches light beautifully whilst maintaining excellent colour vibrancy, making it an attractive choice for both recreational and competitive RC car builds.
- How much coverage does 150ml of paint provide? — The 150ml volume is sized for standard polycarbonate RC car bodyshells, providing sufficient coverage for complete bodyshell application. Coverage depends on application technique and desired colour intensity, but 150ml typically covers one bodyshell with good colour saturation. If you prefer deeper, more vibrant colour, you may wish to apply multiple coats, in which case you might consider purchasing additional cans.
- Is Fast Finish available in other colours and finishes? — Yes, Fast Finish offers an extensive range across three distinct finish categories: Classic (standard colours like white, red, black and metallic options including Spa Silver and Graphite), Neon (ultra-bright fluorescent colours for maximum track visibility), and Special FX (custom finishes including Starburst Silver metalflake with large metalflake particles for a coarse metallic effect, Pearl White with a finer sparkle effect, and Chameleon paints that change colour depending on viewing angle, such as Jade which shifts between yellow-gold and deep green). This variety allows RC enthusiasts to create unique and personalised bodyshell designs.
- Can I apply Fast Finish over primer or base coat? — The paint is designed to work directly on clean polycarbonate, though some RC builders prefer applying a primer base coat for enhanced colour saturation. If you choose to use a primer, ensure it is compatible with polycarbonate and fast-drying. Always allow adequate drying time between coats.
