Overview

The FTX Button Head Hex Screw M3*8 is an essential replacement component for RC car enthusiasts across the UK who demand reliability and precision in their builds. These high-quality fasteners are specifically engineered to meet the exacting standards of FTX RC vehicles, making them a perfect choice for anyone maintaining a brushed or brushless RC car. Whether you're a seasoned RC hobbyist working on a ready to run RC car or someone just getting started in the world of radio-controlled vehicles, having spare fasteners on hand is crucial for keeping your RC machine in perfect working condition.

FTX has established itself as a trusted manufacturer of affordable yet durable RC components, and these button head hex screws exemplify their commitment to quality. The M3*8 specification makes these screws particularly versatile within the FTX range, finding application across numerous models and platforms. This six-piece pack ensures you have multiple replacements available, whether you've lost a screw during maintenance or need spares for your next RC adventure. RC car UK enthusiasts know that small components like these often get misplaced during off-road bashing sessions, so keeping a spare pack in your toolkit is simply sensible planning.

Button head screws offer distinct advantages over traditional countersunk fasteners in RC applications. The rounded head design provides a professional appearance while delivering secure fastening without requiring the screw head to sit flush with the surface. This makes them ideal for applications where component accessibility and ease of assembly matter. For anyone serious about maintaining their RC collection, investing in genuine FTX spare parts like these button head hex screws is the smart approach to ensuring longevity and reliable performance.

Key Features

  • M3 Thread Size — The M3 metric thread specification ensures perfect compatibility with FTX RC platforms and provides reliable engagement without stripping or binding during assembly and disassembly cycles.
  • 8mm Length — This length measurement is precisely engineered to suit common FTX RC car applications, offering sufficient thread engagement whilst avoiding over-tightening or component interference.
  • Button Head Design — The distinctive rounded button head provides superior aesthetics compared to flat-head screws, whilst the raised profile offers better hand clearance during installation and removal, making maintenance work quicker and easier.
  • Hex Socket Driver — The hexagonal socket accepts standard hex drivers, providing multiple contact points that distribute force evenly and reduce the risk of stripping the screw head during use, which is critical in demanding RC environments.
  • Black Finish — The black colour finish not only matches the appearance of genuine FTX components but also provides subtle corrosion protection, helping screws maintain their integrity through dusty off-road conditions and outdoor bashing sessions.
  • Machine Thread Specification — The machine thread design ensures consistent, reliable fastening across multiple assembly and disassembly cycles without degradation, perfect for the rigorous demands of competitive RC racing and recreational bashers alike.
  • Six-Piece Pack — Having six screws means you can tackle multiple repairs at once or keep multiple spares in your pit box, ensuring you're never caught short during critical moments at the track or trail.

Technical Performance

These FTX Button Head Hex Screws represent the engineering standards you'd expect from a manufacturer committed to supporting the RC car UK community. The M3*8 specification has been carefully selected based on extensive application across FTX's diverse vehicle range, from the nimble Banzai drift car through to the rock-crawling Hi-Rock platforms. The button head design eliminates the need for countersunk holes, simplifying component design whilst maintaining elegant aesthetics. The hex socket driver, sometimes called an Allen key socket, provides superior grip compared to Phillips or straight-slot drives, significantly reducing the likelihood of stripping in the field. The black finish provides subtle corrosion resistance, an important consideration when your RC car experiences wet grass, muddy terrain, or coastal environments. These are genuine FTX components manufactured to the same exacting specifications used in OEM applications, meaning you're getting exactly the same fastening solution found in production vehicles.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What FTX RC cars are these button head screws compatible with? — These M3*8 button head hex screws are compatible with numerous FTX models including the FTX Banzai 1/10th scale 4WD RTR brushed electric street drift car (available in both green and red variants), the FTX Carnage NT 1/10th RTR 4WD nitro truck, the FTX Outlaw 1/10 4WD ultra-4 RTR buggy (both brushed and brushless versions), the FTX Zorro trophy truck (available in both brushed blue and brushless orange finishes), and the FTX 1/10 touring and drift car roller chassis. If you own any FTX ready to run RC car in the modern range, these screws are likely to be compatible.
  • Why would I need replacement button head screws for my RC car? — During regular maintenance, assembly, disassembly, and field use of your RC car, screws can become lost, damaged, or stripped. This is particularly common in demanding off-road bashing where vehicles experience rough terrain, impacts, and continuous vibration. These FTX button head hex screws are commonly used throughout the chassis, electronics mounts, and body fixing points, making them prone to occasional loss. Having spare genuine screws ensures you can complete repairs quickly without waiting for delivery or risking incompatible fasteners from generic suppliers.
  • How do button head hex screws differ from other screw types? — Button head hex screws feature a rounded, domed head that sits proud of the surface, combined with a hexagonal socket that accepts Allen keys or hex drivers. This differs from countersunk screws which sit flush, Phillips screws which have a cross-slot, and slotted screws which have a straight groove. The button head design offers excellent appearance, better grip with the hex socket (reducing stripping), and easier accessibility in tight spaces. For RC applications, this translates to more reliable fastening and quicker maintenance work.
  • Are these machine thread or wood thread screws? — These are machine thread screws, which means they're designed to engage with pre-drilled tapped holes rather than cutting their own threads into material. This specification is essential for RC cars where precision engineering and consistent fit are paramount. Machine threads provide reliable fastening across multiple assembly and disassembly cycles without degradation, making them ideal for components you'll maintain regularly.
  • What tools do I need to use these screws? — You'll need a hex driver, commonly called an Allen key, in the appropriate size to fit the M3 socket. Most RC enthusiasts keep a set of metric hex drivers handy as they're essential tools for any RC toolkit. The hex socket design means you get excellent grip and control, with minimal risk of the tool slipping compared to Phillips or straight-slot screws.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — Yes, absolutely. Anyone maintaining an FTX RC car will eventually need replacement fasteners, and having genuine OEM screws on hand is exactly the right approach. Beginners benefit from using authentic manufacturer components that are guaranteed to fit correctly, rather than experimenting with generic screws that might not meet the original engineering specifications.
