Overview
The Fusion 3S XH Balance Extension Lead 200mm (O-FS-XH200/3) is an essential accessory for RC enthusiasts who regularly charge and balance 3-cell LiPo batteries. Whether you're maintaining a fleet of RC cars, drones, or aircraft across the UK, this practical extension lead solves a common problem: when standard balance cables are too short, they create awkward angles and put unnecessary stress on delicate balance connectors. At 200mm in length, this XH-type lead gives you the extra reach you need to position your battery safely and conveniently during charging or voltage checks, making it a smart addition to any serious RC charging setup.
Manufactured by Fusion, a trusted name in RC charging accessories, this balance extension lead is specifically designed for 3S LiPo batteries equipped with XH-type balance ports. It's ideal for anyone who charges batteries in tight spaces, stores them in custom charge cases, or simply wants to relieve strain on their charger and battery connectors. The 200mm length strikes the perfect balance between portability and practical reach, making it suitable for desk-based charging stations, workshop environments, and even trackside operations where space is at a premium.
If you've ever struggled to access your battery's balance port without twisting cables or bending connectors at awkward angles, you know how quickly even premium connectors can become loose or damaged. This simple but effective lead addresses that problem directly, helping you protect your investment in quality batteries and chargers whilst improving the overall efficiency of your RC charging workflow.
Key Features
- 200mm Extension Length — Provides adequate reach between your 3S LiPo battery's XH balance port and your charger or balance board, eliminating the need to force batteries into uncomfortable positions or stretch cables beyond their design limits. This length is ideal for organising wiring in charge cases and tight spaces where standard short balance leads simply won't reach.
- XH Balance Connector Type — Specifically designed for batteries and chargers using XH-type balance ports, ensuring perfect compatibility with a wide range of 3S LiPo batteries and balance charging equipment commonly used throughout the UK RC hobby community. The XH connector is a popular standard across many premium chargers and balance boards.
- Stress Relief for Delicate Connectors — By extending the reach of your balance cable, this lead significantly reduces the physical strain placed on both your battery's balance port and your charger's connector during the critical charging and monitoring phases. Protecting these connectors extends the lifespan of your expensive equipment and prevents the intermittent connection issues that can develop over time.
- Compact and Practical Design — At just 200mm, this lead remains portable enough for travel, trackside use, and storage in charge bags without adding bulk to your kit. It's lighter and more flexible than having to reposition your entire battery or charger.
- Improved Cable Management — This extension lead allows you to route balance cables more logically through your charging setup, whether you're using a custom charge case, a workbench organiser, or a portable charging station. Neater cable routing also reduces the risk of accidental damage from pinching or crushing.
- Made by Fusion — Fusion is recognised as a reliable manufacturer of RC charging accessories and adapters. This lead represents the kind of simple, practical engineering that serious RC modellers depend on for consistent, trouble-free operation.
Technical Performance
The Fusion 3S XH Balance Extension Lead 200mm is engineered for straightforward, reliable performance in the demanding environment of RC battery charging. The 200mm length has been carefully chosen to provide genuine practical benefit without introducing unnecessary cable runs that could complicate your charging setup or reduce connection reliability. The XH balance connector type is a widely adopted standard across professional-grade chargers and balance boards, including popular models from Dynamite and other leading manufacturers in the UK RC market. The lead itself uses quality wire and connectors that are designed to handle the low-voltage, low-current characteristic of balance charging circuits, where the main risk is connection degradation rather than power handling. The flexible design of the lead means it will work equally well in cold outdoor conditions or warm indoor workshop environments, maintaining connector integrity throughout its service life. For users operating multiple 3S LiPo batteries — whether for RC cars, quadcopters, aircraft, or boats — having a properly fitted extension lead prevents the cumulative damage that occurs when balance ports are repeatedly stressed by short or poorly routed cables. This lead contributes to the overall health and longevity of your battery collection by promoting proper connector alignment and reducing mechanical wear on both the battery balance port and charger socket.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a balance extension lead and why do I need one? — A balance extension lead plugs into your 3S LiPo battery's balance port and provides extra cable length to reach your charger or balance board. You need one when your standard balance cables are too short, forcing you to bend the battery at awkward angles or stretch cables to their limits. This puts stress on delicate balance connectors and can cause them to loosen or fail over time. A 200mm extension lead solves this by providing comfortable, stress-free reach to your charging equipment.
- Is this compatible with my 3S LiPo battery? — Yes, as long as your 3S LiPo battery is equipped with an XH-type balance port. The XH connector is a common standard across many premium batteries and chargers used in the UK RC hobby. If your battery came with a JST-EH, JST-XH, or other alternative balance connector, you would need a different adapter or extension lead. Check your battery documentation or look at the balance port itself to confirm it matches the XH standard.
- What voltage does this lead handle? — This balance extension lead is designed specifically for balance charging circuits, which operate at low voltage (typically around 4.2 volts per cell for LiPo batteries, or around 12.6 volts total for a 3S pack). The lead carries only the tiny currents needed for voltage monitoring and cell balancing, not the main charging current. This means it can be much lighter and more compact than a main discharge lead.
- Can I use this with 2S or 4S batteries instead? — No. This lead is specifically manufactured for 3S LiPo batteries with XH balance ports. If you need extension leads for 2S batteries, Fusion also manufactures a 2S XH Balance Extension Lead (O-FS-XH200/2). For 4S batteries, the 4S XH Balance Extension Lead (O-FS-XH200/4) is available, and for 6S batteries, the 6S XH Balance Extension Lead (O-FS-XH200/6) is offered. Always match the cell count of the extension lead to your battery.
- Will this lead work with any charger? — Yes, provided your charger has an XH-type balance port. This lead is compatible with any charger or balance board that accepts standard XH balance connectors, including popular models from Dynamite and other manufacturers. It's also compatible with dedicated balance adapter boards that feature XH ports.
- Is 200mm long enough? — For most users, yes. The 200mm (approximately 8 inches) length is designed to provide comfortable reach from a battery sitting on a bench or in a charge case to a charger or balance board positioned nearby. If your charger is further away or you need to route the cable around obstacles, you may need to consider alternative positioning or use multiple extension leads in series (though this is not generally recommended).
- Will this lead work for both charging and storage monitoring? — Yes. This extension lead can be used whenever you need to connect your battery's balance port to monitoring equipment, whether that's during active charging sessions, periodic voltage checks, or storage-charge monitoring with a dedicated charger.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — Absolutely. If you're new to LiPo battery charging and have struggled with balance cables that are too short, this lead removes that frustration immediately. It's one of the simplest and most practical accessories you can add to your RC charging kit, requiring no technical knowledge to use. Simply plug it into your battery's balance port and into your charger — that's it.
