Overview
The Traxxas 10-T Pinion Gear (32-pitch) (Steel) Set TRX6746 is an essential upgrade component for RC enthusiasts looking to fine-tune the performance of their Traxxas RC vehicles. Whether you're running a Traxxas Rustler Ultimate VXL, TRX-4 Chevrolet K10 Cheyenne, TRX-4 Ford F-150 Ranger, or any other compatible Traxxas model, this precision-engineered pinion gear allows you to optimise acceleration and top speed for different running conditions. As a serious RC car enthusiast in the UK, you'll appreciate how gear ratio adjustments can dramatically transform your driving experience, whether you're tackling challenging terrain or pushing for maximum velocity on open ground.
Manufactured by Traxxas, a globally recognised leader in RC technology, this pinion gear represents quality engineering at an affordable price point. The 10-tooth configuration with 32-pitch specification provides the flexibility you need to dial in the perfect performance balance for your specific driving style and track conditions. RC bashers, trail runners, and competitive drivers alike will benefit from having spare pinion gears on hand, as these components wear with regular use and require periodic replacement to maintain optimal drivetrain efficiency. Available from RC Model Shop, your trusted UK RC retailer, this genuine Traxxas component comes with the assurance of authenticity and expert support.
If you're new to gear ratio tuning, this is an excellent entry point into performance customisation. Simply by swapping your pinion gear, you can shift the balance between acceleration and top speed without major chassis modifications. Smaller pinion teeth generally reduce top speed but increase acceleration, while larger teeth do the opposite—making this 10-tooth gear a versatile mid-range option for most running conditions you'll encounter with your RC car in the UK.

Technical Performance
The Traxxas 10-T Pinion Gear represents precision engineering focused on durability and performance optimisation. Machined from hardened steel, this component is substantially more durable than softer materials, resisting tooth wear even under continuous high-speed operation. The 10-tooth, 32-pitch specification places this gear in the mid-range of Traxxas's pinion offerings, making it ideal for drivers who want a balanced approach to acceleration and top speed. The 3.2 mm bore accommodates standard Traxxas motor shafts, and the included set screw provides reliable mechanical locking to prevent slippage during aggressive acceleration or high-torque climbing situations. In practical terms, this means you're getting a gear that will maintain consistent power delivery lap after lap, whether you're bashing in the garden, running at a local RC track, or tackling challenging 4x4 trail obstacles. The hardened steel construction means you won't experience the tooth stripping or gear degradation that can occur with lower-quality pinion gears, ensuring your investment in this component pays dividends over many months of use. For RC car owners in the UK seeking reliable performance components that won't compromise their vehicle's drivetrain, this Traxxas pinion gear delivers engineering excellence in a compact, affordable package.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a pinion gear and why do I need to change it? — A pinion gear is a small toothed wheel that meshes with your RC vehicle's spur gear to transmit power from the motor to the wheels. By changing your pinion gear teeth count, you alter the overall gear ratio of your vehicle, allowing you to fine-tune the balance between acceleration and top speed. A smaller pinion (fewer teeth) gives faster acceleration but lower top speed, whilst a larger pinion (more teeth) offers higher top speed but reduced acceleration. This 10-tooth gear provides a middle-ground option suitable for most conditions.
- Is this pinion gear compatible with my Traxxas RC car? — This pinion gear is compatible with numerous Traxxas models including the Rustler Ultimate VXL 4x4 (all colours), TRX-4 Chevrolet K10 Cheyenne High Trail Edition (all colours), TRX-4 Ford F-150 Ranger XLT High Trail Edition (all colours), TRX-4 1972 Chevrolet K5 Blazer High Trail Edition, TRX-4 1979 Chevy Blazer, TRX-4 2021 Ford Bronco, TRX-4 Defender, TRX-4 Sport, TRX-4 Nissan Pathfinder, and various other Traxxas 4WD and crawler models. Always consult your vehicle's owner's manual to confirm compatibility and recommended gearing options for your specific model.
- What does 32-pitch mean? — Pitch refers to the size of the teeth on the gear. A 32-pitch gear has smaller teeth than lower-pitch gears (like 48-pitch), which means each tooth is relatively larger. The 32-pitch specification is standard for many Traxxas vehicles and ensures perfect mesh with compatible spur gears.
- How often should I replace my pinion gear? — Pinion gear wear depends on your driving frequency and intensity. Regular bashers might need replacement every few months, whilst casual users might extend this to six months or longer. Signs of wear include skipped teeth, unusual grinding noises, or loss of traction. Having spare pinion gears on hand means you can quickly get back to driving rather than waiting for replacements.
- What is the 3 mm bore and set screw used for? — The 3 mm bore is the hollow centre of the gear that slides onto your motor shaft. The set screw threads through the gear to clamp it firmly to the shaft, preventing slippage and ensuring reliable power transmission during acceleration and climbing.
- Will changing my pinion gear affect my vehicle's warranty? — Whilst changing your pinion gear is a normal maintenance and tuning operation supported by Traxxas, it's worth checking your specific vehicle's warranty terms. Most manufacturers recognise gear changes as routine maintenance rather than modification.
- What's the difference between this 10-tooth gear and other tooth counts? — Traxxas offers pinion gears in various tooth counts (typically 14-18 teeth in the standard range). This 10-tooth gear is smaller, resulting in a lower gear ratio that provides faster acceleration but a lower top speed compared to higher tooth-count options. If you find your vehicle is fast but sluggish off the line, the 10-tooth would be an upgrade; if you're maxed out on top speed but want to go faster, a higher tooth count would help.
