History
The A6M Zero was a long-range fighter aircraft operated by the Imperial Japanese Air Service. In the early stages of the Second World War, the Zero gained a legendary reputation as a formidable dogfighter, dominating the skies until around 1943. Designed with range and performance in mind, the aircraft made sacrifices in durability and pilot protection. As a result, many highly skilled pilots lost their lives in combat. These limitations ultimately contributed to an Allied advantage in the later years of the war.
