Overview

The Hobbywing XERUN AXE Extended Wire Set 300MM (R2) is a specialist extension cable designed for RC enthusiasts who require additional length for their sensor wiring when installing the AXE R2 or R3 brushless power system combo onto their RC chassis. This sensor extension wire solves a common problem encountered by RC car UK builders and bashers: when mounting a complete AXE power system setup, the factory sensor wire between the motor and ESC may not be long enough to reach properly after the motor and ESC are positioned according to your chassis layout. Whether you're a seasoned RC competitor fine-tuning a precision setup or a weekend basher modifying your ready to run RC car, this extension wire offers a reliable solution to cable routing challenges.

At 300mm in length (excluding the two connectors), this is the longer option in Hobbywing's AXE extension wire range, making it ideal for larger chassis builds, setups with motor mounted further back, or configurations where the motor and ESC are separated by a greater distance than standard wiring allows. This genuine Hobbywing spare part is manufactured to the same quality standards as the original equipment, ensuring compatibility and reliable sensor communication between your brushless motor and electronic speed controller. The extension wire maintains the integrity of your power system, allowing proper temperature sensing and optimal ESC performance regardless of your specific chassis layout.

RC Model Shop stocks genuine Hobbywing spare parts as an authorised dealer, ensuring you receive authentic components backed by manufacturer warranty and support. This extension wire is a valuable addition to any workshop stocking AXE R2 or R3 equipped builds, and it's particularly useful if you're experimenting with different motor placements or building multiple RC vehicles with varying chassis dimensions.

Key Features

  • 300mm Extended Length — The 300mm cable length (measured without connectors) provides substantial reach for motor-to-ESC connections on larger RC car builds or chassis configurations where motors are mounted further back, ensuring your sensor wire reaches without strain or requiring awkward routing that could damage delicate connectors.
  • Genuine Hobbywing Component — This is an authorised OEM spare part manufactured by Hobbywing to factory specifications, guaranteeing perfect compatibility with AXE R2 and R3 power systems and ensuring reliable sensor communication between motor and ESC for accurate temperature monitoring and performance optimisation.
  • Solves Cable Length Problems — Specifically designed to address situations where the factory sensor wire bundled with AXE power system combos proves too short after mounting components onto your chassis, eliminating the need for risky workarounds or compromised cable management.
  • Connector Compatibility — The extension wire features proper connectors at both ends (sold separately from the 300mm cable length itself) that match standard AXE sensor wire specifications, ensuring secure and reliable connections with no signal loss or intermittent contact issues.
  • Professional Quality Construction — Built with the same engineering standards as original Hobbywing equipment, this sensor wire provides robust, long-lasting performance with properly shielded conductors to maintain signal integrity in electrically noisy RC racing and bashing environments.
  • Universal AXE R2/R3 Compatibility — Works with both AXE R2 and AXE R3 brushless power system combos, making it a versatile spare part for builders running either generation of this popular RC power system across different chassis platforms.

Technical Performance

The XERUN AXE Extended Wire Set 300MM represents Hobbywing's commitment to solving real-world problems faced by RC enthusiasts in the UK and worldwide. When you install a brushless AXE power system combo onto your RC car, the motor sensor wire must communicate continuously with the electronic speed controller to report motor temperature and rotor position. This communication is essential for the ESC to operate safely and efficiently, preventing thermal shutdown and ensuring smooth acceleration and deceleration. However, the standard sensor wire length may be insufficient depending on your specific chassis layout, motor mounting position, and ESC placement. The 300mm extended wire provides a significant length increase, solving compatibility issues with larger chassis builds, modified motor positions, or unconventional component arrangements. The cable maintains proper shielding to prevent electromagnetic interference despite its extended length, preserving signal fidelity even in RC environments with multiple electrical systems running simultaneously. Whether you're building a high-speed ready to run RC car modification, a dedicated rock crawler, or a competition-grade racing platform, having the correct cable length ensures your brushless power system operates at peak performance without signal degradation or intermittent connection failures that could compromise vehicle safety or handling.

What's in the Box

  • One AXE Extended Wire Set 300MM sensor cable (300mm length excluding connectors)

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why do I need an extended sensor wire for my AXE brushless RC power system? — The factory sensor wire bundled with AXE R2 and R3 power system combos is designed for standard chassis layouts. However, depending on your specific motor mounting position, ESC placement, and chassis dimensions, this wire may not be long enough to reach without strain or requiring impractical cable routing. The 300mm extended wire solves this problem, giving you sufficient length to work with various RC car configurations and custom builds without compromising on signal quality or introducing mechanical stress on connectors.
  • Is the 300mm version the right length for my RC car? — Hobbywing offers two extension lengths: 150mm and 300mm (though some sources reference 120mm as well). The 300mm version is the longer option, suitable for larger chassis builds, vehicles with motors mounted significantly further back, or setups where motor and ESC separation is greater than standard wiring accommodates. If you're unsure which length suits your specific build, measure the distance between your motor connector location and ESC connector location before ordering. The 300mm extended wire is ideal for most larger RC platforms and custom configurations.
  • Will this extension wire work with both AXE R2 and R3 power systems? — Yes, this extension wire is compatible with both AXE R2 and AXE R3 brushless power system combos. It's designed as a universal AXE accessory, making it a valuable spare part if you run multiple AXE-equipped RC vehicles across different chassis platforms or if you're experimenting with system configurations that benefit from extended sensor cable reach.
  • What are the connectors like on this extension wire? — The extension wire is sold with the cable itself measuring 300mm in length, excluding the two connectors at each end. These connectors are standard AXE sensor wire connectors designed for secure, reliable connections with your motor and ESC. Ensure you're connecting the correct sensor lines from motor to ESC to maintain proper system communication and temperature monitoring.
  • How do I install the extended wire on my RC car? — Simply disconnect your existing sensor wire from either the motor or ESC, connect one end of the extension wire to the motor's sensor connector, and connect the other end to the ESC's sensor input. Route the cable safely away from moving parts, rotating shafts, and hot components. Ensure connectors are fully seated and secure before powering up your RC vehicle. Test the system before taking your RC car out to verify proper sensor communication and no warning lights on the ESC.
  • Is this suitable for beginners? — This is a specialist spare part rather than a beginner-level product. It's most valuable if you're building custom RC setups, modifying ready to run RC cars, or troubleshooting cable length issues with your existing AXE power system. Beginners using standard AXE configurations may not need this extension initially, but it's excellent to have in your spares kit if you plan multiple builds or experimental chassis setups.
  • What's the difference between 150mm and 300mm extension wires? — The primary difference is cable length. The 150mm version (also referenced as 120mm in some documentation) is suitable for modest cable routing adjustments on standard chassis builds. The 300mm version provides substantially greater reach, making it ideal for larger RC vehicles, custom motor positions significantly distant from the ESC, or build configurations requiring maximum flexibility in component placement and cable management.
