Overview
The Hobbywing Capacitor Module Non-Polarity Stock (HW30840004) is a precision-engineered power capacitor upgrade designed specifically for the XR10 PRO G2 ESC, one of the most popular electronic speed controllers in competitive 1/10th scale RC car racing. Whether you're competing in stock class racing or simply looking to optimise your RC car's performance, this capacitor module delivers measurable improvements to acceleration, electrical stability and overall power delivery. Built for racers who demand reliability and consistent performance at the track, this non-polarity capacitor provides the perfect balance between weight consciousness and electrical performance enhancement.
Stock class RC racing has unique requirements—regulations often limit component sizes and weights to maintain fair competition and keep costs manageable. The Hobbywing stock capacitor module addresses this need by offering a lighter-weight alternative to full-size modified capacitor modules, without sacrificing the electrical benefits that larger capacitors provide. If you're running in a stock or spec class racing category, or simply prefer a more compact upgrade that doesn't add unnecessary bulk to your chassis, this is the ideal solution for your XR10 PRO G2 ESC.
Designed and manufactured by Hobbywing, a globally recognised leader in brushless ESC technology and power management components, this capacitor module brings professional-grade engineering to your RC setup. The non-polarity design means you don't have to worry about correct orientation during installation, making it straightforward to fit even for those new to capacitor upgrades. Available now at RC Model Shop, this genuine Hobbywing component ensures authentic quality and full compatibility with your XR10 PRO G2 ESC.
Key Features
- Non-Polarity Design — The capacitor can be connected in either direction without risk of damage, making installation simple and foolproof even if you're upgrading your RC car for the first time or working in a rushed pit environment.
- 970µF Capacitance — This precisely specified capacitance value optimises power delivery for stock class racing, providing meaningful improvements without the excess weight of larger modified-class capacitor modules.
- Low Impedance — The capacitor's low impedance characteristics ensure rapid charge and discharge cycles, allowing electrical current to flow efficiently to your motor without resistance-induced losses or voltage sag during hard acceleration.
- Greatly Improved Start-Up Acceleration — By providing a burst of stable electrical current at the moment you apply throttle, this capacitor module dramatically improves your vehicle's launch performance, giving you a crucial competitive edge off the line at the start of a race.
- Reduced Heat Generation — The advanced design minimises wasted energy, keeping your ESC and power system cooler during extended racing sessions, which improves component reliability and maintains consistent performance throughout your race day.
- Reduced Ripple Current and Interference — The capacitor significantly reduces electrical noise and ripple current, resulting in cleaner power delivery to your motor, more stable ESC operation, and reduced electromagnetic interference that could affect your radio system.
- Stock Class Optimised — Purpose-built for stock racing regulations, this module delivers electrical performance benefits whilst maintaining the weight and size constraints required for competitive stock class racing.
- Direct XR10 PRO G2 Compatibility — Engineered specifically for the XR10 PRO G2 ESC, this module integrates seamlessly with your existing setup without modification or adaptation.
Technical Performance
The Hobbywing Capacitor Module HW30840004 represents a significant upgrade in power management for your 1/10th scale stock racing setup. With a capacitance rating of 970µF, this module is precisely calibrated to enhance the electrical performance of the XR10 PRO G2 ESC without exceeding the weight and size restrictions of stock class racing regulations. The low impedance construction ensures that when you demand peak power from your brushless motor, the capacitor delivers instantaneous current without the voltage drop or delay that would otherwise reduce acceleration response. During testing and real-world racing use, owners report noticeably snappier acceleration off the line, reduced motor sag during high-current draws, and improved overall consistency throughout longer race heats. The advanced design keeps internal heat generation to a minimum, which is critical for maintaining ESC longevity during back-to-back races or extended practice sessions in hot weather. The non-polarity construction uses high-quality dielectric materials and precision manufacturing tolerances that meet professional racing standards. By effectively filtering electrical noise and reducing ripple current across the power distribution system, this capacitor module also protects sensitive electronics and can improve radio reception stability by eliminating potential sources of electromagnetic interference in your RC car.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Will this capacitor module fit my RC car's ESC? — Yes, but only if you're running an XR10 PRO G2 ESC specifically. This module is engineered exclusively for this speed controller. If you use a different Hobbywing ESC model or a different brand entirely, this module may not be physically compatible or electrically suitable. Always verify your ESC model number before ordering.
- Is this better than a full-size modified capacitor module? — That depends on your racing class and priorities. If you're competing in stock or spec class racing, the stock-size capacitor module is designed specifically to meet those regulations while delivering excellent performance. If you're racing in modified class or street bash racing where weight and size aren't restricted, a larger modified-class capacitor module would offer even greater performance gains. For stock class competitors, this module is the right choice.
- How much will this improve my acceleration? — Most RC racers report noticeably snappier off-the-line performance and reduced motor sag during aggressive throttle application. The improvement is particularly noticeable when using high-discharge LiPo batteries in stock racing, where consistent power delivery is crucial for competitive lap times. Individual results vary depending on your battery, motor setup, and driving style, but the performance gain is measurable and relevant for competitive racing.
- Is this suitable for beginners? — If you're new to RC cars but already own an XR10 PRO G2 ESC and want to improve performance, this is a straightforward upgrade. However, installation requires basic soldering skills to connect the module to your ESC. If you're uncomfortable with soldering, ask an experienced RC friend to help, or take your car to a hobby shop for professional installation. Once fitted, the module is completely passive and requires no adjustment or maintenance.
- Can I damage my ESC by installing this capacitor? — No, the non-polarity design means you cannot accidentally reverse the polarity and damage your speed controller. As long as you follow basic soldering practices and ensure good electrical connections, installation is safe. If you're unsure about soldering, have an experienced RC enthusiast do the work for you.
- What battery does this capacitor module need? — The capacitor module itself doesn't require a specific battery—it works with whatever LiPo or battery system you're already using with your XR10 PRO G2 ESC. It's compatible with standard 2S, 3S, and other battery configurations that your ESC supports. The capacitor simply improves power delivery from whatever battery you choose.
- Why would I choose this over upgrading to a larger capacitor? — If you're racing in stock class, regulations likely restrict the size and weight of components you can use. This stock-size capacitor module delivers real performance benefits whilst staying within those class restrictions. If you weren't restricted, a larger modified-class capacitor would offer additional gains, but for stock racing, this module is purpose-designed to be the optimal choice.
