From materials to production processes, every aspect of this servo has been designed with sustainability in mind, proving that you don't have to sacrifice green credentials for professional-grade RC equipment.
Key Features
- Metal and Aluminium Construction — The partial aluminium middle case allows for significantly cooler operating temperatures compared to standard plastic-bodied servos, ensuring your servo maintains peak performance even during extended flight sessions and preventing thermal throttling during demanding manoeuvres.
- Industrial Metal and Plastic Gear Train — The combination of industrial plastic and metal gears creates a robust framework that ensures durability, longevity, and smooth operation, delivering precise control and reliable performance that won't let you down during critical flight moments.
- Super-Speed Digital Response — With a blazingly fast 0.09 seconds per 60-degree rotation at 6V, this servo responds instantly to control inputs, providing the snappy, precise control that modern RC helicopter pilots and park flyer aircraft operators demand for stable, responsive flight characteristics.
- Excellent Torque Output — Producing 2.2kg of torque at 6V (30.6 oz-in), this servo delivers sufficient holding power and control authority for 450-class helicopters and park flyer applications, ensuring stable CCPM and rudder control without servo saturation or lag.
- Compact Micro Form Factor — Measuring just 22.8 x 12.0 x 25.4mm and weighing only 13.6 grams, this micro servo fits into the tight spaces of modern RC helicopter frames and small aircraft without adding unnecessary weight that would compromise flight performance.
- Soft Start Mode and Sanwa SSR Compatibility — The new plus-model features include soft-start capability and compatibility with Sanwa SSR systems, providing enhanced versatility and broader integration options with modern RC radio equipment and flight controllers.
- Wide Operating Range — Operating reliably between -10°C and 50°C, this servo maintains consistent performance across a wide range of environmental conditions, whether you're flying in cool morning sessions or hot afternoon operations.
- Environmentally Friendly Design — Savox servos are designed and manufactured with environmental responsibility in mind, using sustainable materials and production processes that appeal to RC enthusiasts who care about their environmental footprint.
Technical Performance
The Savox SH0253+ represents the pinnacle of micro servo engineering, combining cutting-edge digital circuitry with precision mechanical components. At the heart of this servo lies a brushed motor that delivers smooth, consistent torque output across the full operating range. The servo features a sophisticated digital control system operating at 240Hz refresh rate, providing incredibly responsive control feedback that translates directly into smooth, predictable aircraft handling characteristics. The metal and plastic gear train has been engineered specifically to balance strength with weight, ensuring that the servo can handle the demands of CCPM helicopter swashplate control and rudder authority for park flyer aircraft without adding unnecessary bulk to your airframe.
The aluminium middle case is a critical design element that sets this servo apart from competitors. By using partial aluminium construction, Savox engineers have created a heat-dissipation pathway that keeps internal temperatures lower than standard plastic-bodied servos. This thermal management is crucial for reliability during extended flight sessions and prevents the servo from entering thermal throttling mode where performance degrades. The servo operates at 150mA under no-load conditions at 4.8V and 180mA at 6V, with idle current consumption of just 5mA, making it efficient enough for battery-conscious applications where every milliamp-hour of capacity matters.
Specifications have been verified against the manufacturer's authoritative datasheet. At 6V operating voltage, this servo achieves 0.09 seconds per 60-degree travel, making it one of the fastest micro servos available for RC helicopter applications. The 2.2kg torque output at 6V provides excellent control authority without servo saturation, whilst the 21-tooth spline output gear ensures compatibility with standard servo horns used across the RC helicopter community. The servo features one ball bearing supporting the output shaft, providing smooth, low-friction rotation that reduces mechanical losses and improves response accuracy.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Is the Savox SH0253+ suitable for RC helicopter CCPM applications? — Yes, this servo has been specifically designed and recommended by Savox for CCPM (cyclic/collective pitch mixing) applications on 450-class helicopters. The fast 0.09-second response time and 2.2kg torque output at 6V provide the precise, responsive control needed for stable swashplate mixing and collective pitch management.
- What's the difference between the SH0253 and SH0253+ models? — The newer SH0253+ plus model includes two significant improvements: soft-start mode capability for smoother servo initialisation, and compatibility with Sanwa SSR radio systems, offering enhanced integration with modern RC radio equipment and flight controllers.
- Can I use this servo on park flyer aircraft? — Absolutely. Savox specifically recommends the SH0253+ for park flyer applications thanks to its light 13.6-gram weight, compact form factor, and responsive digital control that enables precise aileron, elevator, and rudder control on small fixed-wing aircraft.
- What battery voltage should I use with this servo? — This servo is compatible with both 4.8V and 6V battery packs. For best performance, use 6V power, which provides the fastest response time (0.09 sec/60°) and maximum torque output (2.2kg). If using 4.8V, expect slightly slower performance (0.13 sec/60°) but still reliable operation at 1.8kg torque.
- How does the aluminium case improve servo performance? — The partial aluminium middle case acts as a heat sink, dissipating internal servo heat more efficiently than standard plastic construction. This prevents thermal throttling during extended flight sessions and keeps operating temperatures lower, maintaining consistent performance throughout your flying day.
- Is this servo waterproof? — Whilst the SH0253+ features industrial-grade construction, it is not specifically rated as waterproof or submersible. It should be protected from water ingress and operated in dry conditions.
- What servo horns are compatible with the SH0253+? — The servo features a 21-tooth spline output gear, making it compatible with standard servo horns designed for this spline size. Savox offers compatible servo horn sets (such as the SAV-SH11P) available separately.
- How long is the servo connecting wire? — The servo comes with a standard connecting wire measuring 250mm (±5mm) in length, which is typical for servo applications but may require extension cables for applications where the servo must be mounted far from the receiver.
