Overview

The FTX Outback Hi-Rock Slipper Spring (2) is an essential drivetrain spare part designed specifically for the FTX Outback Hi-Rock 4x4 RTR 1/10 Trail Rock Crawler. Whether you're a dedicated RC enthusiast looking to maintain your trail crawler in peak condition or someone new to the world of RC cars UK, having quality replacement parts on hand is crucial for keeping your vehicle running smoothly. This slipper spring pack ensures your rock crawler continues to perform reliably during intense off-road adventures and challenging terrain.

Slipper springs are vital components in any RC crawler's drivetrain system, and the FTX specification ensures perfect compatibility with your Hi-Rock model. These springs work as part of the slipper clutch mechanism, which protects your drivetrain from damage during hard impacts and prevents wheel lock-up when the vehicle encounters sudden resistance. For serious RC off-road enthusiasts and casual weekend bashers alike, keeping spare slipper springs in your parts box is a smart investment that can save you from costly repairs down the line.

As an authorised FTX retailer, RC Model Shop stocks genuine OEM specification parts that meet the manufacturer's exact standards. This two-pack of slipper springs gives you the flexibility to replace worn components or maintain spares for continuous trail action. When you're ready to upgrade or maintain your ready-to-run RC crawler, quality spare parts like these make all the difference in longevity and performance.

Key Features

  • Genuine FTX OEM Parts — These slipper springs are manufactured to exact FTX specifications, ensuring perfect fitment and reliable performance with your Outback Hi-Rock 4x4 RTR crawler. Using genuine parts rather than generic alternatives guarantees compatibility and durability.
  • Two-Pack Configuration — This pack contains two slipper springs, allowing you to replace both sides of your drivetrain or maintain spare components for extended trail sessions without interruption. Having duplicates means you can swap out worn springs quickly and keep spares for emergency repairs.
  • Drivetrain Protection — Slipper springs are essential for protecting your RC crawler's drivetrain system. They allow controlled slipping in the clutch mechanism, which prevents damage to gears, bearings and motor components when your vehicle encounters sudden impacts or wheel lock-up during rock crawling.
  • Essential Maintenance Part — Regular use of your RC trail crawler will gradually wear slipper springs as they absorb impacts and manage torque transfer. Keeping replacement springs available ensures you can maintain peak drivetrain performance and avoid unexpected breakdowns during important crawls or competitions.

Technical Performance

The FTX Outback Hi-Rock Slipper Spring (2) represents precision engineering in miniature form. These springs are engineered specifically for the demanding requirements of 1/10 scale rock crawling, where extreme torque loads, impacts, and challenging terrain place significant stress on drivetrain components. The slipper clutch mechanism protects against drivetrain damage by allowing controlled slip when excessive torque is applied, preventing the wheels from locking up and protecting internal gears from shock loads. The spring rate is calibrated to work with the Hi-Rock's transmission system, ensuring the slipper engages and disengages smoothly during normal driving while maintaining adequate protection during crawling. The design philosophy behind FTX's rock crawling platform emphasises durability and reliability, making these slipper springs a critical component for anyone running their Hi-Rock regularly on technical terrain. Whether you're climbing steep rocks, navigating through tight gaps, or powering through challenging obstacles, these springs help distribute torque safely throughout the drivetrain, extending the lifespan of expensive internal components like gears and bearings.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a slipper spring and why do I need it for my RC crawler? — A slipper spring is part of your RC vehicle's slipper clutch mechanism, which protects the drivetrain from damage during hard impacts and prevents wheel lock-up. When you're rock crawling with your FTX Outback Hi-Rock, you encounter tremendous forces and impacts. The slipper clutch allows the motor to slip relative to the wheels when torque exceeds a certain threshold, protecting delicate gears, bearings and motor components from breakage. Over time and with regular use, slipper springs wear out and lose their effectiveness, making replacement springs essential maintenance items for any serious RC crawler owner.
  • How do I know when to replace my slipper springs? — If your FTX Outback Hi-Rock is experiencing excessive wheel spin during acceleration, loss of drivetrain protection, or signs that the slipper is not engaging properly, it may be time to replace the slipper springs. Worn springs lose their spring rate, reducing their ability to provide proper clamping force in the slipper clutch. If you notice your crawler seems less responsive or you're concerned about drivetrain damage, replacement is straightforward with this two-pack.
  • Will these slipper springs work with other FTX models? — These springs are specifically designed for the FTX Outback Hi-Rock 4x4 RTR 1/10 Trail Rock Crawler. While FTX manufactures many different rock crawler and off-road models, slipper springs are model-specific because they must match the exact dimensions and spring rate of your particular vehicle's transmission. Always verify compatibility before purchasing replacement parts to ensure proper fit and performance.
  • How often should I replace slipper springs on my RC rock crawler? — The lifespan of slipper springs depends on how frequently and aggressively you drive your RC crawler. Regular trail running will gradually wear the springs, while intense competition use or particularly challenging terrain will accelerate wear. Many experienced RC enthusiasts carry spare springs in their pit box for emergencies. As preventative maintenance, inspect your slipper springs regularly and replace them when they show signs of wear or loss of tension.
  • Is this suitable for beginners to RC crawling? — Yes, this is an important maintenance item for anyone operating an FTX Outback Hi-Rock, regardless of experience level. In fact, beginners should understand the importance of slipper springs early on, as they're fundamental to protecting your investment. Keeping spare parts like these on hand helps you maintain your RC crawler properly and avoid costly repairs from preventable drivetrain damage.
