FTX is a trusted manufacturer in the RC hobby community, delivering quality spare parts that keep your RC models running at their best. These bearings are engineered to reduce friction and wear in your RC car's drivetrain, suspension, and other moving components, ensuring your vehicle performs reliably whether you're racing on a track or bashing across rough terrain.

If you're a seasoned RC racer or a weekend basher in the UK, you'll appreciate the importance of quality bearings in your setup. Worn or damaged bearings can significantly impact your RC car's speed, handling, and overall performance. The FTX Ball Bearing (3*6*2.5) is designed to meet the exacting standards required by the RC community, offering a dependable solution for bearing replacement across many FTX models and compatible platforms. These plastic-covered bearings provide excellent value for money and are readily available from RC Model Shop, your trusted UK RC retailer.

The plastic cover design protects the bearing races from dirt and debris during operation, extending bearing life and maintaining consistent performance in demanding RC environments. Whether you need a single bearing or multiple units for a complete bearing refresh, this spare part represents the kind of quality maintenance component that serious RC enthusiasts rely on to keep their models in peak condition.

Key Features

  • Precision Ball Bearing Design — These are precision-engineered ball bearings that minimise rotational friction, which is absolutely critical for maintaining the speed and efficiency of your RC car's drivetrain and moving components. Quality bearings directly translate to better acceleration, higher top speeds, and more responsive handling characteristics.
  • 3*6*2.5mm Dimensions — The specific 3*6*2.5 millimetre sizing makes these bearings compatible with a wide range of FTX RC models and many other 1/10 and similar scale vehicles. The standardised metric dimensions ensure precise fitment and optimal performance across compatible platforms.
  • Plastic Cover Protection — The plastic cover provides essential protection against dirt, sand, and moisture ingress during off-road running or outdoor bashingessions. This protective design helps maintain bearing cleanliness and extends the service life of each bearing significantly.
  • Cost-Effective Spare Part — As an affordable replacement bearing, this part allows RC enthusiasts to perform routine maintenance and bearing replacements without breaking the budget. Having quality spare bearings on hand means you can keep your RC car racing-ready without expensive downtime.
  • Compatible with Multiple FTX Models — These bearings are listed as genuine FTX spares, meaning they are engineered to work seamlessly with numerous FTX RC models including the popular FTX Outback range, FTX Carnage models, FTX DR8, FTX Edge, and many others in the FTX product line.
  • Smooth Operation — Premium ball bearing construction ensures smooth, consistent rotation with minimal play or wobble, which directly improves your RC car's handling precision and overall driving experience whether you're on track or trail.

Technical Performance

The FTX Ball Bearing (3*6*2.5) represents a fundamental component in RC drivetrain engineering. These precision bearings are manufactured to tight tolerances to ensure smooth operation with minimal friction, which is absolutely essential for maximising the efficiency of your RC car's motor and transmission system. The 3*6*2.5 millimetre metric dimensions have become a standard sizing across numerous 1/10 scale RC cars, buggies, and off-road trucks, making this bearing widely applicable across the hobby. The plastic cover design serves multiple purposes: it protects the delicate ball races from contamination by dirt and sand during outdoor running, helps retain bearing grease for longer intervals between maintenance, and prevents moisture from entering the bearing assembly. In performance testing across the RC community, quality ball bearings directly contribute to improved acceleration response, higher achievable top speeds, and more precise steering feedback. The engineering quality ensures these bearings can handle the demanding loads and speeds generated by brushless motors and high-performance ESCs commonly used in modern RC cars. Whether you're running a 3S or higher LiPo-powered RC vehicle, proper bearing maintenance with quality replacements like the FTX-BB008 is crucial for reliable performance and durability of your model's drivetrain.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Which FTX RC models use the 3*6*2.5 ball bearing? — The FTX-BB008 bearing is compatible with a comprehensive range of FTX vehicles including the FTX Outback 2.0, FTX Outback 3.0, FTX Carnage, FTX Carnage NT, FTX DR8, FTX Edge, FTX Hi-Rock, FTX Kanyon, FTX Mauler, FTX Ravine, FTX Siege, FTX Stinger, FTX Tracer, FTX Vantage, and many other models in the FTX product range. Check your specific model's spare parts diagram to confirm bearing locations and quantities needed.
  • How many bearings do I need to replace? — Most RC cars, buggies, and trucks use multiple bearings throughout the drivetrain, suspension, and wheel hubs. A typical 1/10 scale RC vehicle may use anywhere from 4 to 12 bearings depending on the model configuration. We recommend purchasing a bearing refresh kit or calculating how many individual bearings your specific model requires for a complete maintenance overhaul.
  • Why should I replace worn bearings in my RC car? — Worn or damaged bearings create friction that reduces efficiency, diminishes top speed, causes sluggish acceleration, and generates heat in the drivetrain. By replacing worn bearings with quality FTX replacements, you'll restore your RC car's performance to like-new condition. Better handling response, improved speed, and reduced strain on your motor and ESC are all benefits of timely bearing replacement.
  • What is the difference between plastic-covered bearings and open bearings? — Plastic-covered bearings like the FTX-BB008 provide superior protection against dirt, sand, mud, and moisture compared to open bearing designs. The cover helps retain grease inside the bearing while keeping contaminants out, extending bearing life significantly in outdoor RC environments. This makes them ideal for UK off-road RC bashers and trail runners.
  • How do I install these bearings? — Installation varies depending on where the bearing is located on your RC model. Generally, you'll need to remove the relevant component (wheel hub, gear shaft, suspension arm, etc.), press out the old bearing, and press in the new FTX bearing. We recommend consulting your model's instruction manual or watching online installation guides for your specific vehicle to ensure correct installation.
  • Are these bearings suitable for high-speed running? — Absolutely. These precision FTX ball bearings are engineered for use in modern RC cars powered by brushless motors and quality ESCs capable of high speeds. The tight tolerances and smooth operation of these bearings make them ideal for performance running on both track and off-road courses.
