Overview
The Fastrax ARRMA Grom/Granite Metal Front CVD Driveshafts (PR) are premium replacement driveshafts engineered specifically for the ARRMA Grom and Granite RC vehicles. Whether you're an experienced RC enthusiast running a high-performance setup or a dedicated basher pushing your RC car UK to its limits, these metal CVD driveshafts represent a significant upgrade from standard components. The constant velocity joint (CVD) design ensures smooth power delivery across a wide range of suspension articulation, making these driveshafts essential for maintaining consistent performance during aggressive driving and off-road adventures.
Fastrax is renowned for producing high-quality aftermarket RC parts that enhance durability and performance across the ARRMA range. These front CVD driveshafts combine precision engineering with robust materials to withstand the demanding conditions of competitive racing and recreational bashing alike. If you're looking to upgrade your ARRMA Grom or Granite with components that will survive harder impacts and provide more reliable power transmission, these metal CVD driveshafts deliver exceptional value and longevity compared to standard plastic alternatives.
These driveshafts are supplied as a pair (PR designation indicates paired components), giving you complete front-end driveline coverage. Installation is straightforward on ARRMA vehicles, and the upgrade pays dividends in terms of durability and performance consistency, especially if you regularly push your RC car to its limits on UK terrain. When combined with other quality aftermarket parts, metal CVD driveshafts like these form the foundation of a truly high-performance RC setup.
Key Features
- Constant Velocity (CVD) Joint Design — The CVD joint technology ensures that torque is delivered smoothly to the wheels regardless of the suspension angle, which is crucial for maintaining traction and performance during aggressive cornering and rough terrain driving. This design eliminates the jerky power delivery of older standard joints and provides more predictable handling characteristics.
- Metal Construction — Unlike plastic driveshafts that can flex or break under load, these metal driveshafts are manufactured from durable materials that can withstand the extreme forces generated during hard acceleration, cornering and impact. Metal construction significantly extends component lifespan and reduces the need for frequent replacements.
- Precision Engineering — Fastrax has engineered these driveshafts to exacting tolerances, ensuring perfect fitment and alignment with your ARRMA Grom or Granite's drivetrain. Tight tolerances mean minimal backlash and maximum power transmission efficiency, translating to better acceleration and more responsive handling.
- Pair Supply (PR) — The package contains a matched pair of front driveshafts, allowing you to upgrade both front corners of your vehicle in one purchase. This ensures balanced performance and handling across the front axle.
- ARRMA Compatibility — These driveshafts are specifically engineered to fit ARRMA Grom and Granite models perfectly, with no modifications required. Drop-in fitment means you can upgrade quickly without compatibility concerns or installation headaches.
- Enhanced Durability — Metal components naturally resist cracking, splitting and deformation better than plastic alternatives. Whether you're driving on concrete, tarmac or natural terrain across the UK, these driveshafts maintain their structural integrity much longer than standard equipment.
- Improved Power Delivery — The combination of CVD technology and metal construction creates a much stiffer driveline with reduced flex. This means more of your motor's power reaches the wheels, resulting in noticeably improved acceleration and overall performance.
Technical Performance
The Fastrax ARRMA Grom/Granite Metal Front CVD Driveshafts represent a substantial performance upgrade over standard plastic driveshafts, particularly for drivers who demand durability and reliability from their RC car UK. The constant velocity joint design is essential for modern RC performance, as it maintains consistent torque delivery across the full range of suspension movement. When your ARRMA Grom or Granite compresses and extends its suspension through jumps, berms and rough terrain, a quality CVD joint ensures the power curve remains linear rather than experiencing the dead spots and inconsistent delivery that plagued older designs. The metal construction provides exceptional strength-to-weight efficiency, resisting the flex that causes loss of power transmission in plastic components. These driveshafts are engineered to the high standards expected from Fastrax, a brand recognised across the RC industry for attention to detail and manufacturing quality. The precision-machined components ensure minimal run-out and perfect concentricity, eliminating vibration and noise that can indicate worn or poorly-made driveshafts. Whether you're running a stock ARRMA Grom or a heavily modified Granite with upgraded motors and suspension, these metal CVD driveshafts will handle the demands and provide years of reliable service. The upgrade path from standard components to these metal alternatives typically results in measurable improvements in acceleration feel, mid-range responsiveness, and overall drivetrain reliability.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Are metal CVD driveshafts worth upgrading from stock plastic components? — Absolutely. Metal CVD driveshafts provide substantially better durability, improved power transmission efficiency, and longer service life compared to plastic alternatives. If you're driving your ARRMA Grom or Granite regularly and want to reduce maintenance and component replacement frequency, metal CVD driveshafts are one of the best investments you can make. The improved responsiveness and consistency in power delivery also makes a noticeable difference in handling and performance.
- Will these driveshafts fit my ARRMA Grom or Granite without modification? — Yes, these Fastrax driveshafts are engineered specifically for ARRMA Grom and Granite models and require no modification for installation. They are a direct drop-in replacement for the stock front driveshafts, making the upgrade process quick and straightforward even for less experienced builders.
- What is the difference between CVD and standard driveshafts? — CVD (constant velocity) joints maintain smooth power delivery at all suspension angles, whereas standard joints can experience dead spots and inconsistent torque delivery as the suspension articulates. CVD technology is essential for modern RC performance, providing more predictable handling, better acceleration feel, and improved overall responsiveness. For any driver who wants the best performance from their RC car, CVD driveshafts are the standard choice.
- How much longer do metal driveshafts last compared to plastic? — Metal driveshafts typically last several times longer than plastic alternatives under normal driving conditions. The exact durability advantage depends on your driving style and conditions, but experienced RC drivers report needing to replace plastic driveshafts regularly, whilst metal components can deliver hundreds of hours of service. For UK drivers who use their cars year-round, the durability advantage is particularly valuable.
- Can I upgrade just the front driveshafts, or should I upgrade the rear as well? — You can upgrade the front driveshafts independently, though many experienced RC builders recommend upgrading rear driveshafts as well for balanced performance and consistency across the entire drivetrain. However, starting with front driveshafts is a perfectly valid approach, and you can upgrade the rear separately at a later date if desired.
- Do these driveshafts require any special maintenance? — Metal CVD driveshafts require minimal maintenance beyond standard RC care. Occasional cleaning and light lubrication of the CVD joints is recommended, but these components are designed to be virtually maintenance-free compared to some other upgrades. As long as they remain undamaged from impacts, they should provide many seasons of reliable service.
