Key Features
- Aluminium 7075 Construction — This premium aluminium alloy is renowned for its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio, making it significantly harder and more durable than standard materials, ensuring your pinion gear withstands the rigorous demands of competitive RC racing and high-performance driving without premature wear or deformation.
- M0.6 Pitch Specification — The M0.6 pitch is a standard metric measurement that ensures perfect meshing compatibility with corresponding spur gears and drivetrain components across numerous popular RC platforms, making this gear a versatile upgrade option for many vehicles.
- 21-Tooth Configuration — This tooth count represents a balanced setup that works well as a middle-ground pinion gear option, allowing you to fine-tune your RC car's acceleration and top speed characteristics by experimenting with different ratios alongside your existing spur gear.
- Precision Engineering — Every tooth is manufactured to exacting tolerances, ensuring smooth engagement with your spur gear, reducing noise, vibration, and drivetrain stress while maximising efficiency and power transfer throughout your RC vehicle's transmission system.
- Lightweight Design — By utilising advanced aluminium alloy, this pinion gear maintains minimal rotational mass, which improves acceleration response and reduces the overall load on your motor and drivetrain components, contributing to extended component lifespan.
- Aftermarket Quality — As a Fastrax product, this pinion gear meets the high standards expected by RC enthusiasts who demand genuine performance upgrades rather than basic OEM replacements.
Technical Performance
The Fastrax M0.6 21T Aluminium 7075 Pinion Gear represents the pinnacle of pinion gear engineering for mid-range RC car applications. Manufactured from aerospace-grade aluminium 7075, this material exhibits superior hardness and fatigue resistance compared to conventional aluminium alloys, making it the preferred choice for demanding RC racing applications where reliability is paramount. The M0.6 pitch specification ensures compatibility with the vast majority of modern spur gears found in popular RC platforms, whilst the 21-tooth configuration provides a versatile starting point for gear ratio experimentation. The precision-cut teeth are manufactured to tight tolerances using advanced machining techniques, ensuring smooth, quiet operation and minimal backlash when meshing with your vehicle's spur gear. This reduces drivetrain stress, minimises vibration, and promotes efficient power delivery from your motor to the wheels. The lightweight nature of aluminium 7075, combined with its exceptional strength properties, means you're adding minimal rotational mass to your vehicle whilst gaining maximum durability. This makes the pinion gear particularly suitable for high-performance setups and competitive RC racing environments where every fraction of a second matters. Whether you're running a brushless motor on 2S, 3S, or higher LiPo configurations, this pinion gear will perform reliably across all common RC car UK motor types and power levels. Regular enthusiasts and competitive racers alike will appreciate the value this component brings to drivetrain customisation and maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a pinion gear and why do I need one? — A pinion gear is a small gear that meshes with a larger spur gear in your RC car's drivetrain. It's responsible for transferring power from your motor to the wheels and directly affects your vehicle's acceleration and top speed. Different tooth counts create different gear ratios; more teeth on the pinion equals lower top speed but faster acceleration, whilst fewer teeth increase top speed but reduce acceleration. Upgrading to a quality pinion gear like this Fastrax model ensures smooth operation, reduces wear on your drivetrain, and allows you to customise your RC car's performance characteristics.
- Is this pinion gear suitable for beginners? — Yes, this pinion gear is suitable for RC hobbyists of all experience levels. Whether you're just starting with your first ready to run RC car or you're an experienced racer fine-tuning a competition vehicle, having quality aftermarket pinion gears in your spare parts collection is essential. Beginners will appreciate the improved reliability and performance this upgrade provides, whilst experienced racers will value the precision engineering and durability for competitive applications.
- What vehicles is this pinion gear compatible with? — The M0.6 pitch and 21-tooth specification makes this gear compatible with a wide range of RC cars across numerous platforms. However, compatibility depends on your specific vehicle's drivetrain specifications. Check your RC car's manual or contact our knowledgeable team at RC Model Shop to confirm compatibility with your particular model before purchasing.
- How do different tooth counts affect performance? — Pinion gear tooth count directly determines your vehicle's gear ratio. A 21-tooth pinion is considered a mid-range option that balances acceleration and top speed. If you want faster acceleration from a standstill, you'd choose a higher tooth count (e.g., 23T or 25T). If you want higher top speed, you'd choose a lower tooth count (e.g., 19T or 17T). The key is experimenting with different ratios to find what works best for your specific track layout and driving style.
- Why choose aluminium 7075 over standard steel pinions? — Aluminium 7075 offers several advantages over traditional steel pinions: it's significantly lighter, reducing rotational mass for faster acceleration response; it's harder and more fatigue-resistant than standard aluminium alloys; and it delivers excellent value for money without compromising on durability. For most RC hobbyists, aluminium 7075 pinions represent the sweet spot between performance, cost, and longevity.
- Is this suitable for brushless or brushed motors? — This pinion gear works with both brushless and brushed RC motors. The type of motor your vehicle uses doesn't affect pinion gear compatibility; what matters is that your drivetrain uses M0.6 pitch gears and that the pinion meshes correctly with your spur gear.
