Overview

The Fastrax Slider Wheel for Manual Automatic Truer FAST2006-1 is an essential accessory for serious RC enthusiasts who demand perfectly trued tyres on their RC cars. Whether you're running 1/8th, 1/10th, touring car or 1/12th scale vehicles, maintaining consistent tyre profiles is crucial for optimal handling, speed and predictable performance on the track. This slider wheel component is specifically designed to work with the Fastrax manual tyre truer system, transforming tyre preparation from a tedious chore into a quick and easy process that delivers professional results every time.

If you've ever struggled with mismatched tyre pairs or spent hours manually truing wheels with sandpaper and guesswork, you'll appreciate how this precision tool revolutionises your RC car maintenance routine. Used by RC hobbyists across the UK and beyond, the Fastrax tyre truer system—complete with this slider wheel—represents superb value for money when compared to professional tyre truing services or expensive automated alternatives. The slider wheel is the essential rotating component that holds your tyre firmly in place whilst the heavy-duty motor performs the truing operation, ensuring consistent results across all your RC car wheels.

The Fastrax slider wheel is engineered for reliability and ease of operation, making it suitable for both experienced RC competitors and keen weekend bashers who want their cars to perform at their absolute best. By maintaining perfectly round, evenly-trimmed tyres, you'll notice immediate improvements in handling characteristics, reduced tyre wear, and more consistent lap times on your local track or club circuit.

Key Features

  • Compatible with Multiple Scale Sizes — This slider wheel is engineered to work with most electric and nitro powered 1/8th, 1/10th, touring car and 1/12th scale wheel sizes, making it incredibly versatile for collectors and racers running diverse RC car fleets. Optional adapters are available separately to fine-tune compatibility with your specific wheel types.
  • Heavy Duty Motor System — The Fastrax tyre truer features a powerful heavy-duty motor that powers the slider wheel with enough torque to effortlessly true even the most stubborn or worn tyres without bogging down or stalling. Reviews confirm the motor is so capable that it barely notices it's working, even on smaller GT12 scale wheels.
  • Adjustable Truing Diameter — The slider wheel works within an adjustable truing diameter range of 35-80mm, giving you complete control over the final tyre profile and allowing precise tuning to match your specific track surface and driving style requirements.
  • 12 Volt Power Supply Compatible — The system requires a standard 12V power source, making it compatible with common hobby power supplies like the Fusion PS201 and other mainstream RC hobby electrical supplies found in UK shops. This makes the system more accessible and economical than alternatives requiring specialised power infrastructure.
  • Hand Wheel Operation Process — The slider wheel features easy hand-operated controls that make the truing process intuitive and straightforward, requiring minimal training or experience to achieve professional results with every pass.
  • Heavy Duty Aluminium Casing — The entire truer assembly is constructed from heavy-duty aluminium, providing structural rigidity, durability and longevity whilst keeping weight manageable. This professional-grade construction means your investment will serve you reliably for years of regular use.
  • Plexi Glass Cover Protection — A clear plexi glass cover shields your fingers and the tyre during operation, providing essential safety protection whilst allowing you to clearly see the truing process in action and monitor the profile development in real time.

Technical Performance

The Fastrax slider wheel represents a significant upgrade to manual tyre truing methods and delivers performance comparable to much more expensive automated systems. The heavy-duty motor has been tested extensively by UK RC enthusiasts on wheel sizes ranging from tiny GT12 onroad wheels through to full-size 1/8th scale buggy and truggy tyres, and consistently delivers perfectly trued profiles without requiring multiple passes or manual intervention. The adjustable truing diameter of 35-80mm provides exceptional flexibility—whether you're preparing qualifying tyres for a competition run or simply maintaining your fleet of bashers. The aluminium construction ensures the slider wheel remains perfectly balanced and true itself, which is critical because any wobble in the truing wheel would be transferred directly to your RC car tyre. The plexi glass safety cover is optically clear and doesn't reduce visibility of the tyre profile development. Experienced users report that pairing the Fastrax manual tyre truer with a quality 12V hobby power supply like the Fusion PS201 provides rock-solid power delivery with no voltage sag or fluctuations during the truing process. The hand wheel design means you maintain complete tactile control and can feel exactly how the tyre is being shaped, allowing you to make micro-adjustments to achieve the precise profile your specific RC car demands.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What exactly is the slider wheel and how does it work with the Fastrax tyre truer? — The slider wheel is the critical rotating component at the heart of the Fastrax manual tyre truer system. When you power the system with a 12V supply, the slider wheel spins at controlled speed whilst your RC car tyre is positioned against it. You manually guide your tyre across the spinning slider wheel using the hand wheel controls, and the slider wheel gradually trims and profiles the tyre to a perfectly round, evenly-balanced state. The adjustable diameter range of 35-80mm means you can dial in exactly the profile you need.
  • Is the Fastrax slider wheel suitable for beginners learning about RC tyre maintenance? — Yes, the slider wheel is actually ideal for beginners because the hand wheel operation is genuinely intuitive—you simply need to guide the tyre smoothly across the spinner and watch as it becomes perfectly trued. There's no complicated calibration or settings to understand. Even users who initially worried about the process report that it's far easier than expected and delivers professional results on first attempt. The plexi glass cover provides peace of mind whilst learning the technique.
  • What power supply do I need for the slider wheel? — The slider wheel requires a 12V power supply. UK RC hobbyists commonly use the Fusion PS201 power supply which has been verified as fully compatible and provides stable voltage delivery without sag during operation. Other standard hobby 12V supplies will also work, but we recommend checking that your power supply can deliver adequate current capacity for the heavy-duty motor.
  • Can the slider wheel handle small wheels like GT12 scale? — Absolutely, and this is one of its major strengths. User reviews specifically praise how the slider wheel handles tiny GT12 onroad wheels perfectly, and the motor barely notices it's working. This makes it exceptionally versatile—the same tool works perfectly whether you're truing miniature onroad wheels or full-size 1/8th scale off-road buggy tyres. The adjustable 35-80mm truing diameter range easily accommodates this entire spectrum.
  • What scales and wheel types does the slider wheel work with? — The slider wheel is compatible with most electric and nitro powered 1/8th scale, 1/10th scale, touring car and 1/12th scale wheel sizes. For precise fitment on specific wheel types, optional adapters are available separately—including 1/12th on-road adapters, touring car wheel adapters, and 1/8th on-road adapters. These adapters ensure your specific wheels sit perfectly centred on the slider wheel for optimal results.
  • How durable is the slider wheel and how long will it last with regular use? — The slider wheel is constructed from heavy-duty aluminium, which provides excellent durability and longevity. The engineering is robust enough for regular competitive use, and UK RC enthusiasts report years of reliable service from their Fastrax truer systems. The key to longevity is using a stable 12V power supply and allowing the motor brief rest periods during extended truing sessions.
